      I haven't seen anyone tilt the back motor on a tricopter version and use it for forward thrust, did you think about that?

      @@LetsFlyRC I did, as a matter of fact, watch the video but I think you misunderstood my comment. There’s no mention of it being a prebuilt with extra parts until the final minute of the video, conveniently after all of the actual content, and even then you only credit your friend for helping you learn the software and provide a link to your own thingiverse page. That was super amazing!!
    Something, I wanted to see very bad!
    These VTOLs performed really nicely and are definitely, really fun to fly and even watching them fly is entertaining!
    The ideas of making these VTOLs were amazing, from the tri motor VTOL with that front two motors which can tilt horizontally for the Airplane mode, to that Black penta motor VTOL which looks amazing and surely flies nicely with the quad vertical motors to fly it like a Drone!
    The last enormous VTOL seemed to be like a great forward innovation step on the E-Flite Opterra!!
    It looks beautiful and is as stable as DJI drones!!
    And, I can't believe my eyes that a winged plane VTOL just did a beautiful stable yaw in the air....
    A bit too unbelievable and fantastic!
    That is surely gonna be the future!
    Keep it up, it was so entertaining to see!!!

    Nice to see FPV people experimenting with V-Tol drones. Been in FPV for a long time and from the FPV knowledge got working as a drone pilot doing flight tests for the VTol systems that will be used for mapping and surveying.
    V_Tol is not that new but for Mapping its a totally different story. Im not convinced about the solution to use the configurations shown in the video as a delivery drone. The way these flat pancakes fly through the air makes them really loud compared to other configurations/systems.
    There are tests done by different company's using these types of drones to fly BV_LOS from point to point. At this moment tho the regulations around this type of flying is quite difficult as there need to be a lot of safety percussions to do these flights legaly.

  • @riverbankfisher
    @riverbankfisher Рік тому

    The ultimate RC delivery of FPV aircraft would be a large payload-capable VTOL wing capable of flying fully autonomous waypoint missions far beyond the reach of the controller like an older DJI Phantom can do, but at much higher airspeeds that would enable the wing to cover far greater distances per battery charge than any quadcopter.

    Wanted to say - I've been watching FPV stuff for 6+ years. In the early days I would get to know the guys and it felt like an adventure. They had trouble finding good adventures back then, but you could do "Finding the perfect spot" or some other PG thing. They also could just gorilla dive a building one day... It didn't feel scripted and scratched that itch of flying with the boys. Then even when they did "gun vs. drones" (more what you're going for) people were invested in steel or final glide. I think it would make sense to produce longer cut "days out" where people get to know the peeps without the commercial wash. -Just a thought to get more buy in with new pilots getting into the hobby. That's also how your pilots build brand and sell ^&*() :) cheers! Looking forward to future adventures and hopefully a bit less of a 'production'

    • @LetsFlyRC
      @LetsFlyRC 2 роки тому

      Depends what components you use.
      You could build a $2 foamboard plane from Flite Test with inexpensive servos and motors and could probably do if for about $150. The most expensive part being the flight controller.
      Most of these were using DJI FPV gear, prebuilt off the shelf airframes and quality motors and servos, so they were quite a bit more.
      The HeeWing Ranger, for example, cost me about $750 with all that I put into it.

    what about similar motor mounting at the back of the vtol(make the tricopter a quad) ?!? ... rear motors pointing down (folded upwards) front motors pointing up folded downwards
    that way one would have 4 motors pushing in plane mode ... (if needed for very long flight time use folding propeller at the rear end and switch them off for travel with only front motors)

    What they made a NEW Ardupilot?
    I could have swore Ardupilot has been around for a decent amount of time, at very least.
    Am I missing something?

      Sometimes I stumble on camera, “new to me”. But, there are major improvements in the vtol code that make it better and much easier for a Hobbyist to to build a vtol
