    A quintessential Borrego experience for everyone is dinner, music and dancing on Saturday nights at Carlee's restaurant, just off Christmas Circle. Nothing quite like it...

    Good Job. I love the Domelands and Windcaves, I especially like the short slot canyon there. The Goat Canyon Train Trestle Bridge is a great hike, but even though its not to long of a hike its still no joke.

  • @Commanderson7

    I have been to the slots and the mud caves. Both are very cool to see. If you walk all the way through the slots you can see the wind caves which is pretty cool also. In the video he talks about the calcite mines. That’s another good one to go to. So many good places to see.

    I want to compliment you on a lot of interesting information presented in a more concise manner than I have come to expect from any reasonably well-produced UA-cam videos. (That wasn't a very concise sentence in itself, now was it? LOL)
    My folks and I bugged out of California more than fifty years ago; and I have never regretted that fact. However, like many old farts, I'd like to revisit a few locations enjoyed in my youth. But I would also like to explore fresh locales. I grew up in Fontana and, despite its proximity, never made it to Anza-Borrega. I'm perusing a few videos on the subject to garner ideas--your video stood out for it lack of irrelevant filler. Kudos!
    Some time ago, I stumbled upon an old map, considerably older than a century, that depicts within the present Anza-Borrega a site labeled "Old Santa Rosa." It was an Indian village that has nothing to do with the present Santa Rosa in San Luis Obispo County. Are you familiar with the site and its history?

      @@kamranford4 thats a marvelous idea, and I enjoy being able to explore around and watching the sky at night like nowhere else 🌟 ⭐ 💫 🌠 ,Very Peaceful, what makes it difficult is having to drive about an hour out to the city to get what you need for better prices and the heat in July is Very tough but other than that you'll make a great choice.

    Been to all these place and more. Last I knew the sculptures are on BLM land and not in the State Park. This may have changed since I was last there. Personally I don't like that they are there, yes interesting to look at but for me they are pieces of liter that deface the beauty of the natural desert landscape. There was no charge to hike Palm Canyon, however I understand the reason for the charge. Hiker population on this trail probably has increased by10 fold if not more since I first hiked it. This makes for a lot of wear and tear on its' environment. It is a state park, but trust me it is not a walk in the park, be well prepared for every hike you take is a walk "Into The Wild." I am so blessed to have such good memories at the Anza Borrego Desert.

  • @emstnjowtolmsn
    @emstnjowtolmsn 5 років тому +2

    Many of the dirt roads in Anza Borrego are marked as 4WD recommended or high clearance recommended, yet I found this not to be the case for many of them. Which makes it that much harder to know which roads actually do require 4WD or high clearance, and which ones don't. Font's Point, for example, is accessible without 4WD/high clearance if you drive carefully.
    Some of the other spots in Anza Borrego I'd recommend are Whale Peak and Marshall South in the southern part of the park.
    It should also be noted that Anza Borrego is the largest State Park in CA!

    • @stinzabusiness
      @stinzabusiness 5 років тому

      Disagreeing with you on part of this! As the video said, it depends on the time of year, but right now you definitely DO NOT want to go to Fonts Point without 4WD and high clearance. Conditions can change drastically day by day, so I would not recommend it to people without 4WD, especially those who have not driven in sand. This is true for all of the 4WD recommended roads in the park. The only road that is fully safe for 2WD is the slot. If you do not have a 4WD vehicle but desperately want to see Fonts Point, there are several tour companies that will take you there. Better be safe than to waste rangers time rescuing you.

    I'm getting really frustrated with California. I lived here for 20 years and then my job took me to Atlanta, Texas and South Carolina. it's easy to own a house in every state except here.
    So I was wondering and had a question for you. I found an affordable lot that I think I can build my own house on. Do you recommend having a second home here? Is it safe? What's going on there?
