@@retrodadstl Yeah, take it slow, when you're trying to control a character who's known for being speedy, genius! It worked so well with Sonic after all, Sonic Labyrinth and whatnot
After a long string of either Nintendo victories, ties, or wins in the "worst game" category, good to see Sega, and specifically the Genesis score best game on Console Wars again.
Towards the beginning of the channel it felt like SEGA won a lot more often. But I could be wrong as I haven't seen every single episode, even though I of course want to see them all eventually.
@@CaptainCaveman1170 I don't think it's been anything deliberate about Sega not winning best game lately. It just so happened that the last year or so has featured a lot of stronger games from the SNES and/or worse ones from Genesis.

Like getting squished and then being a pancake for a brief time period, or head suddenly being made of rubber when you get an anvil falling on you - as a kid it was just a lot of fun looking at him getting damaged in different ways (which is not a sentence you should take out of context).
While I love the head to head discussions and the back and forth banter, I think my absolute favorite part of each episode is Dan's, "That's it! Are we doin this!?" followed by Pat's, "[insert ever increasingly long yet still scientifically accurate statement of fact].... Yes!" Keep up the awesome work gents!!!!
I've been looking forward to seeing this episode for a long time. As a Sega gamer, I'm glad to see Desert Demolition won this round. I've been able to beat that game many times as both Wile E. and Road Runner. I tried playing Death Valley Rally with the 75 lives code. I played it for about two hours and got burnout at Quantum Beep Act 2. We're about halfway through the Looney Tunes games, as we previously had episodes centered around the Tiny Toons (Buster Busts Loose Vs. Buster's Hidden Treasure) and Taz-Mania (Sunsoft Vs. Sega). Hope to see episodes centered around Bugs Bunny (Rabbit Rampage Vs. Double Trouble), Daffy Duck (The Marvin Missions Vs. Hollywood), and Speedy Gonzales (Los Gatos Bandidos Vs. Cheese Cat-astrophe) in the future.
I'm sure they will have a hard time getting European Mega Drive versions of both Daffy Duck in Hollywood and Cheese Cat-Astrophe starrting Speedy Gonzalez, as neither of them were released on North America. Sega usually cattered Europe better with their Looney Tunes licensed games.
@@FlyingDuckMan360 Yeah, but it's not their usual. When a Mega Drive game is not released on North America, and there's many cases for that, it's harder for them to get it and do the episode. Remember they usually get the games through donations, and in this case they'll probably need someone from Europe (or Australia, as Daze Before Christmas is one of the very few it was released especifically in Australia) to ship them the cartridge.

Thanks for reviewing these. My grandfather on my dad's side of the family absolutely LOVED the Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote. Sadly, he passed away last year. I fully intend to pick up a copy of Desert Demolition in his memory.
Thank you guys for reminding me how frustrating the Snes version is. When I was a kid, my dad rented from block buster. Thank god I didn’t pay full price for it. 😂😂😂. Once again great episode guys 🎉
I remember playing Death Valley Rally, and I agree with Dan: the game looks great, but the controls were just notorious. It took me a while to beat the game, and it is fun once you get used to it. But when I tried playing it again some time ago (after 20-30 years), yeah, it wasn't worth it. Never played the Genesis version, but no surprise that the SNES received that critique.
That bonus stage music in Desert Demolition really reminds me of Andy's Asteroids in Earthworm Jim. Telltale sign that both games used the GEMS sound driver. Also, the stage at around 6:47 reminds me A LOT of the Sega Genesis version of Aladdin. It's odd that the games weren't published by the same team, because those assets almost look like they were lifted directly from Aladdin. I think I'll have to check this one out, it looks more fun than I'd expect for a licensed game.
BlueSky Software actually developed the Aladdin game, but it was cancelled in favor of Virgin game. There's even an Easter egg with a Genie lamp in the Jurassic Park map screen. There's no screenshots or ROMs available unfortunately, but there's an article about it in Sega-16, look it up. I guess some assets were reused from that scrapped game.
