I installed the Old Jaguar kit in 2020 and highly recommend doing it. My 2007 XK's only fault, as far as i was concerned, was the ancient Infotainment system. I've had my XK for 12 years now, and it's been the best car I've ever owned.
Actually we've released a patch to make AUX activation on 2010+ XK(R)s a lot easier, password generator is NOT required. And with this patch its possible to retrofit a backup camera too) As far as i remember Cameron already posted it on a jaguarforums in a X150 section
Nice video! Just FYI in the meantime we came up with a solution to activate the AUX in 2010MY-onward XKs without needing a password anymore, but you still need SDD...
I had my Apple CarPlay fitted by cartronics about 2 years ago , it was still £1600 then , they couldn’t enable the AUX on a 2014 XKR 5.0 Supercharged , so we have connected it via the MOST system (fibre optic) , this gives you one more switch in the glovebox where the usb lead is, it’s very easy to use , either plug it in or Bluetooth it. For me it was worth every penny to bring such a gorgeous car up-to date. 👍
I've got the bluetooth adapter in my 2013 and it works well. Sadly, the infotainment screen has been glitching so now I'm trying to install an aftermarket Tesla style screen - without success so far.
Hi Tiff. I have a 2009 xkr which i bought from new and its defo a keeper! However, i totally agree re the stone age inability to connect an iphone. It has usb but sometimes works and sometimes does not. But…..recently i found a mr 12 volt system for £340 which i have bought and will be installing soon. It looks a bit of a fiddly job, but i see on the forums that others have fitted it and are pleased with it so will give it a try. It dies tge same thing..ie you get carplay etc. Just wondered if you had heard of this bit of kit and if you had any opinions on it ?
Hiya, I’m no expert but I have had a look at this recently - it uses the MOST fibre optic and like you say is much cheaper. I’ve only seen a couple of threads on the 12 volt (we may have seen the same ones given how new it is!) but it seems to work just as well. I hope we see some quotes for the installation made public soon, it seems like a better value option on the whole 👍🏼
Well I got the bezel off finally and fitted it all in yesterday. I have to say it works very well indeed and I am very pleased with it. There is no reason why anyone with some diy knowledge can’t fit it as long as you take it steady.
I thought the earlier cars had an AUX input already, and a 30-pin and USB under the armrest. Not my area of expertise I’m afraid but you can always speak to a car audio place to find a solution, or get an FM adaptor or Bluetooth adaptor thingy if you want a quick plug and play solution👍🏼
Thanks for watching! The two I refer to are Cartronics (Byfleet), and Oxford Car Audio. There are others fitters available of course, but those two were the ones that kept popping up as recommendations from others who retrofitted the kit before I did 👍🏼
No need for AUX with a new kit available as it uses a MOST connection, you need to remove the infotainment system and fit an extra board but it's really straightforward no soldering needed. You can switch between AA or Carplay and steering buttons for volume or tracks. I paid less than £300. Also just got AAWireless working with it and Torque Pro so now have dials for temps like oil, coolant and gearbox

Good to hear! If I could keep mine forever I would, absolutely the best car I’ve owned so far.

snap!
Ace, thanks for the update Nick 👍 pinning your comment for all prospective XK / CarPlay buyers to see!

Hope it’s all resolved soon, would be interesting to hear how you get on 👍🏼
Nice update Tiff! Would you do it again? Cost vs benefit
Thanks! I think it’s worth it for me, especially if you use your XK for road trips or on a more daily basis 👍🏼
Yep, I hear you! I’m over in Europe right now and it’d definitely be easier. Having said this, the XKR is an amazing tourer making road trips a joy
Enjoy your trip!

@@TiffLangham thanks Tiff. I am aiming to fit it myself. Hopefully there will not be tears before bedtime 🤯 i will let you know how i get on.
Best of luck with it, let me know how you get on! 👍🏼
@@TiffLangham will do. Struggling atm to get that bezel off 🤞

Any easy solution to add either aux and usb or such carplay on the earlier 2008 XKR please? any help would be much appreciated.

Hi thanks for the great info and demonstration. Could you please reply stating the names of the 2 companies that do the full fitting.
Many thanks.

Oxford car audio quoted me around £1400, got a better (imo) solution and fitted myself for less than £300
been looking for this for ages defo getting it might be cheaper getting the ssd software and doing it ur self
For sure, I’d be interested to hear how you get on as I don’t know anyone who’s done it themselves yet!

Also no need for extra buttons, just use the home button to go to and from the oem screen.
Sounds good, do you have a link to the kit / name of the site?
what should i Google
Would love to know the details of this kit too
Hi @daveg8604, that kit sounds like a great solution. Can you provide a link to where we can take a look at it please. Many thanks
That’s around 3 times more expensive as I was expecting. Good job though 👍
Thanks 👍🏼 yeah it was a bit of a shock when the first quote came through!
