I have a 2010 Ktm RC8 but not the "R" edition. The pegs, rear seat and tool kit/bag come in a box when you buy the bike. It takes all of 10 minutes to put them on but looks a lot nicer when they are off. I also have an FMF exhaust on my bike also. Its nice to finally hear the bike at speed because before I couldn't.
Wow, what a great sound, I want to get another bike to put next to my RSV4R in the garage, was thinking this or the Duc 1199. So far I like the white an orange,, black is a scratch magnet but looks awesome none the less. Thanks for sharing
Nice bike. That rc51 has been my favorite for years. Never could convince myself to switch to a twin when it came to it tho. The rc8 does make me second guess my inline 4 addiction.
Hi Allen, I got my 2014 about a year ago, and little at a time personalizing it. Yes the HEAT is strong on leg, At 60 yrs old its a joy to ride though. I'm REALLY interested in what you did for the heat shield. can you show pics or describe what you did, Thanks
I'm been using FMF's since I was a kid. I'm sure the Akrablahblah is fantastic but with all past experiences, my FMF exhausts have delivered solid power gains and great (but not obnoxious) sound. Plus, compare the price tags....
I just traded in my 2010 RC8 for the 2012 RC8R. The differences are worth it. The new RC8R is almost as fast as the 2010 was with pipe, filter and power commander. The newer one is also a couple pounds heavier making it more stable in the corners and the matte white on the RC8 is hard to keep clean (the new one is all gloss). The new one also has a smoother transition from decel, to accel. There is still no electronics but I don't think about all that when I ride and I have not needed them yet..
love fast v twins. I have an rc51 like the one in the video but with jardine 2 into 1 exhaust with carbon fiber can. I was gonna get an inline four but once i heard this i had to have it
great video fella.I have a 2010 kwak Z1000 and just bought a 2010 ktm 690smc.Both have full akrapovic systems on.I love both bikes and am planning on getting a 2009 RC8 next year.I might be able to stretch to an RC8R but I have a strong urge to sell one or both of my bikes and get one like yours.I already have a JCE exhaust for the rc8 sitting up i my attic. Im just wondering if there would be a big difference between an older RC8 and your bike.Keep the 3 or get a new RC8R???
Sounds awesome. After having it on a little while now are you still happy with FMF? And does the FMF pipe void the warranty? Did u have to mod the under pan ?
What was the word from FMF? What did they say about the fitment? I was looking at the full Street Performance kit from Akrapovic but that's way too much money imo...so I was looking the FMF. If you have any flyby vids, that'd be great!
@ironmedic I had them all removed in the video, but I put the mirrors/front signals back on cause the stupid Army said so, and I had a rear bracket made for plate, plate light, and signals.
@boom10123 After the ECU was remapped for the exhaust, it runs 100 times better and faster. I was quite surprised to lift up the front while in third gear. Its a whole new bike now.
Hi i'm running into the same problem with the heat on my right leg. Feels like my right shin is on fire. could you take a pic of your heat sheild you made? thanks marc
I have the same bike and I can assure you the video sound quality doesn't do this thing justice. My ears were ringing for the first few days of having my pipe fitted.
@01Extreme69 depends on how much money you are willing to spend and how much time you are willing to devote to trying to get really good at riding. The new BMW and aprilia have different settings you can use for traction control and power output.and you should not buy an Ducati or Ktm without any experience either. just my 2 cents
you do get less lean angle with proper body positioning but in tight corners with good speed the bike will still lean far enough to lose the chicken strips.
Quick question. Im thinking about buying either this bike or the 848 evo. It will be my first sport bike I always hear people say start out small but is that really necessary?
@tomatenzopp It was still new. I could always gloat and show my pucks on my leathers, from riding the RC51. No one should buy a RC8, without intentions of throwing it through some twistys.
Thats regular FMF fitment imo. I would not cry about that if you only have a 1-2mm clearance between the fairing and tip. Either turn down the can so the tip points lower (if possible), or trim the plastic a bit. If that is not acceptable, buy Akra. Perfect fit 'n finish every time! :) You know then why Akra costs approx twice what the FMF is.
@AbuLaith03 I got it from jaxmotosport (dot) com. I spent about 3 weeks trying to find someone who had it in stock. I also called FMF, and they didn't even have any in stock. Good luck, and jump on one when you find it. I did not remap or add the PC yet. I am in the Military and getting stationed in Europe so I am going to get the ECU flashed to Euro specs before I do any electronic mods.
@rosander08 I personally have been riding sportbikes for about 13 years, and I would also recommend starting with a 600. This KTM would not be a good beginner bike. Its very touchy. Look at 600's and 1000's from a big picture. They are very similar with a few differences. The 1000's have a slightly faster top end, (maybe 15mph), they are touchy, and less forgiving. If you want a bike for a status, you should get a cruiser. These WILL KILL YOU, especially being inexperience for the power.
I`m jealous of your licence plate.... ours are around 5 times bigger... kills every bike on which you put it... so you gotta modifications that cops really adore ...
engine start at 2:38
thanks
great bike, i was so glad to see that rc51. V-twins for life!
I have a 2010 Ktm RC8 but not the "R" edition. The pegs, rear seat and tool kit/bag come in a box when you buy the bike. GOOD LOOKING AND SOUNDING BIKE. SOUNDS A LOT LIKE A DUCATI. NICE!
my 97 Suzuki tl1000s sounded like that love it

