My favorite scene in the movie is when Halliday says "Thanks for playing my game." In the end, he was just an awkward nerd who wanted people to love the things he loved.
The thing about the final key; the Atari game "Adventure" 1979, it is credited as the first video game with an easter egg. The whole reason it existed was because when the game was ready to be released the CEOs of the development companies did not want to give the developers any credit for the product in fear of them asking for royalties. So Warren Robinett added his now famous "Created by" easter egg where you have to pick up a tiny gray 1x1 pixel in a room where the entire background is gray and carry it to another specific room so you can walk through a wall to see it.
Always slightly chokes me up when Art3mis shows up at the final battle and she's added the birthmark that Samantha has in the real world onto her avatar. Given how insecure she was about it, it's a nice nod to her growing self-esteem and connection with Wade, who accepted it completely. It's a fun movie and, in my probably unpopular opinion, one that actually outdoes the book it's based on. In the book (which, for the record, I absolutely enjoyed), the three challenges are mostly based around proving yourself to be as big a geek as Halliday was, whereas the film's challenges have at their core understanding Halliday's own personal regrets about his life and what he missed out on through his own mistakes and insecurities. It gives the film a much more emotional vibe than the book that I preferred. The film also gives greater prominence to the supporting characters. In the book, Wade does almost everything himself, but the movie spreads things around a bit more, with Samantha / Art3mis being the one who ends up in IOI headquarters rather than Wade. She also appears in reality much earlier than in the book, where they don't meet in real life until the very last chapter. Steven Spielberg was able to get the rights to use so many different characters mostly by exercising the power of being Steven Spielberg. It's a name that opens doors that other names run from screaming. The "Appears courtesy of" list in the credits is insane.
The Art3mis birthmark thing made me cry in the best of ways because it reminded me of my own situation. I have an issue with the muscle above my eye so it looks like one eye "is smaller than the other or like I have a lazy eye." It's really just the muscle above my one eye is lower than the other one. I hated it my entire life and wanted to get surgery to fix it, I had surgery done on it when I was younger but it didn't work because basically, the tech wasn't advanced enough yet. It wasn't until a few years ago when someone I cared about told me they thought it was their favorite thing about me because it looked cute and like I was always winking at them that I finally started to embrace it more. It does still make me self-conscious every now and then but nowhere near as much as it previously did. So seeing her embrace her birthmark that she absolutely hated instantly made me want to hug her because of how much I could relate.
I think the biggest problem with the movie is that it is too "family friendly"and simplistic compared to the book. In the book people actually die, instead of just having their avatars drop. I also much preferred the hunt itself in the book. There are a lot of hard to swallow plot changes that don't really make sense. Plus it removes the feel of it being a quest where anyone could win. In the book everyone worked alone until they were forced to team up, and it felt more like a race. In the movie it's basically just a group of friends looking for the treasure, like the Goonies.

I’m sure it’s mentioned many times below but the book’s challenges are all very different and more nerd centric than the film. They had to water down the pop culture nerdiness and amp up the more epic action. The books challenges are more personal and intimate. I like both but prefer the book because it’s enriched with more detail. Like it’s Parzival who goes to 101 jail and not Art3mis etc. if you loved the flick, you’ll very much love the book. Ready Player 2? Ehhh…not so much.
In the book, you needed to find both the key and the gate of the colors copper, crystal, jade....The first is a poem that references a dnd campaign diarama set that was built on some world and a game of joust to get the copper key. The gate was to replay the movie war games as the main character, being graded by the system on how well you match the original. The jade key was found 5 months later, wade found it a while later, he needed to play a text based adventure game and collect all the items and blow a whistle. Then the gate was blade runner. The final key and gate was castle anarak. Which IOI was in control of and had a forcefield preventing others from going there. After IOI destroying the trailer stacks, Wade then took a break to infiltrate IOI as an indentured servant in debt with a fake identity to get evidence of IOI's criminal activity like Daito's murder and Wade's own attempted murder. After escaping with the aid of Morrow, he reunites with the team of shoto, H, and artemis. They have mecha robots they got in an earlier gate, So when going to the battle they use their mechs to fight instead of iron giant it is Ultraman, still fights mecha godzilla though. Also I-Rock was an acquaintance of H who knew wade's info and gave it to IOI.
I have to admit that I watched the movie before reading the book, and after reading the book even more details about certain aspects of the movie came to light that I would never of noticed otherwise. For example, Percival's Delorian had parts from other famous 80's vehicles like the ghostbusters car, Knightrider and such. You should give a read to know what I mean too, lol.
Brought to you by Steven Spielberg starring Wade Watts in this post-apocalyptic film about people who live in a virtual reality world in which everyone is after a Golden Egg
Based on the book of the same title, directed by Steven Spielberg starring Wade Watts as a teenager living in a post apocalyptic world where everyone plays video games designed by Holloway before he died. As such he left 3 keys, the completion of which will lead to a massive cash prize. The trick is where they are hidden. Thus is the quest
OMG! I must have blinked when I first watched this movie, because I do NOT remember seeing the most BAD-ASS fantasy weapon from my ALL-TIME favorite movie from childhood... The mythical Glaive from Krull!! 31:44 🤯🤯🤯
Regarding the "This video is unavailable on this device" message, note that Seb is on vacation this week, so I don't know if he'll be able to look into that until later.
The movie doesn't go into the school planet that he spends a lot of time in in the book. Stephen Spielberg of The Shining gave Stephen Spielberg of Ready Player One permission to restage his work.