Probably Desert Demolition is indeed reusing assets from the scrapped Blue Sky Software's Aladdin game for the Mega Drive. It makes sense because of the timeframe. It may remind to Virgin's Aladdin game because of the common Aladdin theme, but they are not quite the same. If one day a prototype of Blue Sky Software's Aladdin game for the Mega Drive ever surfaces, we'll proably see most of the same assets unless they were quite retouched. But I'm sure that desert village will probably look quite the same except for maybe the background.
This was hilarious as always 😂. You just keep improving man stay safe guys! And I like the Sega one, but agree that the music should have just played independently.
This certainly was a fun episode. Sometimes it’s fun knowing which is better or worse if your familiar with both games. I grew up with Demolition Desert, and have fond memories with it. Death Valley Rally I will give it credit for the boss fight presentation aspect, but overall just from what I’ve seen it isn’t as good as the Sega game for all the points addressed. It comes down to what is the most enjoyable experience, and what have the most defining features. Awesome job you two.
Played both these games as a kid. A friend had a copy of Death Valley Rally. I had the Genesis so I had Desert Demolition. I would watch the Looney Tunes everyday as a kid, didn't matter what channel it was on so I saw a lot of Coyote and Road Runner shorts. Both games accomplish having the feel of the Looney Tunes down pat. Glad I was here for the premier, had fun in the chat. Great video as always, guys.
Interesting and exciting well done! I think i've mentioned it before but you guys should try the puzzle game ''Lemmings'' lots of pros for Dan as the Sega port has more levels, better music and even a hidden sound test, worth looking into for a future episode.

@@RitzLazyArtist I disagree, atleast I don't think it's an obvious win on all categories. For one, I think the graphics and presentation are much better in Soleil. As gameplay goes, it's close, depending on preference it could just as well go to either one.

I think it´d be great if you guys are able to make a comparison of Thunder Force III for the Sega Genesis to Thunder Spirits for the Super Nintendo. Thunder Force III was adopted to the arcade after the Genesis release and then the arcade version was adopted to the SNES as the renamed Thunder Spirits game, so the two versions are still pretty similar. Thunder Force III was included in the Sega Genesis Mini collection. Thanks for your hard work!
Hey dude, I loved your suggestion. May I bull in your comment a little. I played both. And I must say they are both good games, but they are not so similar. First Snes feels harder. Enemies and bosses take more hits and stages are too unforgiving. It reminds me of Phalanx. A game unnecessarly hard for the wrong reasons. Also Snes tries to mimic Genesis soundtrack instead of exploring its capabilities to make its own music. The Genesis looks so more original with the right tune and extra features like letting you choose which stage to start for example. Thunder Spirits on Snes looks surfacy. Just 1 more generic shmup on the System. Although the graphics are pretty good. The Genesis easilly has this one. That's my veredict.
I would love to have a note from you guys explaining to my boss why I'm not productive at work this week, since I watched your video at 11h15 pm, sunday night. That way, I won't get in any trouble. Thanks!
Agreed with the Sega version looking more organic. Got the same feel with the Genesis version of Aladdin vs. SNES version. I played Death Valley Rally on the SNES and it was very tough just finishing the first world.

this youtube channel appeals to me because back in the early 90s I was that kid whom had a Genesis and SNES and I would have to choose which version of the game I wanted. Now days we don't get these type of variations, more likely they are exactly the same ported to diff consoles.
fun fact: all of those dithered columns of pixels for shading and color gradients on the Genesis are a deliberate programming choice to take advantage of a quirk of the Genesis' composite video encoder. If you play it on a CRT via composite, the color fidelity will actually look better than the pixel-perfect RGB or emulation video... same thing with Earthworm Jim, and a bunch of other late Genesis titles

It's only on model 1 for stereo output, either on headphones or on TV speakers with 3.5mm TRS to left/right RCA plug cable.
@@RitzLazyArtist I am aware but needed it for the joke 🤣
to turn the volume up to max, right? bring joy to the whole family :) and even the neighbors :)
As a child I remember adjusting it repeatedly, with no luck, and thinking the console must've been defective. Then I noticed the headphone jack... 🙌
I love this channel soooooo much!
