Looks to me like Ronnie had the “moonwalk” moves when MJ was only about 2 years old. He was also sporting red socks. He had a very good voice in my opinion. RIP Ronnie Hawkins.🇨🇦🇺🇸

wow. at that moment in time all the guys were preparing themselves for what would become The Band with not a clue about what was to come. all doing their own thing in their lives, the boys still up in Canada, Levon here practicing those vocals while drumming, eventually opening with "I pulled into Nazareth..."

it's the problem of how history is presented... usually on TV. with Michael Jackson..and Jackson has told his audience he didn't invent it, but no one listens. Certainly Camel walk is the roots...Moon walk just was updated to sound 'space age'.
No, this was about two years before Richard joined the band. That's JImmy Ray "Luke" Paulman on guitar. The only future Band member in this version of the Hawks is Levon, on the drums. This is before Robbie, Richard, Rick, and Garth joined. The Hawks only included all 5 future Band members for most of 1963.

Jeff Halle Will “Pops” Jones. As much as I love Richard, Jones could play rings around Richard at that time. Richard didn’t really become a great piano player until the late 70’s, when he sobered up and put a lot of energy into his craft. Listen to bootleg tapes of his early 80’s appearances and compare that to his boogie-woogie playing in his early performances; he made significant strides as a pianist. But, at this point, both Jones and Stan Szelest (who replaced Jones in the Hawks) were far better piano players than Richard. Neither had Richard’s VOICE, however...he’s still my favorite male vocalist of all time.
