Anyone who hasn’t sung the Mozart Requiem has no idea of how challenging it is to sing and his Chorus as a Solo Quartet!
As a Bass singer I find that most of it is not too difficult. However... when it comes to Kyrie....that is a different story 😂
It's EZ
My school has a choir and this year we sing dies irae and lacrimosa. and it's SO damn DiFiCUlt😂😂but it's also an honor to sing cuz it's beautyful. (I'm a soprano btw)
My favorite part to sing was the “Tuba Mirum”. Of course, the trick was the end of the phrase, “spargens so------num”
These are Mozart's last notes. During the Lacrimosa, Mozart's handwriting broke. One can actually hear and feel that great soul's farewell when listening... and eternity shimmers from afar.
I have to agree!! I was moved to tears listening. I could literally feel the man's heartbreak. Amazing. Blows my mind literally every time that I can still be so moved by a piece of music that was written centuries ago!
@@christopherpericolosi-king4979 Turns out, 90% of the song isn't actually made by him, but by a pupil of his, since he died later on and never got to finish it.
mm...were you there?
@@Aqalad2781 Absolutely correct. For sure, 90% of the Lacrimosa's musical notation was completed by Franz Xaver Süßmayr, Mozart's pupil. However, Mozart had still been able to provide the basic structure, harmonics and other key foundations for the Lacimosa and for most of the entire K. 626, so that Süßmayr was certainly able to complete the Lacrimosa and most of the remaining Requiem in the sense and style of his master. The Lacrimosa has never been challenged of being not 'Mozartian' enough - as opposed to the last 4 parts of the Requiem (Sanctus-Bendictus-Agnus Dei-Offertorium), which to many listeners (including myself) appear to be of sub-Mozartian quality.
@@kael7953 Were you? Cheeky comment!
The soprano and tenor had me captivated the entire time. Very nice
there’s something really chilling about knowing that mozart composed this piece as he was on his deathbed.
But he didn't write it. Stupid people still confuse Hollywood fiction with facts. Mozart was a fraud and a mean little shit and a crook and a cheating ass hole.
Josef Wolff but did you know he was writing this requiem and he wasn’t gonna get credit for it. watch the documentary on his requiem before you comment
I live in Salzburg, where Mozart was born, i sing in a choir and can say that Mozart died exactly at 00:52
@@Jack-wl9wl That is correct, he died on December 5, 1791 at 12:52 am. I read that too somewhere when I visited Salzburg. R.I.P. Wolfy.
Josef Wolff he actually did, but only the first 8 bars, from “lacrimosa dies illa”, but franz xaver sussmayr finished it
Alto melody is really precious even when many people prefers to hear soprano voice.
There isn't an alto part sop 1 sop 2
It's Voiced Male Bass, Tenor, and Female Soprano 1 and 2.
The soprano sounds like an angel.
Wow. By only having one singer per part, one can really appreciate the inner voices in this :) Wonderful.
Hey, just wanted to say that both girls sang soprano (see end credit)!
@@sandra02all49 i think one is just regularly a soprano but sang the alto part hear. I know you can't really distinctly hear her but from the movement alone i think it is pretty clear.
Lacrimosa dies illa
Qua resurget ex favilla

