    Regardless of the unfortunate circumstances of others, Lionel crushed this race. His run was epic. Great way to end an awesome season. Vincent Luis is a class act through and through, and gritty as hell for finishing second.

      Geens getting a drafting penalty is not unfortunate. Of course he was probably not trying to cheat, but you got to pay attention to the rules man. Luis crashing really sucked. Now as you say, Lionel killed it !

      Me too, I even got duped by one of his videos from a previous years race. I realised when he said he had to stop for a shit twice on the run and I couldn't believe he'd run a 1:09 with two stops!

    If I was one of Lionel's rivals, his sheer intensity would scare the shit out of me. He will not quit. The more he races and competes against the best, the more his level goes up. #nolimits He will raise the bar as high as he needs to and then furiously crush that bar.

    I’ve been waiting for this video all week. Lionel, I agree that you can’t control the circumstances of other racers, you just have to perform your best. Better to have won, than lost to someone who crashed. I wish Luis the best on recovery, he’s a true competitor.

    Really enjoyed this video! Incredible sportsmanship on display. It seems so counter intuitive with these guys literally battling and going to the darkest places for the win; yet, the level of respect and humility is just as inspiring as the incredible athletic performances.     Seeing my two idols racing each others in the same race was something I was looking for. It is unfortunate that Vincent got hit by a car. I have been watching you both racing in your formats (LS in long distance and Vince in ITU/SL) and you are both inspiring me at getting better and better. I am definitely looking forward to other races where you guys can show us epic battles! All the best to you Lionel.

    Well done Lionel. It was.a blast following your run on the bike, especially watching you push yourself while solo for so much of the run. Thought I was going to have a front row seat to an epic battle. Well done to Luis to and Jelle as well. No limits.

    It is really hard to overstate the impact that Lionel is having in the triathlon community. This thing that he does to elevate other people, showcasing new talent and continue to work to improve his game is very inspiring. He is also changing the sport by making it more appealing from a media perspective. Keep up the great work and congratulations to Talbot Cox for the great way to document and tell the story

    Hey Lionel, great humility and good to see you acknowledge the other guys misfortune. Do you put hair conditioner on your legs? Wetsuits peel off easier than a banana skin. Use thin rubber bands on the heal tabs on your shoes and attached to the bike however you can. Shoes are up ready to go.

    Lionel just wrap the rubber bands around your shoe where your foot slides in and then tie one to the frame that's attached to that band. That's how Jan used to do it with those shoes.

      I used to agree. But after all these years he probably won't gain from a run form change or actually be able to sort it.
      I have a perfect run form and a couple of fellow parkrun runners have terrible run form. They are both faster. It's the engine that matters..

    Hey that's me at @1:04 right behind haha I should've surged at end to be ahead darnit. Any case just wanted to comment on the "unfortunate circumstances" of the others. Vincent getting hit by a car is absolutely ridiculous. Ironman should be ashamed that that can happen, and continues to happen race after race look at Matt Russell in Kona. However, Geens getting a draft penatly - That is not a piece of adversity to overcome, or something to feel empathy for. He cheated and got a penalty for it case closed. I'll say because I did see what was going on in front two groups there should've been a lot more blue cards shown in fact.

    It's interesting to see records being set by short distance guys. Maybe the tear and recovery cycle has more benefits even for long distance performances? Long distance specialists has to have the efficiency advantage
