While I do agree that the albums quality is very inconsistent, I really enjoy this album. The production on most tracks (other than chocolate cotabra and 0) is very impressive for its genre, and the producers behind the tracks really know what they’re doing. In terms of ado’s voice, she isn’t damaging her voice (you can listen to vocal coach Chris Liepe explaining how what she’s doing is perfectly safe) and her vocals range from decent to incredible on this album. At the end of the day, other than the inconsistency on the record, I find it very good. Your points end up being more subjective, and while I respect your opinion, your seeming lack of understanding of both VOCALOID production (where most of the producers on the album originate) and Ado’s singing style is what makes this review so negative. Personally, I would give it a 8-9/10.
The reason people love Ado is because everyone can find something for themselves in her discography. Her voice is not being "abused", if you look at covers even from before her debut (literally high school) she has always been a bit aggresive with her voice. Hell, that's literally the reason she blew up in the first place (Usseewa), that growl was doing numbers. She sings for fun, when interviewed by Crunchyroll she said she was really excited that she got to sing in so many genres for the One Piece album. So going all "Erm, she shouldn't be doing this and that" is stupid because that is what she wants to do. It doesn't matter what you think fits, the point of her making music is her having fun. As long as she gets the freedom to do that then I don't see a problem with her slipping up sometimes (0's kinda bad, but it can be salvaged), let her goof around.

@@curealmy ADO is not a normal Singer shes an Utaite which roughly means cover Singer in Japan.And that reflects in her original songs as well, She gets her Music and Lyrics from other well known Artists and the only thing she does is Sing and maybe change it up a bit so it fits her. but her Singing is objectively World class she has her Vocals pretty much fully under controll and sometimes she brings out Vocals that made me think : how can a human make a sound like that , make it sound good and then in the next moment completely switch it up without it sounding bad. and for me personaly the best thing about her is that she has no fixed genre. she pretty much gets to do what she wants and she has fun experimenting with different things. Chris Liepe has good videos that highlight how much ADO can do with her voice.

