I have been using oven cleaner for years on engine parts. What I have found is that it's not very good on grease, but for the varnish covered parts inside the engine, such as crank and rods, it works great. It also works great on the inside of the blocks after the greasy part is removed. You just have to be ready to spray WD40 on everything as soon as you rinse it off as it will start to get surface rust quickly.

I used the same cleaners with about the same results. Heavy duty worked great on the transmission and I had a pressure washer, so that really cut down the cleaning time. The fume free was a bit more friendly to work with inside the heated garage over winter when I couldn't work outside.

Very cool video to watch. I sadly don't have an engine to work on due to being ADHD and procrastinator but that doesn't mean that I can dream. 🙂

Great video. Have a 350, 305 and 454 that all need some degreasing. This will help male short work of it. Did you use anything before painting? Like acetone or lacquer thinner?
