    One note -303, despite having a British commander initially, wasn't a combined squadron. It was a Polish Air Force squadron since it's inception. Frantisek, despite being a Czech, flew with them because shortly before the war he became a pilot and instructor in PAF.

    • @lpjmodels
      @lpjmodels  3 роки тому

      Hi Jon ! My advice is to get the best you can afford, while you can get reasonable results with cheap gear you'll likely get more headaches in the long run.
      That being said a lot of people have good luck with the cheapo ebay £30 airbrushes, but these I would view as more a disposable bit of kit as getting spares might be troublesome. I started with a sparmax sp35 but outgrew it very quickly.
      Your compressor will be the biggest investment to start with, as long as it can put out at least 25-30 psi you'll be set, anything more for modelling is unnecessary. Best of luck !

    I can't see the point of 'black basing' as it just looked like dark green and dark earth at the end, but maybe the effect is too subtle for the camera. I think the subsequent weathering on top of the base colours achieves the effect you need and cuts out a few steps. But I'm a bit old school! Nevertheless the end result is stunning and your weathering is a lot more realistic than the 'shaded panel line, lightened panel centre' school. In fact I think the scale effect is spot on and it's one of the best examples of 'realistic' as opposed to 'artistic' weathering I've seen for a while.

    • @lpjmodels
      @lpjmodels  4 роки тому

      That's a massive compliment Ian thankyou !
      The black basing to me just gives the base coat a little more variety before weathering, after messing about with layers and effects I find it hard to lay down a solid colour, I'm always reaching for another technique or something just to break it up a bit more.
      I'm glad you think the weathering is realistic, I did a lot of research on the weathering of BOB hurricanes before I dared lay any paint down.
      Many thanks !

  • @RaduB.
    @RaduB. 5 років тому +2

    There's quite a flogged Hurricane... Like they would have looked during the Battle of Britain.

    Fantastic build and weathering ,the only thing to me was the clarity of the canopy it seemed a bit misty or is it my eye sight !! either way a top presentation well done

    • @lpjmodels
      @lpjmodels  5 років тому

      Thanks Trinescape it does look a bit misty and I dont know what happened, i had to make my own masks (not quite there yet with that) so that could have been tidier, and maybe the oil wash left a residue, I usually polish my canopies with polishing compound before painting and that usually helps as well.

    Hi
    so that is the way to make it looks faded -with that stensil rage.
    but to other models how we know what color to use for example the Corsair or Hellcat ? what you suggest ?

    • @lpjmodels
      @lpjmodels  4 роки тому

      Hello Efraim, you can use lighter and darker versions of the base coat, I like to start with black usually and build up a mottle with the airbrush. I use the stencils for pre and post texturing.

    After it is done and painted, and set out for a few days, is there then a desire to blow it up with a firecracker, perhaps while being videoed?

      Occasionally.. but selling is much better for my pocket

    • @mikewalters3048
      @mikewalters3048 5 років тому

      I was wondering. Back in my model-building days (mostly cars) I would put them up on a shelf for a month or so but invariably I would have the desire to blow them up with firecrackers. Skeeter airplanes, those $2 rubberband-powered aircraft, had the same fate. We'd tape a firecracker on the fuselage, wind-up the rubberband, light the firecracker fuse and then quickly throw plane off a bridge.

    Just purchased this model and was looking for a build video. WOW if only I can get it half as good as yours. FANTASTIC job sir hat of to you. I don't have a spray gun, is it worth the investment, any recommendations? thanks in advance.

    • @lpjmodels
      @lpjmodels  4 роки тому +2

      Thanks Lee ! I think an airbush is a worthwhile investment if your invested in the hobby for sure, like all tools though they require practice so it worth looking at youtube videos or forum/Facebook tutorial posts.
      Its good to buy the best you can afford, you can get cheap Chinese airbrushes to play with but you will outgrow them quickly.
      Harder and steenbeck, iwata, badger, and Mr hobby all make good quality products. The spares for h&s and badger are easier on the wallet though.
      You'll need a compressor, most people like one with a built in air tank ( this fills up only when needed keeping the process quieter)
      I use one without and still get happy results though.
      I don't think I would be happy with my vehicle modelling without and airbrush after making the shift. You can get great results with a brush, however once you're set up and practiced with an airbrush there processes become a lot more streamlined and you can get a wider variety of effects and finishes.
      I hope that gives you something to chew on !

What psi are did you use in general and for spraying the trails from the underside shell casings? At first I couldn't remember if I'd started using stock music for this one as its quite old, so I went and checked, the music wasn't chosen, me and a friend made it, sorry it sucks. Newer videos have stock music from epidemic sound.