Listen, I get not enjoying Ado's music, but it also seems like you simply fail to understand what she tries to do, as well as simply just don't enjoy the genre she enjoys making. Saying that her voice is "being abused" when she's stated that she's not instructed at all in how to sing a song, already tells me a lot in how much you know about Ado. Especially considering you said this about Show, which Ado has gone on record to say that it's the only song that she's genuinely proud of, and you can tell that considering the highest and lowest note that she hits in her entire discography is on Show alone. Also, I don't really agree with the fact that Ado is known mostly for her very beautiful songs / voice. Her voice is amazing yes, and she's very talented, but she's known the most from her fanbase as a very rebellious singer, who just does what she wants to do, and spreads her voice across a bunch of different genres. I get that this is an opinion, but it just seems like you shouldn't even really be listening to Ado if you don't like what she enjoys doing, because you seem to REALLY rather Ado go on a much more of a un-unique journey and sing much more basic tracks, which isn't what she does or what her actual fanbase enjoys. Like the mirror take was genuinely crazy to me, because yes it's a good song, but to me and I feel like most people who genuinely enjoy Ado, it's a song BECAUSE she changes it up and BECAUSE she does that high-pitched note near the end of the second chorus. She isn't being forced into any of these songs, if she was she would release way more music than she already is doing. And I don't mean any offense by this, but you've pointed out stuff that she does that the majority of Ado fans REALLY ENJOY. I feel like you don't really understand the context behind some songs. Show is supposed to be a song Universal Studios Japan use in their halloween shows, would you expect that song to be single voiced and still-paced like Dignity? RuLe -I won't say "supposed to be"- feels like the younger version of Usseewa and delivers just that. You would expect a song that is supposed to be played at midnight to be low-paced and chill, right? That's what All Night Radio is. There are some context to some songs that if you don't know you might find yourself in utter disbelief of what you are listening to. Also both Kyougen and Zanmu are albums that are collections of Ado's original singles. Most of the songs have been published way before the albums even with their own MVs. So you can't really expect a certain mood. Lastly, yes Ado has a beautiful and smooth voice but she also has the ability to manipulate her voice into great lenghts and keep singing at those weird points where most people struggle. Taking into account that she is mostly, if not entirely, self-trained makes it pretty amazing that she still is capable of singing like that. If you read this far tho, I have a suggestion, instead of talking this bad and harsh about the songs people with insecurities try their very best to produce, try giving softer feedback or just listen to whatever you feel is suitable for you.
Yeah I love Ado, but I won't listen to most of the songs of this album, they aren't that good. I agree with you when you said her natural voice sounds incredible, Dignity, where the Wind Blows and The World's Continuation are good examples. I really like Gira Gira and Readymade. But I love when she shows her voice' power too (like in Crime and Punishment). I know Aishite sounds chaotic as hell, but personally it's one of my favorites lol Good luck dealing with Ado fans, most of us can't tolerate criticism to her haha
Why would you want Ado to become another generic clean singing vocalist? There are plenty of them already if that's what you like. To me and many other people these gritty "banshee" kind of voice is what makes her stand out. And the way she does it is really far from vocal abuse. She is doing very sophistically, most classical singers would have real trouble to sing these kinds of songs and not just loose it. Music is subjective, your liking of Dignity is just your taste and is actually exactly opposite of mine. So please be more reserved in saying that something is badly produced or just terrible. I want to hear you out on this, but as an ado fan who's also very heavy into metal stuff, hearing you say that RuLe and Show are awful actually pains me considering those are my favorite songs by her. I am personally a large fan of his work and he is amazing with instrumentals, i don't know what you found grating to hear so that'd be nice to explain because honestly i feel her and MARETU work really well together on RuLe. Ado, as far as i know, wasn't straining herself on this song at all, in my opinion it sounded really nicely done, but i mean we all have different stances so i guess i just enjoy that type of music more. I recommend watching a few vocal coach reactions to it along with vocal coach reactions to other songs like it to get a better grasp of how difficult it can be for someone to pull something like that off, especially as a young adult. I feel like it'd help you appreciate it a little more and make it easier to listen to!! I don't think tracks like this abuse her voice at all, i feel like it brings her voice out if anything. tracks like this one, Unravel live, Aishite Aishite Aishite, and crime and punishment all have insane high notes that are extremely difficult to get for any regular person and she does them extremely well. For show she does do a LOT of vocal variation in the song, changing her singing a bunch throughout it which could definitely be hard to listen to if you're not well accustomed with her louder music beforehand, and thats very much what it seems like based off your reactions to these tracks, so I'd say you should listen to them a little more and really pay attention to her vocals, i thought it was kind of weird at first too but it definitely grows on you after two or three relistens !! also, i honestly don't think ado is known for her "super smooth" voice, as in most cases, her voice is raw with emotion and not very smooth, but thats the appeal to it!! her debut song, Usseewa, is what shes probably most known for, along with Aishite Aishite Aishite and both use these kinds of really loud really emotion-filled singing thats raspy and raw for parts of the song which is why a lot of people enjoy it!! I'd say that personally RuLe, Show (specifically her live version), Aishite Aishite Aishite (specifically her live version), Unravel (specifically her live version), Tot musica from the one piece red movie, her god-ish cover, and I am a controversy are some of her best songs and i really enjoy her new album!! I can only say that it is a pity that your knowledge is too superficial and arbitrary. Ado explained in more detail her original intention of making this album in a TV program interview a few days ago (15/7?). She wanted to show more of the dynamics and statics in her songs in this album, without emphasizing consistency, but more extreme in both directions. She even said that the first track "Nukegara" was the most balanced song in her mind, and the song that could best show both aspects at the same time. From your opinion, The direction she took in producing this album was very successful, and it also showed her great say in her works. There is no such thing as she was forced to sing "she didn't want to sing" song Every song she released was carefully produced by her whole heart. In addition to the lyrics and arrangement, everything from the singing style of the song, the album name to the concert name, etc. were all controlled and decided by her. The only thing she could not decide was probably what peripheral products would be released (she once complained about why the company would release a glove puppet🤣)
ado did not produce any of the instrumentals on the album and many of the songs credit someone else with lyrics as well. similar approach to many idol groups
@@curealmy Ado does not have a fixed composer or lyricist.(It's better to say that there are a few artists who can balance originality) But her singing style is definitely her own creation and it is impossible that anyone instructed her to do so.(Which lunatic would ask someone to change four different tones in a single lyric? Except for Ado herself) You can see from the member list of her works that her songs are more of a collaborative nature (some members are much more famous and influential than her)

