Very informative, let me add a few points , usually power = voltage x current ( ideal conditions, no losses ) Suppose a loco needs 30kw power from the OHE to run , So a setting can be like , 30000w = 1000v x 30amp , Now 30 amp current is a big thing and will heat up the OHE cable big time. now there is a property of A/c current that it can raise the voltage to lower the current passing through , yet keeping the same power output So using transformers to up the voltage , above equation can be changed to 30000w = 10000v x 3 amp So with 25kv ie 25000v, the corresponding current would be around 1.2amp or so So now voltage is high and current in the cable is less, ie less heating of cable and yet same power is transmitted from the OHE cable to the loco. Off course this is all under ideal conditions and usually there is an additional component called Power factor which comes into play with ac currents.

DC Series motor can also operate on AC. Another advantage of increasing voltage and that too in AC system is that the weight of conductor per km decreases highly. Induction motors are also suitable because these motor can operate at constant speed and also at increased speed with reduced Torque. DC series motor has good Torque profile but speed drops drastically with load. By the way good video.