Inline 4's cant compare to twins on the streets.
Such an awesome bike
@KOSKESH43 FMF calls it a full system, but not really. It does not replace headers.
music to my ears
@ironmedic Yes, it has plugs where the seat mounts while not using it. The pass seat is actually not to bad either.

Man I love twins.

JAXSB!! hell ya! but on another note i fucking love this bike and have been looking everywhere for one.....the search continues
love fast v twins. I have an rc51 like the one in the video but with jardine 2 into 1 exhaust with carbon fiber can. I was gonna get an inline four but once i heard this i had to have it
thats everything a man could ask for ...
Beautiful bike man!

you should post a video on your heat shield, i'm interested to see what you did there.
Sick bike!
@DucRacerX There is a seat that attaches.
damn that bike is awesome!!!

Kick ass Bike !!!

Good video with good info.

Hi i'm running into the same problem with the heat on my right leg. Feels like my right shin is on fire. could you take a pic of your heat sheild you made? thanks
marc
do u mean north jax motorsports by any chance?
@DucRacerX Was able to fix the issue, had to adjust the brackets and springs.
Very very beautyful sound exaut TOP BOY
ddo u ride this beast on a track only or commute daily?
I have the same bike and I can assure you the video sound quality doesn't do this thing justice. My ears were ringing for the first few days of having my pipe fitted.

@01Extreme69 but the passanger has no seat right ?
you do get less lean angle with proper body positioning but in tight corners with good speed the bike will still lean far enough to lose the chicken strips.
what do you think about it compared to the 51. i miss having one and i need a bike with soul again
@AbuLaith03 I have not added a PC, I heard there was a way to remap the ecu, but cant find the program or adapters to do it.
Quick question. Im thinking about buying either this bike or the 848 evo. It will be my first sport bike I always hear people say start out small but is that really necessary?
my uncle had a busa with stage 6 turbo did over 300 mph on closed down air strip
very nice bike
How did you get rear passenger pegs? I always see the bike without them.
i see you have passenger pegs did you put them on or did your bike come that way?
how that thing ride? idk the seat and tank look like it would be uncomfortable
@tomatenzopp It was still new. I could always gloat and show my pucks on my leathers, from riding the RC51. No one should buy a RC8, without intentions of throwing it through some twistys.
someone got a nice bonus
@Pmason718 The bike came with pass pegs.
My phone can't render this video right so it always is in negative and it makes the bike an awesome electric blue color. If only it was real!
Dude, which do you prefer, RC51 or the RC8r? I have a RC51 and thinking of swapping it for an RC8r
Thats regular FMF fitment imo. I would not cry about that if you only have a 1-2mm clearance between the fairing and tip. Either turn down the can so the tip points lower (if possible), or trim the plastic a bit.

I would get surgery to get one of my balls removed to have a 2013 rc8r
Hi!
Do you know if the company export this exhaust? Do you have their website or e-mail address? Thanks D.
can you not angle the pipe down?
Well of course the RC8 is better-it's 6 years newer! I still love my RC51 tho. RC8s are freakin SICK tho.
What's better? RC51 or RC8?

Sexiest bike on the road. Period
nice bike, and nice chicken strips ;))
@fumundad5knuts Came with them
I am a long time 51 rider. how do they compare. is the rc8 as hot and does it make brutal power like the 51. my 51 tries to rip itself out of my hands
Rc51 is a slouch.
I`m jealous of your licence plate.... ours are around 5 times bigger... kills every bike on which you put it... so you gotta modifications that cops really adore ...
Fmf. File to make fit.
by careful buddy, mine just got stolen last night :(
What happened? Tell us. Make a short vid about it.
anyone else catch that scream at the end??? wtf was that all about??
let me know if you could e-mail me those pics.
is that a 125cc?
1148 cc
haha what the fuck!!
If your not gonna rev it don't start it
You should change your back sprocket to a 40 teeth.. it goes alot better, easy'er to ride and everything :)) !
@vafireman21 I miss my RC51, but love the KTM. KTM is so much better.
@MrCoryjames86 Might be selling this one. Maybe....... I got over $20k in it.
@akchronic79 Yeah, Cant please everyone, but atleast you know I aint some toolbag paid by KTM to post a vid. So enjoy, and quite complaining.
