Get two beautiful frames with glass and put them in, so when you hang them, it will look like a museum piece. Love your collections. Cherie is so well behave. Love your dog.❤❤❤
The tapestry. Find the largest rectangular frame(s) (or Sergi makes them (?) and place the tapestry pieces on top of a solid fabric or paper as a background to create a larger border with the tapestry centered behind the glass. It will look like a collector's museum piece and also look finished. Museums usually do this using an ancient Chinese Kimono, jacket, tools, rocks... The back ground shows off the artifact. Pinterest has ideas by carlaaston , make wall decor out of anything.
The chocolate brown background, beautiful gold toned flowers with gold and aqua border is a very beautiful antique tapersty I hope you can restore it. Maybe on canvas backing, may work, if too delicate.
I’m so happy you are doing all you can to restore the tapestry. It does honor to whoever did the work originally. Handwork like that is a labor of love and would be beautiful put on display. I think if it were mine I would put it under glass and not letting any direct sunlight hit it. ❤️😊
An idea... see if you can make a frame to cover the dor with the panel, so it looks like there is a panel in the wall, but it is actually a working door, because that door is not attractive. I love the panel also.
What a gorgeous room it will be Alla! As the tapestries are odd shapes, it might be better to reshape them a little and frame them, as many people have suggested, however, I know you'll find a solution, as you always do! I love the first light fittings by the fireplace but I think the larger branch light (with 5 lights) would look lovely on the larger wall of the salon, once clean. It seems a little large for the hallway but you can tell better than us. for sure. Whatever you do is always beautiful! You're both so talented. Bacione 💖🥰😘🤗
With your tapestry since it is so frail, I would take the 2 best lengths and put them in picture frames. You could hang one on the door. There is just too many holes and tears. If you wash it it will completely fall apart.
Beautiful tapestry… I would cut the border off of the tapestry, make a frame out of it, then put the best center piece “focal point” inside it. If you have smaller pieces left over you can put them in small gold frames or if you have a long piece left over you could make a “Bell Pull” to hang on a the wall.
Love the big wall light. Not keen on the tapistry.I would double the tapistry fragments with a piece of brown cotton fabric to give the thing some stability.
Love the tapestry! Maybe you could build your own canvas on a stretcher to mount the tapestry and then frame it without it being perfectly even on the edges.
Alla, I love that you see the beauty of the tapestry. I like the aged look…the history it represents. You will find the best way to showcase it. I think I like it with the larger sconce in the hallway. 😊
The tapestry is beautiful. I would frame two long slim panels under glass, one either side the mirror. With the lamps next to them. Stunning. The salon is going to be gorgeous ❤
Your salon is coming along beautifully, and the tapestry remnants will go so well. Also want to give kudos to Sergey--he's a good man, from cooking good food to holding things up for you today. You two make a fine team.
the tapestry the border belongs to is aflemish tapestry, difficult to see, but it could be made in Oudenaarde, Enghien or Brussels (in Belgium). It is a recurrent practice to remove the borders of tapestries, or just tapestries were often cut and reassembled just to be able to fit in a certain rooms. originally they were always rather big , because they had to adorn the dwellings from the richest of the upper class. Tapestries were at the time much more expensive than paintings for example. Especially after the French Revolution or Napoleonic times, older tapestries were being bought by lesser rich people who wanted to put them in their mostly bit smaller houses. if you went to preserve it , make sure it does not hang in direct sunlight; it fades the colour and makes the textile more brittle over time.
I can see the beauty in the tapestry and I love the colours (within the tapestry) but I think I am probably with Sergei in that I am not sure I can see how you can make it work? I don't think it is just a case of the holes and the frayed edges; I find myself questioning the size as well, and being the right balance around the mirror on both sides - won't the pieces be too small? Maybe the idea that others are suggesting of putting it in two frames might solve this balance but where do you find the matching frames?
the 5 candle chandelier is bit too much for the staircase, I think. the single, without shade will work in the staircase, for now, and permit you to use the matching pair of wall sconces to frame the fireplace
Hi Alla & Sergei, I can see your vision Alla ! The Tapestry, once would’ve been very beautiful! If you can’t manage to get two decent panels ( once repaired )i think you could put two large piece,in long frames, even with holes & tattered edges, like a piece of Art, behind glass to preserve the tapestry from light, dust & moths ect ! Good luck 🤞💞
Cut the tapestry down to the best parts of it and put it in a frame with glass to protect for the future ..or cover something with it. By it's self it want look right..I think in a frame would best best like a oil painting..framed
I think I would put a rich color of velvet behind the tapestry, and let the age show. Let the velvet fabric hold the tapestry as it is. To much fragile threads to mend. It will just fray against the weight.....good luck, I think it is BEAUTIFUL ❤
Alla, I hope you can fix the tapestry where you can use it, I would suggest cutting it where you can put in a long wooden frame somehow so you can use on either side of the fireplace, that would be lovely I think but I would defiantly put under glass or plexiglass to protect it. Good luck on your project. Kathy USA
Carefully hand stitch the tapestry to a dark blue fabric that is heavy enough to handle the weight. It could be a runner across the long piece of furniture next to the wall. Or if possible split it into two shorter lengths and likewise hand stitch it to a heavy dark blue fabric for two wall hangings. Edit: after stitching to a matching dark blue fabric, you might also mimic the border on the good side with bands of like colored fabrics and lightly tuck the tattered side under the new border.
If you hang that tapestry it will be destroyed, you have to put it in a frame because it is too fragile. If you have the patience to wait a little (this week it will arrive my new dog from the shelter, so I have to get her used to being at home alone a bit) one day I could come to your area and show you how to repair it in the best way, I went to fashion school so I know how to sew pretty well in invisible way. In reality it would be better to even redo some of the previous repairs, they are really poorly done😔
The staircase is the PERFECT spot for that chandelier! good job you're doing...
The fireplace is beautiful!