Huic ergo parce, Deus
Pie Jesu Domine

Mournful, that day
when from the ashes shall rise

the soprano voice... one of the best I ever heard!
¿Tanto así?
I think you haven't listen real sopranos or tenors
You haven’t listened to many then
It is just an "angelic" voice. Not really good
People So instead of shitting on him, how bout you recommend some who are actually good then?
one of the best versions I have heard ..simple... stripped back .. awesome young singers
Youth sings about eternity with the music of genius. I'm proud of humanity.
God, the tenor voice is... More than beautiful, I can't describe in words
Thank you very much for your really nice comment. All the best!
I love how you can hear *everyone*. As opposed to one blaring soprano and bass and a bunch of mumbling tenors who don't care and altos trying so hard to be heard... (distressed alto noises) Anyways, enough complaining about a high school chorus. This is lovely, and that's all that matters.
Agree 100%
Good to know other people have ears an know how to use them ... Hard to disagree. :-) [Great comment!]
Yeah...I'm like the only alto that actually sings in our school
Really sad sometimes hh
hate to break it to you but there wasn't an Alto in this group
The soprano is moving a lot but somehow both sounds and looks bored to me but otherwise it is good. She seems like she is tired of singing it.
My wife's many year church choir director - a truly gifted man kind've at Mozart's level - used to say: "Beethoven sometimes reaches to the heavens. Mozart lives there." This choir director had music in his DNA. I saw him direct a church choir and a bell-choir that accompanied it but one person had not showed up so he played that person's bells too WHILE he directed the entire choir. So he was directing the musicians AND the bell choir AND the many-person singing choir AND played one set of bells for good measure. Spectators were shaking their head in amazement as to what was a miracle. I imagined what it must have been like to witness Mozart.
Ans Bach was playing there ( in the sky).
Mozart never dies
Yet I am certain that he's turning in his grave thanks to this abomination.
He ist Alien 👽👽
Nunca!
He was a composer. Now he is decomposing.
but yea his music lives on
Their kill him;(
I was not expecting to like this, as I love a full orchestral accompaniment, but this was truly beautiful! You can hear the purity of the voices, and the subtle harmonizing of the singers. Well done!
I really can't figure out why anyone would give this a thumbs down. This is gorgeous
Mozart was God's gift to mankind. If the angels from heaven were to sign this piece they could not sign it any better. The music and the singing are just wonderful. Thank you so much . Jim from Ohio usa
The emotion was very deep.
Patar Nababan agreed
I've watched other choirs and the thing I love is that the soprano doesn't use vibrato at 0:48.
Yes agreed! ❤
Middle two have a connection - just saying. Wonderful music ...
Agreed
You’re confusing a connection with coordination. Pmsl
Nah, it's just that he dictates the tempo.

I directed a talent high school choir for 25 years. I wish I would've had the courage that this group has to allow a group of four to take on this challenging piece of work. Congratulations!!
Thank you so much for your wonderful comment. It go straight to our's heart! We're loving choir and we have had and still have magnificent adventures singing in choirs! It inspires us so much.
All the best to you!
@@ensemble.sottovoce Thank you so much for your kind words. Every piece your group is singing on these videos has been done by my group at one time or another through the years. Awesome choices! Keep up the great work!!!!!
Kudos to the pianist. He delivered a very beautiful anc sensitive rendition.
Goosebumps! I prefer this ensemble to a large choir. The sound is so pure! These acoustics are fabulous!
Lacrimosa means ''weeping'' in latin
That may have been the most beautiful sing I've ever heard. Every time I watch it I rewind it at least the times. Awesome!! Encore!!!!!! Much love from the USA
She makes my soprano high parts sound rubbish. Nice tone and blend.
The same for me ! ^^
Her voice like angel!! :D
One of my favorite pieces, beautifully performed.
2:05 That transition is mindblowingly beautiful.
Mozart requiem has so many layers and beautiful parts, but Lacrimosa has to be my favourite because of how simple it is but you can still hear the grief.
I especially like the piano accompaniment.
No Ego, everything seems like it's for the good of the music. Great
As a soprano, I am so moved my how resonant their voices are~!
the soprano is so effortless. I love it
This almost make me cry 😶 I don't know why but I feel so relieved now
This is such an incredible composition . In any format choral , quartet it’s incredible .
One of my favourite interpretations I have heard, very good.
Thank you very much !
Perfectly captures the spirit of this piece, works really well with one voice singing each part. thanks for sharing this with us!
Even for an absolute Bach fanatic as myself, this peace is fantastic. Well done and long live Mozart :-)
Thank you very much for your comment!
Amazing ! I haven't heard Lacrimosa sung in this way before and with the right tempo, it really works well.
Lovely pure voices.... Superb ! :-)
John studied autocorrect it is suppose to be Lacrymosa but it’s not your fault I LOVE THIS SONG THO!!!!!!!!
otter7 Pups really? I’ve always seen it written with an «i », not a « y »
A little anemic without the orchestra perhaps but with those voices... absolutely brilliant. Lovely voices.
0:49 goose bumps
This is my absolute favorite version of Lacrimosa ever. Bravo 👏
Thank you very much for your comment. All the best to you!
Idk what it is but choirs instantly bring tears and chills it’s truly beautiful
Thank you very much for your comment, all the best!

