Given with how broken Deadpool can be, the producers said they didn't want to have Deadpool in any actual further battles. So, they put Deadpool against a character soo overpowered and busted, he didn't stand a chance at beating. And while they said they wouldn't have Deadpool in any actual further battles, they would still have him make little pop-up cameos from time to time if the moment called for it.
The Mask is a character the utilizes things such as "Toon Force". Think all the stuff that characters like Bugs Bunny can do. Characters with Toon Force are essentially unkillable gods that can literally do ANYTHING they want as long as they get some enjoyment from it and quite literally cannot be killed unless they fully allow themselves to be killed.