5:05 most of the producers ado works with are vocaloid producers which is why she is being used similarly to how a vocaloid would be used, I personally really enjoy it
Generally her covers (the songs marked with sang "歌いました") are very good, exactly because she has a more of like a freedom to sing, and not being controlled by a brand or profit, since covers are (generally) not made with the main intention of generating revenue and will be more inclined as a marketing tool/strategy, so rather than being appealing to a larger audience it's focous on being a way to target individuals and a way of finding the good and bad points of the singer. It makes me sad when people don't realize that unfortunately she is slowly being poisoned by the media industry, she still is a super powerfull singer and I will continue listening to her her music. But I will also keep a wish that in the future she can have some of the freedom she had on her new songs.
The hate Ado gets despite her obvious talent reminds me of the hate Lana del Rey got at the beginning of her career despite her obvious vocal and song-writting talent. In both cases there were some good points, specially how the instrumentals often dont matched the vocals that well, but the criticism was over-blown that you have to wonder whats the actual basis behind. My take is both Ado and Lana became super popular while singing in a more alternative style and somewhat made up critics dont like that if they didnt get the chance to hype up the artist before they get mainstream sucess.

Ok obviously you don't know much about music. It is ok to have your own opinion and dislike some songs but there is a certain objectivity to have. And chocolacadabra does have stuff going on. Not the best song but it has some interesting rhytmes. And Rule is a masterclass of vocal prowess, Ado sounds incredible in this song in my opinion. It is not her just randomly screaming if you try to really listen to it. There's so much variation and technic going slighly into head voice, then rapping while screaming and then delivering a clear high note And sorry but show is a masterpeace of song writting. Really, dislike it or not but it is in all objectivity good

Ah, I forgot, I want to add something about "Aishite..." which, you probably guessed it by now, I totally like - it's absolute madness and a perfect showcase for Ado's vocal capabilities. I'm in my fifties now and have never heard a song like this before which is not an easy achievement for any track nowadays. 🙂 For sure I can't listen to it all the time, every day, but when the mood is right I dig it a lot, especially the live version where Ado goes full-on bonkers. Regarding the banshee voice Ado does here (and in some of her ther songs) from time to time - since I've grown up to 80's Gothic music and bands like Siouxsie & the Banshees or X-Mal Deutschland I'm kinda used to banshee-esque singing (Björk made it popular for the mainstream in the 90's btw) and I can vibe with that as well.
I posted this on Discord as well but in case anyone else wanted to chime in on this, I’m posting it here too: I just watched the review and honestly aside from the fact that I like RuLe, I pretty much agree with mostly everything else. Tho I can see why Ado keeps getting wound up in these chaotic all over the place songs because at the end of the day, Usseewa and Odo were some of her biggest hits, so unfortunately even though I like stuff like Himawari, All Night Radio and Rebellion, I can see why songs like that are less common cuz they’re trying to make so many hits like the aforementioned songs and stuff like Show. I think it’s another issue of when you have so many different composers for an artist (as opposed to one dedicated composer) that it’s hard to nail down the type of music that the artist is going for. I feel like yama has run into a similar thing cuz I thought she had found her strive in her first album (the meaning of life) and her second album (Versus the night) is a little different but not jarringly different, but now since 2023 Sony’s been having her going for a more rock vibe while occasionally sprinkling in some of the type of pop she was known for. And because of that some of the last few anime songs she’s been on in 2023 don’t even feel like the producers are using her to the fullest potential (even though I used to love when she did anime songs) as for some of the songs on her third album (Awake and build). Sorry for the tangent but it just kinda felt like a similar thing. Overall tho I think it was a fair review. It’s just when it comes to criticizing these artists people love, people get really defensive. Honestly myself included like if someone shat on Kenshi Yonezu or Fujii Kaze or Vaundy or Official HIGE DANdism or SEKAI NO OWARI or sumika I probably wouldn’t be too happy, but it’s just criticism at the end of the day and everyone has their own tastes
Imo, i think its a fine album. Its not too crazy i been some songs hit hard like Rebellion and Rule but really, its just a good album same for Kyogen too, just lacks her aggressive side.
As an Ado fan, I think this video, at its core, outlines a lot of my worries with Ado, but I still find myself enjoying her music more than any other artist
She is not forced by anyone to sing the way she does. In one of her interviews, she said that she never consults with anyone about her singing style. She always goes into the studio alone and records until she is satisfied with her singing.