Loved this movie - quite a few differences between it and the book but it was a well adapted version of the story imo (the boom had some rather long exposition parts that were important yes, but probably wouldn't have been as entertaining on screen lol) of course it's total eye candy and nerd fan fare so of course I loved it 😅😂
I am so happy people can still like this movie. I read the book and its SO good. Only they let so many things out in the movie that i dont like it anymore. so happy for you!
I think I should point out that Artemis' birthmark is Kratos' tattoo (but only the face part, I'm fairly sure it doesn't go the distance), only reversed. Also, that 'weird dothraki' is actually the "Words of Making" from Excalibur. I'm almost shocked you didn't catch that.
I loved this movie! I loved it so much lol. I actually rewtached it a few days ago. I'm not a gamer but the concept of the Oasis just blew me away and I enjoyed every minute of this movie. Might need to rewatch to actually. Loved the subtitles on your videos btw. Nice touch. Great reaction as always. 🥰😁 Edit: as much as I like the fact that they emphasize that reality is real, Closing the Oasis on certain days just doesn't sit right with me. I mean suppose someone only gets day offs from work on Tuesdays and Thursdays. They have to never play again? Idk just my random thought.
I guess only the Older people would Know the "Spell" used is also in one of the BEST King Arthur movies Ever! Hint: Nigel Terry starred in it. It still remains one of the Better Movies.

I like both but prefer the book because it’s enriched with more detail. Like it’s Parzival who goes to 101 jail and not Art3mis etc. if you loved the flick, you’ll very much love the book. Ready Player 2? Ehhh…not so much.
Ayy ma boi got a sponsership !! So happy for u bro
Literally switched off my online class for this.
GET BACK TO SCHOOOL
I love how everyone just ignored over the ad he did.
I hope no one used that service, but great reaction.
Thanks for your videos that I really enjoy from France. For half an hour I forget the hospital and my problems. Really give me good vibes 😚. Alex
The spell for the orb comes from the early 80's Excalibur movie. Merlin's spell of making
Honest Trailers said Parzival was a mix of a Kpop boy band member and an Avatar, and I died lmaooo Now I can't unsee it.
Damn as someone who's been binging your content, that hardcore path of exile comment, kinda took me off guard.
Brought to you by Steven Spielberg starring Wade Watts in this post-apocalyptic film about people who live in a virtual reality world in which everyone is after a Golden Egg
The spell to turn on/off the orb is from Camelot. It's Merlin's Charm of Making.
6:54 No, It's The Delorean, K.I.T.T and ECTO-1 all in one.
Sorento is played by Ben Mendelsohn
Wade used the Clark Kent disguise to fool Sorrento that he got to escape the crowd from earlier in the film.
“Oo it’s F$*king Chucky!” 😂😂
OMG! I must have blinked when I first watched this movie, because I do NOT remember seeing the most BAD-ASS fantasy weapon from my ALL-TIME favorite movie from childhood... The mythical Glaive from Krull!! 31:44 🤯🤯🤯
Time for Ready Player 2.
This movie was unbeliveable in theater in 3D.
OMG I made it into one of your videos! I am the Dwight flashlighting the entity xD
Hahahahah
Regarding the "This video is unavailable on this device" message, note that Seb is on vacation this week, so I don't know if he'll be able to look into that until later.
A 'This is Amazing/Sick' counter would be funny on movies like this, and an apology counter too haha
Anyone noticed the tardis in the background in H’s place? 😎 sadly no shown in this reaction tho 😂
By the way, the spell is form the film Excalibur
In the book he lives in Oklahoma City, right next to (if not on top of, a huge furniture store.
It was in Imax… IMAX 3D and it was POSITIVELY WILD! 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
My favorite was the Iron Giant! Of course the Halo references too...
Must say you are my favourite reactor mate always look forward to your vids keep it up 👌🏼
The movie doesn't go into the school planet that he spends a lot of time in in the book.
Stephen Spielberg of The Shining gave Stephen Spielberg of Ready Player One permission to restage his work.
seeing this in the movie theater was INSANEEEE
I love this movie bc every time you watch it you catch something you missed!
“You can’t smash in the oasis, so ...”
😂😂😂
The RX-78-2 is the Grandfather of all of the Gundam's.
Your reactions are priceless Seb you always make a video entertaining
27:28 - "Kegel exercises for men"
Multiple benefits, but mostly to prevent men from being . . . uh . . . premature.
Literally just Avengers: Endgame.
But came out before
I think I should point out that Artemis' birthmark is Kratos' tattoo (but only the face part, I'm fairly sure it doesn't go the distance), only reversed.
Also, that 'weird dothraki' is actually the "Words of Making" from Excalibur. I'm almost shocked you didn't catch that.
I think it being Kratos' tattoo is a huge stretch. Nowhere is it implied that and besides. It doesn't even look like that.
Edit: as much as I like the fact that they emphasize that reality is real, Closing the Oasis on certain days just doesn't sit right with me. I mean suppose someone only gets day offs from work on Tuesdays and Thursdays. They have to never play again? Idk just my random thought.
A few may miss out but the many will benefit. Also there's vacation time.
I guess only the Older people would Know the "Spell" used is also in one of the BEST King Arthur movies Ever! Hint: Nigel Terry starred in it. It still remains one of the Better Movies.
I think you'd like the show Upload! It's on Prime Video. It has a similar idea this movie. Basically you can upload your mind when you die and live in an artificial Heaven-like place while still being able to talk to the living
Hey sebscreen wanted to say that you are my favorite reactipn channel as your always just a fun UA-camr to watch
“ you cant smash in the Oasis”
Everyone who read the books be like: 😐
