Lionels humility and sportsmanship is deeply inspiring to listen to. He's such a great ambassador for showing how awesome sports and competition can be. Also very grateful to Talbot for making these videos and sharing them with the world!
Regardless of the unfortunate circumstances of others, Lionel crushed this race. His run was epic. Great way to end an awesome season. Vincent Luis is a class act through and through, and gritty as hell for finishing second.
Geens getting a drafting penalty is not unfortunate. Of course he was probably not trying to cheat, but you got to pay attention to the rules man. Luis crashing really sucked. Now as you say, Lionel killed it !
Me too, I even got duped by one of his videos from a previous years race. I realised when he said he had to stop for a shit twice on the run and I couldn't believe he'd run a 1:09 with two stops!
Bro, nobody is gonna comment on those AMAZING shots and edit from Talbot? This guy is actually changing the sport of triathlon from a media perspective
This is getting better and better. So good. Lionel is tough and the competition is fierce. Makes for the best triathlon footage ever! The sport is getting super interesting.
If I was one of Lionel's rivals, his sheer intensity would scare the shit out of me. He will not quit. The more he races and competes against the best, the more his level goes up. #nolimits He will raise the bar as high as he needs to and then furiously crush that bar.
When I see Lionel I see a warrior...........from now on you are Lionel "The Gladiator" Sanders. Put that on youre bike it motivate you Lionel! Congrats from the Netherlands.
What a smile when he wins!!! Beautiful!!! Love the analysis and what he could do better, as well! But man, what a difference when Lionel wins! Woot woot!
I’ve been waiting for this video all week. Lionel, I agree that you can’t control the circumstances of other racers, you just have to perform your best. Better to have won, than lost to someone who crashed. I wish Luis the best on recovery, he’s a true competitor.
Feels like one of the best videos yet! To Lionel- Thanks for inspiring the world! To me you are just like Kipchoge, a true champion of the human spirit in sport. We look up to you, and your example feeds inspiration to us all! Cheers on the most amazing season ever!
Lionel, you’re always the greater man, despite all the possible negative comments. Congratulations for winning the race !! Keep it up and I look forward to watching you in your next endeavors. Cheers Champ and all the best
This is my favorite version of Lionel: hollow win if he didn't fight for it. You've got excuses? I've got mine too and none of that matters. GD legend.
Really enjoyed this video! Incredible sportsmanship on display. It seems so counter intuitive with these guys literally battling and going to the darkest places for the win; yet, the level of respect and humility is just as inspiring as the incredible athletic performances. Keep it up Lionel! Massive respect.
Seeing my two idols racing each others in the same race was something I was looking for. It is unfortunate that Vincent got hit by a car. I have been watching you both racing in your formats (LS in long distance and Vince in ITU/SL) and you are both inspiring me at getting better and better. I am definitely looking forward to other races where you guys can show us epic battles! All the best to you Lionel.
Well done Lionel. It was.a blast following your run on the bike, especially watching you push yourself while solo for so much of the run. Thought I was going to have a front row seat to an epic battle. Well done to Luis to and Jelle as well. No limits.
I love Lionel so much!! Such a fan girl over here. And completely agree with him on Vinc’s character of continuing to race instead of a temper tantrum…very classy and hats off it all of them. Go Lionel!!!
great shit brother. way to get after it. you deserve that 100. just wanna say for the people hosting the races, it’s ridiculous that you can have streets blocked off and still manage to get one of your participants hit. crazy.
It is really hard to overstate the impact that Lionel is having in the triathlon community. This thing that he does to elevate other people, showcasing new talent and continue to work to improve his game is very inspiring. He is also changing the sport by making it more appealing from a media perspective. Keep up the great work and congratulations to Talbot Cox for the great way to document and tell the story
All my respect for your humility, maybe you didn’t win this race but like always, you show a lesson of life racing. Can’t wait to see all this anger in the next race !!
Hey Lionel, great humility and good to see you acknowledge the other guys misfortune. Do you put hair conditioner on your legs? Wetsuits peel off easier than a banana skin. Use thin rubber bands on the heal tabs on your shoes and attached to the bike however you can. Shoes are up ready to go.
You did run the same race everyone did and you didn’t cheat… What is there to question??? Excellent win!!! Merry Xmas and Happy New Year Li and community!
Lionel just wrap the rubber bands around your shoe where your foot slides in and then tie one to the frame that's attached to that band. That's how Jan used to do it with those shoes.
@@robertnastasi8643 yeah 👍 please permit me to introduce myself I’m sandy from Los Angeles Carlifornia ,please may I know where you from ? Sorry if I’m bothering you dear
Glad I'm not the only one still making amateur mistakes...but wish I was doing it with your style. :D You rock and roll and crack me up, LS! God bless your pro journey, Megan
Well deserved win man. Regardless of what happened to others, you answered it at the end of the video. Looking forward to see you at the 2 IMWC next year!!
I used to agree. But after all these years he probably won't gain from a run form change or actually be able to sort it. I have a perfect run form and a couple of fellow parkrun runners have terrible run form. They are both faster. It's the engine that matters..
Great race recap. Unfortunate with Luis but as you were nowhere as close to the limit as you and Long in the epic battle I or anyone else cannot challenge your win. Absolutely justified. Well execured, mad respect and extremely motivating role model behaviour!
Hey that's me at @1:04 right behind haha I should've surged at end to be ahead darnit. Any case just wanted to comment on the "unfortunate circumstances" of the others. Vincent getting hit by a car is absolutely ridiculous. Ironman should be ashamed that that can happen, and continues to happen race after race look at Matt Russell in Kona. However, Geens getting a draft penatly - That is not a piece of adversity to overcome, or something to feel empathy for. He cheated and got a penalty for it case closed. I'll say because I did see what was going on in front two groups there should've been a lot more blue cards shown in fact.
Amazing video Lionel, love every single minute. Now Vince would have win without the accident...He Ran so much faster... very good game all , nice vid again nolimits!
total respect to Lionel regarding his winning.... "It' not very satisfying and a pretty hollow win"! He was totally looking to battle but the other two had unfortunate adversity
I’m honestly curious, do you think the 5m penalty gave jelle the extra gas to run the one minute faster? If Vince doesn’t get hit and no drafting penalty, it certainly would have been an amazing finish
It's interesting to see records being set by short distance guys. Maybe the tear and recovery cycle has more benefits even for long distance performances? Long distance specialists has to have the efficiency advantage
You went 5min faster than 2 years ago with a lot of time left on the table in transition and the swim (i.e. not related to fitness), this is mind blowing progress to be very proud of!!
Lionels humility and sportsmanship is deeply inspiring to listen to. He's such a great ambassador for showing how awesome sports and competition can be. Also very grateful to Talbot for making these videos and sharing them with the world!

Hello Michael how you doing dear
Sad for Vincent... but pretty sure he will come back stronger. So impressive how lionel keeps his motivation so high.
It's because he loves it so much. Dont need to rely on motivation when you have that passion 👏👏
This is getting better and better. So good. Lionel is tough and the competition is fierce. Makes for the best triathlon footage ever! The sport is getting super interesting.

Kudos on the win. Vincent's resilience was remarkable.
Lionel you are such a class act. So self deprecating and giving such high praise to your competitors. This is what makes you such a champion.
What a legend. Down to earth and just humble. Always wanting to improve. We can all agree no race is as fun if LS isn’t on the start list.