I have no problems with her vocal unlike you but she seriously need to stop having way too many producers on 1 albums because it worsen the album experience, making it more like a single compilation with new bonus tracks (which sadly becomes a norm nowadays with popular mainstream artists) and stick to few producers so she could deliver some kind of album that has themes or concepts. To be fair, when they wrote songs for Ado, they werent thinking of compiling them into an album. Rule, along with the few new songs like 0 and Nukegara are really bad. I wouldnt listen to them. But songs like Chocolate Cadabra, Value and Mirror are pretty decent in my opinion and don't deserve the thrashing. Show is also another favorite that showcase her true ability which is to be versatile. I do agree that if they made songs like Unravel or Crime and Punishment for her, she will sound awesome. But you cannot expect her to keep doing the same thing can you?
I agree and disagree with you, (But I 100% respect your opinion) Ado's natural voice is truly amazing (like in DIGNITY), And tbh I prefer it over her other vocal varieties, but Ado works with different producers, genres, and vocal variety (like growls, falsetto, fry screams etc.), and it makes each single/track special on its own, and it reaches a very big audience of people who are interested in a lot of genres, so for those who like metal rock, will probably listen to RuLe. It really doesn't feel like a "real" album but a compilation of singles which is a bummer. That said I like most of the tracks and always adore Ado's stylistic and vocal variety. Two of my favorite songs of 2024 are from her tbh ("Value" being the one on the album, the other one is one of her recent covers, "とても素敵な六月でした" that I especially love). But, yeah, it's kinda hit or miss with her in terms of music style but since I like a lot of weird stuff I'm fine with that. ;-) For me "Show" and "RuLe" are cool btw, I do enjoy them a lot. "Chocolat Cadabra" is the low point on the album, I agree with that - totally unnessecary track. The album will nevertheless probably end up in my top 5 of this year, sorry. 🙂

But also Rule, both in sound and lyrics, is closely associated with her first hit Useewa, she likes to sing what she sings and her voice fits the most intense songs

Personally, I would give it a 8-9/10.
The reason people love Ado is because everyone can find something for themselves in her discography.
Her voice is not being "abused", if you look at covers even from before her debut (literally high school) she has always been a bit aggresive with her voice. Hell, that's literally the reason she blew up in the first place (Usseewa), that growl was doing numbers.
She sings for fun, when interviewed by Crunchyroll she said she was really excited that she got to sing in so many genres for the One Piece album.
So going all "Erm, she shouldn't be doing this and that" is stupid because that is what she wants to do. It doesn't matter what you think fits, the point of her making music is her having fun. As long as she gets the freedom to do that then I don't see a problem with her slipping up sometimes (0's kinda bad, but it can be salvaged), let her goof around.

