The rocks of Dovbush are a rock-cave complex, a unique monument of history and nature. It is located 3 km from the village of Bubnyshche (Bolekhiv city council, Ivano-Frankivsk region), in the Bubnyshche tract, on the territory of the Polyanytsky regional park created in 1996.
The complex natural monument "Rocks of Dovbush" lies at an altitude of 668 m above sea level. These are rocky outcrops of sandstone up to 80 m high, which were formed more than 70 million years ago at the bottom of the Paleogene sea. The 200 m wide stone labyrinth stretches in the midst of a beech-spruce forest from east to west for almost 1 km.
According to legend, in the XVII-XVIII centuries. here camped opryshki, who used caves for storage.
The unique rock complex is named in honor of the legendary trapper Oleksa Dovbush. This is a unique accumulation of giant rocks and stones, reminiscent of amazing creatures, in their shapes and location, dotted with deep, always dark gorges, pits, secret passages and paths.
In his time, Ivan Franko wrote about Bubnyshche in his work "Bubnyshche", Mykhailo Hrushevsky defined Dovbush Rocks as a defensive rock-cave complex. The first researcher of the rocks was Ivan Vahylevych.