Merci beaucoup ! Votre compliment nous va droit au coeur ! :)
extraordinaire performance!!! Bravo!! i'm so speechless
Cheers, merci beaucoup :)
Une merveille qui vous prend aux tripes
Wow, only four singers. Beautiful.
Thank you very much for your nice comment! All the best 🙂
one of the best versions
I wouldn’t say I’m a huge classical music fan but as a genuine music maker/enjoyer, god damn this was something else. I don’t ever stop to really watch what is on but I was just captivated on this one
No one in this world deserves this music!
That Tenor's voice is amazing
The score reduction to piano and SATB doesn't take anything away from the impact of the music. That's' how you know it's an amazing composition!
At 2:07 you hear the same music from Introit representing the circle of life being completed - the end of Mozart's life. It comes after a more joyful and longing passage around 1:45 . Although only my thoughts, I believe this to show Mozart's longing for joy and life yet he knows that his time has come. It is truly magnificent - this music will be in my heart forever.
It has been 30years + since I sang that in a choir. The words have amazingly stuck with me. There is something to be said for music that embeds itself in your soul.
Magnifique !
Incredibly moving piece.... beautiful performed....thank you all.
Omg, I have no idea what happened with my UA-cam right now, but I put on Clair de Lune on Harp and somehow the comments mixed up with the Lacrimosa's comments (which is the next video in my playlist), but there're mixed up and now I'm listening to Debussy and reading all of these comments about Mozart and I'm like "Have I gone mad, isn't this Debussy thay I'm listening to??? Why is everyone talking about Mozart and WHY IS NOONE CORRECTING THESE PEOPLE"
Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk, that's all.
Times like this I wish I never quit the choir.
Love this!^^
Simplesmente mágico...
we are singin this in college choir and it is an amazing piece you guys are amazing
Hauntingly beautiful
Beautiful, thank you!
What a beautiful soprano! It really is the heart of the piece.
That was just stunning. Just absolutely stunning. Well done.
Magnificent rendition!👌
They sound like one angel with magical vocal cords
Thank you so much for your really nice comment!
Incroyable!!
When I was going through a really traumatic time in my life, this song gave me hope. Thank you.

Superb, light and moving. WAM would be proud! Encore!
Impressionante!
I REALLY LOVE THIS! THANK YOU HUNTER X HUNTER 😍 FOR USING THIS TO YOUR SOUND TRACK.
The atmosphere created is totally different, I think it is unfavorable. Can you imagine the Rigoletto quartet sung by a choir?

you guys are absolutely fantastic, loved listening!
Best soprano I’ve heard in my life! ❤
I personally believe that the Soprano is the only one** singing this piece the correct way. Could use more Mezzo in the texture. The Tenor could mix his voice a little more - not such a forward and delicate sound. There's some points in the movement where the Tenor does need to give more. The Bass could have also been more present.
Keiwon Lambert good point! I barely hear the others
Keiwon Lambert true very true
Agreed on the alto. She was too chesty and had a slightly harsh tone. A contralto or countertenor would have blended better. I noticed though the alto was listed as a soprano and that may be the issue.
The building probably ate the bass.
There is literally not supposed to have a bass singer
