    I have the petrol pre facelift mk2
    I personally prefer the older style front end, I do like the facelift model but I think it’d have to grow on me like it did for you
    I couldn’t even imagine getting rid of my little beast ❤️

    Oh the Crow Road up the Campsies is epic to test cars on. I used to have (might he getting it back) mk2 (pre fl) octavia vRS remapped and what a car! Nearly 200k on it and still pulls like a train running about 216bhp. I love the mk5 Golf GTD/GTI but the Octavia is much more practical.

      @HimiJ  3 роки тому +1

      Yeah brilliant road, a remap would really bring the car alive! Being a Mk5 GTI owner I completely agree - the Octavia is more practical. Thanks for the comment 👊🏼

    I have this car in the estate body style, full leather seats, 2.0 TDI VRS it's fantastic and such a sleeper, lots of fun cruising along then suddenly power for days

      Like you do, I got in the boot when I got home from buying it last month, I could probably sleep in there if I had to but I don't think that's what sleepers are for 😁
      This is my second sleeper car, I'm a bit hooked on sleepers, the 2014 model year pergeot 308 HDI is another silly fast hatch you should try and take a look at changed my view on the brand entirely

    • @HimiJ
      @HimiJ  3 роки тому

      308 sounds interesting, I'll look it up. My friend had a 206 GTI which was good fun, Peugeot can make a good hatch 👌🏼

    Just bought a 2007 2.0 petrol one. Thanks for the review but you would kill 4 one, I don't seem to understand what you are talking about. Mine is the 200pk one and with stage one it will have around 245. The engine is so much fun. Mine has done 185.000km and I bought 4new pistons and will make it new again. Its grey/silver and a station version. Awesome car.

    Excellent ! I am eager to know the suspension and springs being used on this VRS diesel model. In India we have rough road package offered on this MK2 Octavia ( called Laura ) where the springs are longer and hence handling is compromised.
    Is that just the springs that are different between VRS and non-VRS diesel ? Or even the struts are different ? Could you please share the part numbers of the VRS diesel struts and springs if you know ? So that I will upgrade. Thanks a ton !

    Great video, lovely shots esp from the drone. You bought yourself a really clean vRS. Body and interior are very clean. I'm well jealous.
    I bought a ex police car with 112,000 miles. Serviced every 6 months. It's a 2012 mk2 in blue / petrol vRS with all the trimmings except sunroof. It's body and interior has had adaptations due to it being an ex police car. First week of owning it, pistons were fried and had the head rebuilt. (Garage I purchased it from repaired it Inc timing chain)
    I've owned my ex police car now for 2 years and I absolutely love it. It's got 140k on the clock and drives like a dream. Replaced the alloys with B8 Rline alloys and she looks a beaut. I service my vRS every year and I'm waiting for this girl to die. Because I'll buy a fully loaded mk2 vRS all over again in the best condition I can afford. The car is absolutely amazing. I love pulling past people at the lights. Acceleration and power are so good, it's the same engine as a GTI. And people don't expect that from a car with a Skoda badge. And that's where you get them, because the vast majority don't know - hence sleeper.
    I remember driving along a straight road with a group of lads in an Audi beside me. I passed them with ease and they all looked in surprise as I drove pass. We got to a set of lights up ahead and they put their window down and asked 'what ltr is your engine?' I replied it's just a 2 ltr like your, but how are you driving an Audi and I'm in a Skoda and I beat you?
    They all cracked up laughing.
    I love this car!!

      Thanks for your comment, I'm happy you enjoyed the video.
      Ex-police car sounds awesome, always liked the blue they come in. The petrol is a peach of an engine 👌🏼. The vRS can definitely upset a lot of cars 💪🏼. Thanks again for the comment and all the best with your Mk2 👊🏼

    Why diesel and not petrol? Petrol has a top-speed of 238 km/h and more power output! Diesel has only a better torque.

    Just discovered your channel, I am after a MK2 vRS but still not sure which engine to go for. Decisions, decisions......

    • @HimiJ
      @HimiJ  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks for watching, having experienced both engines - (my Mk5 GTI has the petrol unit), it really comes down to what you'll use the car for.
      Performance wise the petrol is better and is more tuneable, you can push them up to 250bhp on a stage 1 map! It is a very impressive engine.
      MPG wise the diesel steals the show , the diesel will easily do 50+mpg on a run where as you would probably be looking at around 35 mpg in the petrol. City driving and short journeys the petrol will get low 20s while the diesel might be hitting 30. In general the diesel is always 10 to 15 (even 20) mpg ahead.
      The early petrol engines need some TLC (dv valve, thermostat, cam follower, pcv) they are just getting to that age, they aren't major but early engines especially might need a few things changed to get them running right.
      It is a very difficult choice, tradeoff between performance and economy, I'd say if you're planning to keep the petrol stock - the performance might not outweigh the economy of the diesel. But if you're wanting to map the car and have a really fast hot hatch go for the petrol. A mapped diesel could be a good bet as well (never driven one tho). Good luck with your choice, can't really go wrong with either way!

      @@HimiJ it will be a daily commuter, mostly on b roads. Diesel does sound a good option as research shows a stage 1 will give 200 bhp and a shade under 400 nm.

    • @HimiJ
      @HimiJ  3 роки тому +1

      Yeah diesel has excellent torque, my mums been driving the diesel in this video for 6 years! Been an excellent car throughout. I posted a mk2 vRS service video a few days ago, check it out...

      Thanks for the comment 👊🏼, completely agree they are awesome cars.
      I found the handling pretty good, and had a lot more confidence in the car than I thought I would, I've not driven many cars though so would be interesting to drive a Mk6/7 GTI and see how they compare, a lot of reviewers say the GTI is sharper.
      Out of interest, what car did you move onto after the Octavia, we've owned it for 6 years and we're looking to replace it but it's difficult deciding where to go next 🤔.

      With regards to handling, I found it okay on b roads and normal roads however when on the motorway it just felt soo floaty and disconnected, Never inspired me with confidence in honesty, I used to hate driving on the motorway but on b roads it was such a fun car

    • @inter7373

      I never got a chance to drive it on the motorway, interesting to hear. Yeah that's the problem so difficult finding what to buy next 🤔. Phaeton must eat away motorway miles! I'm also not a big diesel fan even after driving the Octavia, seems to lack drama and excitement.