@@curealmy ADO is not a normal Singer shes an Utaite which roughly means cover Singer in Japan.And that reflects in her original songs as well, She gets her Music and Lyrics from other well known Artists and the only thing she does is Sing and maybe change it up a bit so it fits her. but her Singing is objectively World class she has her Vocals pretty much fully under controll and sometimes she brings out Vocals that made me think : how can a human make a sound like that , make it sound good and then in the next moment completely switch it up without it sounding bad. and for me personaly the best thing about her is that she has no fixed genre. she pretty much gets to do what she wants and she has fun experimenting with different things. Chris Liepe has good videos that highlight how much ADO can do with her voice.

Listen, I get not enjoying Ado's music, but it also seems like you simply fail to understand what she tries to do, as well as simply just don't enjoy the genre she enjoys making. Saying that her voice is "being abused" when she's stated that she's not instructed at all in how to sing a song, already tells me a lot in how much you know about Ado. Especially considering you said this about Show, which Ado has gone on record to say that it's the only song that she's genuinely proud of, and you can tell that considering the highest and lowest note that she hits in her entire discography is on Show alone. Also, I don't really agree with the fact that Ado is known mostly for her very beautiful songs / voice. Her voice is amazing yes, and she's very talented, but she's known the most from her fanbase as a very rebellious singer, who just does what she wants to do, and spreads her voice across a bunch of different genres.
I get that this is an opinion, but it just seems like you shouldn't even really be listening to Ado if you don't like what she enjoys doing, because you seem to REALLY rather Ado go on a much more of a un-unique journey and sing much more basic tracks, which isn't what she does or what her actual fanbase enjoys. Like the mirror take was genuinely crazy to me, because yes it's a good song, but to me and I feel like most people who genuinely enjoy Ado, it's a song BECAUSE she changes it up and BECAUSE she does that high-pitched note near the end of the second chorus.
It also seems like you think that ISN'T what she enjoys doing, which is just incorrect. She isn't being forced into any of these songs, if she was she would release way more music than she already is doing. And I don't mean any offense by this, but you've pointed out stuff that she does that the majority of Ado fans REALLY ENJOY. Which is why I'm confused on why you're really surprised about the insane amount of dislikes on this video. Like genuinely, I don't mean any offense by this, but this whole video felt like the DEFINITION of a contrarian, maybe outside of the fact that she shouldn't be releasing a bunch of singles and then bunch them all together in one album. Like I get criticism, but this feels like you completely misunderstands Ado as an artist, and why people enjoy her music.
I feel like I'm repeating myself a few times in this comment, so I'm sorry, and you seem like a chill person, but I really don't understand some of these takes if you've been able to follow Ado for even a little bit of time, because the majority of what you're critiquing is her whole identity as an artist, which obviously isn't going to change, so I'm not even sure why you still listen to her.
I feel like you don't really understand the context behind some songs. Show is supposed to be a song Universal Studios Japan use in their halloween shows, would you expect that song to be single voiced and still-paced like Dignity? RuLe -I won't say "supposed to be"- feels like the younger version of Usseewa and delivers just that. You would expect a song that is supposed to be played at midnight to be low-paced and chill, right? That's what All Night Radio is. There are some context to some songs that if you don't know you might find yourself in utter disbelief of what you are listening to. Also both Kyougen and Zanmu are albums that are collections of Ado's original singles. Most of the songs have been published way before the albums even with their own MVs. So you can't really expect a certain mood. Lastly, yes Ado has a beautiful and smooth voice but she also has the ability to manipulate her voice into great lenghts and keep singing at those weird points where most people struggle. Taking into account that she is mostly, if not entirely, self-trained makes it pretty amazing that she still is capable of singing like that. If you read this far tho, I have a suggestion, instead of talking this bad and harsh about the songs people with insecurities try their very best to produce, try giving softer feedback or just listen to whatever you feel is suitable for you.
Yeah I love Ado, but I won't listen to most of the songs of this album, they aren't that good. I agree with you when you said her natural voice sounds incredible, Dignity, where the Wind Blows and The World's Continuation are good examples. I really like Gira Gira and Readymade. But I love when she shows her voice' power too (like in Crime and Punishment).