I would put the tapestry into frames for pictures paintings. This will also preserve the piece
I think you're right Charlotte - sounds like a great solution.
I love the large candelabra on the wall in the hall. The. Crystal ones would go beautifully in the bathroom

What a well-behaved dog! Waiting patiently.

you could probably find a pretty tapestry in better condition.
An idea... see if you can make a frame to cover the dor with the panel, so it looks like there is a panel in the wall, but it is actually a working door, because that door is not attractive. I love the panel also.

Alla,
the antique tapestry
is very beautiful tones with
gold and aqua colour,
I hope you can restore it.
Love the tapestry! Maybe you could build your own canvas on a stretcher to mount the tapestry and then frame it without it being perfectly even on the edges.
The tapestry is beyond repair. I would throw it away but some have suggestions of cushion covers.
Honestly i dont like that tapestry love the lights. But you do turn things around and make them look beautiful. So far you have done a amazing job.
The tapestry: I'm so stunned by the beauty of what must be natural pigments: so-o-o subtle!
The tapestry must have been very beautiful when it was first made. I wonder how old it is.
I CAN SEE WHAT YOU SEE!!!! That tapestry is EVERYTHING!! Yes, hang one panel on either side of the fireplace!! It's gorgeous indeed!
I love all you both do ❤. Really awesome following.

It wouldn’t matter about the holes,I would think long and hard about repairing it. Preserve as is. In beautiful gold frames with wonderful boarders
You might want to consider stabilizing the tapestry piece with a backing to strengthen it for hanging.

Alla if you cant rewire the lamps, could you use USB rechargeable remote control light bulbs?
The tapestry would look nicely displayed if you cut out the best piece and frame it.
Wonderful 👍

So beautiful, congratulations 🎊
Use The tapestry to recover footstool or something...bad condition! Counvh pillow..put the best part in a frame...not beautiful.

I was going to say frame it as is after repairs.
❤
Ive always framed with beautiful frames. Things i liked even id antique or frail.
I would not use tapestry unless it is protected in a frame
Thank you Alla Kate😊
If you have enough good bits of tapestry it would look great framed ,even different sizes scattered on one wall?? Just a thought
I think I would put a rich color of velvet behind the tapestry, and let the age show. Let the velvet fabric hold the tapestry as it is. To much fragile threads to mend. It will just fray against the weight.....good luck, I think it is BEAUTIFUL ❤

You could frame the nicer pieces of the tapestry and hang the frames on the wall.
Put the tapestry in the stairwell. It would look lovely with a black board behind it. Clean it!!!
Don’t use this on your wall my friend it’s old and damaged I think you should use it to cover pillows for your couch instead
Why don't you put the best of the tapestrie in a frame ?
It is going to take some time to repair the tapestry Alla it looks In bad shape ..I daresay say it will be fine when you have done the repairs on it ❤
Remember to adjust your clocks...(back 1 hour) ⏰
Use the tapestry for two pillows on the sofa
Yes, I agree, place the tapestry for a small project. It appears that moths have really ruined that piece. I wouldn’t waste my time or energy on it.
If you hang that tapestry it will be destroyed, you have to put it in a frame because it is too fragile.