Glad to see Pat doing the Wily Coyote reference in the end.LOL.
@@grongy6122 That makes sense. Definitely seems too close to be a coincidence.
I'm glad I'm not the only one to notice this, I thought the game had some aladdin looking levels to it
Probably Desert Demolition is indeed reusing assets from the scrapped Blue Sky Software's Aladdin game for the Mega Drive.
Omg the diffusing password scene.
Still one of the best shows on UA-cam
You're too kind!
Another GREAT video guys! this was a close one too. fantastic comparison and break down. Keep up the amazing work!
Glad you enjoyed it!
This was hilarious as always 😂. You just keep improving man stay safe guys!
And I like the Sega one, but agree that the music should have just played independently.
Glad you enjoyed!
I love your videos. Not just for the subject matter but also because they’re just so dang fun.
That's what we're all about. Having fun!
So much fun! Next episode is gonna be da bomb
This comment help me figure out the episode hint
This certainly was a fun episode. Sometimes it’s fun knowing which is better or worse if your familiar with both games. I grew up with Demolition Desert, and have fond memories with it. Death Valley Rally I will give it credit for the boss fight presentation aspect, but overall just from what I’ve seen it isn’t as good as the Sega game for all the points addressed. It comes down to what is the most enjoyable experience, and what have the most defining features. Awesome job you two.
Thank you so much!
Hey guys.... Hello from the UK! The end of that video (the rocket shoe thing) was comic genius! I can't stop laughing! I loved the Xmas tree..... Nice touch. 😂
Yeah, Pat was very excited to have a Christmas tree thrown at him lol
@@ConsoleWars I also Loved the fact water was thrown at him not once but twice! Ha!
@@wibbiddywoo Actually, it was 3 times!
@@ConsoleWars Haha! I just watched it again. It was 3 times wasn't it?! I just noticed how after the exploding melons that he is eating a piece of it too! Well funny! 👍
Best most horrific opening you’ve done yet. I love it! Oh my eyes!
I knew the darker that scene got, the better it would be
@@ConsoleWars Brilliant as always guys!
Dat thumbnail though! XD
This channel is so underrated. The people must know about this. More power from the philippines :)
The Philippines! Did you know Dan is half Filipino?
@@ConsoleWars really thats cool. Thats why he so good looking lol.
«Desert Demolition» was one of my favorite childhood games! Thanks for a great episode!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I was LITERALLY thinking just a few weeks ago about you guys doing this episode. You are mind readers.
Hope you enjoyed it!
@@ConsoleWars I did.
Great episode, your productions are tons of fun!
Would still love to see A link to the Past vs Soleil.
Zelda wins on that one.
@@RitzLazyArtist I disagree, atleast I don't think it's an obvious win on all categories. For one, I think the graphics and presentation are much better in Soleil. Music and sound might go to Zelda for being much more iconic but I personally think that both soundtracks are great. As gameplay goes, it's close, depending on preference it could just as well go to either one.
18:37 Woah! I just noticed that scorpion looks similar to the ones you encounter in The Lost Vikings Egyptian stages.
You know what. Pat is pretty awesome.
Amazing Episode!!! I really enjoyed the Earthworm Jim cameo!!😆👌👌
Thanks. Its nice to have Jim from time to time
"mano y mano" means "hand to hand" and only one of these characters has "hands".
Big fan of longer episodes, less time looking for something to watch and more time watching something, thanks for that. See you guys next ep!
But seriously, "Dr. Pepper fights bad guys now!?" will be making me laugh for at least a week, lol.
Is “mano a mano”
Glad you enjoyed it!
When I think you guys can’t do better, you prove me wrong. Well done.
We surprise ourselves too.
Thank you guys for the quality videos! Every time you release one, it's an event!
That theme song still slaps, even ten years later! It'll never get old!
