I just don't get it. I don't get how calling for a ceasefire isn't the default position. The analysis of the dreadful Hamas attack was that Israeli security had been pared back and its intelligence didn't follow up on warnings from Egypt. This is not to blame Israel (can't believe I have to say that, but I do), however it is to say that if there was a ceasefire they would not be caught out again and therefore there's little risk to Israelis. Certainly less risk than the continued fighting poses to the hostages.
I have great respect for her, she is a true inspiration and a great politician. However, this conflict needs to be viewed with the widest eyes possible. Yes, people should be save in hospitals, no, children should not be killed or die. However, when a terrorist organisation hides in hospitals and schools and peoples homes to protect themselves then this is what happens. Free Palestine, stop the killing on both sides, remove and end Hamas, then we can have peace. If Hamas didn’t want the innocent to die, why do they hide behind them.? Stopping Israel for a few days will only allow Hamas to regroup and restock. Unless they agree there’s no point.
