In real life Klaus was in the German army in 1943 in the 'wehrmacht'. At that time he was 17 years old. He was captured in The Netherlands in 1944 and put in a British camp.

Kinski was a genius. He was successful with Herzogs films but with others before, too.

I have no difficulty imagining Selleck as Indiana Jones. He probably would have been better than Ford.