Also, I'd love to see these VS battles:
Chrono Trigger VS Phantasy Star IV
FF3/6 VS Phantasy star 3
Mario world VS sonic 3
Yoshi's Island VS Sonic 2
Mega Man X VS Shinobi 3
Donkey Kong Country VS Vector Man
Super Metroid vs Ecco the Dolphin
and Knights of the round VS Golden Axe 2 or 3?
If you guys do these topics, then my, and many other people's lives will be officially complete! :)
Great show guys!!! Never see that Roadrunner game for the Genesis, look really fun and animations pretty sweets!! Ahh and Pat got to win an award for that evil laught!! Greetings!!
Best evil laugh ever!
This game and the Sylvester and Tweety both on Genesis are MASTERPIECES!
The scene from Misery is just a bomb! Like always a great episode.
That was fun to recreate.
24:39 He looks like Wiley during the Devil's Backbone race at the end of Airborne (1993)
26:45 It is Bomberman next
Your video made me want to play Desert Demolition so much^^ I just got it today at a video game store and I gotta say, this game is absoluetly fantastic! Keep up the good work guys :)
Nice! Try getting all the bonus stages. It’s fun to see those other looney toons characters
I’d love it if you compared
Krusty’s Super Fun House
Aaahh Real Monsters
The Jungle Book
Pinocchio
The Flintstones (Genesis) vs. Treasure of Sierra Madrock (SNES)
and worst version of
Bubsy II
Shaq Fu
Virtual Bart
Don't forget Tiny Toons: ACME All-Stars (Genesis) vs. Wacky Sports Challenge (SNES)
Love you guys! Thank you for making these amazingly fun and entertaining videos!
Glad you like them!
Man, about time. Sega hasn't won in too long.
The dynamic duo is back at it again
That's my veredict.
hmm, this is tough. both games have roadrunner but football in the groin had a football in the groin
I actually laughed out loud at this one. Nicely done!
I love the michelobs in the background
We did too lol
Are there any good Buggs Bunny games to compare on the Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo?
Bugs Bunny Rabbit Rampage (SNES) & Bugs Bunny Double Trouble (Genesis)
Man it's been a while since you had an episode this good!
Thanks!
I would love to have a note from you guys explaining to my boss why I'm not productive at work this week, since I watched your video at 11h15 pm, sunday night. That way, I won't get in any trouble.
Thanks!
We will gladly write that note lol
@@ConsoleWars 😋😄😄 have a nice day!!!
Agreed with the Sega version looking more organic. Got the same feel with the Genesis version of Aladdin vs. SNES version. I played Death Valley Rally on the SNES and it was very tough just finishing the first world.
One of the best retro video gaming channel and there's only 64K subcribers? This just can't be. I have to re-watch videos guys, what happened to you? May be doesn't reach 100k subcribers let you down, but never surrender guys, I've been member of this channel for about 8 years, haven't missed any video, wanna see new material more often, come on guys, don't disappoint your followers, the one who love your videos. I've beenasking for a MK3 war, and until now haven't seen any response more than a joke in one video, 100% sure SEGA will win in that one, I strongly believe it's time to do it!
Please, keep on working on, I really don't want to see the death of this marvelous channel, just keep working and never give up.
Love your channel guys, and I repeat, "one of the best channels, but of the whole You Tube.
Love your channel guys, hope to watch new material soon.
Are we doing this?
I played the hell out of this game when I was 16-17. Tough as nails but one of the most rewarding endings ever
this youtube channel appeals to me because back in the early 90s I was that kid whom had a Genesis and SNES and I would have to choose which version of the game I wanted.
Love the Cowboy Bebop picture on the wall.
Thanks. I drew it!
These 2012 production values are amazing.
Really love your videos guys, excellent work as always! You.guys should cover Saturday Night Slam Masters! It was a port of the Capcom arcade game for both Genesis and SNES.
SNES version is a clear winner for the exclusive 4-player tag team mode.
@@RitzLazyArtist maybe..
More than just entertaining. I'll never see Tails in the same light again. Great job guys! Loved it.
Thank you!