Why would you want Ado to become another generic clean singing vocalist? There are plenty of them already if that's what you like. To me and many other people these gritty "banshee" kind of voice is what makes her stand out. And the way she does it is really far from vocal abuse. She is doing very sophistically, most classical singers would have real trouble to sing these kinds of songs and not just loose it.
Music is subjective, your liking of Dignity is just your taste and is actually exactly opposite of mine. So please be more reserved in saying that something is badly produced or just terrible. I kind of feel you are missing the whole point that makes her so successful.

I want to hear you out on this, but as an ado fan who's also very heavy into metal stuff, hearing you say that RuLe and Show are awful actually pains me considering those are my favorite songs by her.
I def get if its not your typa music, but this whole video just feels like you listened to her music, found the most loved ones that a lot of people enjoy because of her amazing vocal skills and range, then said they suck ass to get engagement.

I think a lot of her music is more steered toward louder music genres and fast singing with over the top vocals which is the reason a lot of people enjoy her music, its unique and extremely well made in most if not all cases.

again, going back to RuLe. RuLes instrumental was made by the mainly-vocaloid and rock artist, MARETU who also made songs like Magical Doctor and Mind Brand, he's fairly loved and extremely well known as one of the best artists in vocaloid alongside kikuo and others (probably just my opinion considering im incredibly biased to rock music..), excluding the exact vocaloid brands like hatsune mikus official page and such. I am personally a large fan of his work and he is amazing with instrumentals, i don't know what you found grating to hear so that'd be nice to explain because honestly i feel her and MARETU work really well together on RuLe. Ado, as far as i know, wasn't straining herself on this song at all, in my opinion it sounded really nicely done, but i mean we all have different stances so i guess i just enjoy that type of music more. I recommend watching a few vocal coach reactions to it along with vocal coach reactions to other songs like it to get a better grasp of how difficult it can be for someone to pull something like that off, especially as a young adult. I feel like it'd help you appreciate it a little more and make it easier to listen to!! I don't think tracks like this abuse her voice at all, i feel like it brings her voice out if anything. tracks like this one, Unravel live, Aishite Aishite Aishite, and crime and punishment all have insane high notes that are extremely difficult to get for any regular person and she does them extremely well.
For show she does do a LOT of vocal variation in the song, changing her singing a bunch throughout it which could definitely be hard to listen to if you're not well accustomed with her louder music beforehand, and thats very much what it seems like based off your reactions to these tracks, so I'd say you should listen to them a little more and really pay attention to her vocals, i thought it was kind of weird at first too but it definitely grows on you after two or three relistens !!
also, i honestly don't think ado is known for her "super smooth" voice, as in most cases, her voice is raw with emotion and not very smooth, but thats the appeal to it!! her debut song, Usseewa, is what shes probably most known for, along with Aishite Aishite Aishite and both use these kinds of really loud really emotion-filled singing thats raspy and raw for parts of the song which is why a lot of people enjoy it!!
I'd say that personally RuLe, Show (specifically her live version), Aishite Aishite Aishite (specifically her live version), Unravel (specifically her live version), Tot musica from the one piece red movie, her god-ish cover, and I am a controversy are some of her best songs and i really enjoy her new album!!

I can only say that it is a pity that your knowledge is too superficial and arbitrary. Ado explained in more detail her original intention of making this album in a TV program interview a few days ago (15/7?).
She wanted to show more of the dynamics and statics in her songs in this album, without emphasizing consistency, but more extreme in both directions.
She even said that the first track "Nukegara" was the most balanced song in her mind, and the song that could best show both aspects at the same time.
From your opinion, The direction she took in producing this album was very successful, and it also showed her great say in her works.

Every song she released was carefully produced by her whole heart. In addition to the lyrics and arrangement, everything from the singing style of the song, the album name to the concert name, etc. were all controlled and decided by her.
The only thing she could not decide was probably what peripheral products would be released (she once complained about why the company would release a glove puppet🤣)
ado did not produce any of the instrumentals on the album and many of the songs credit someone else with lyrics as well. similar approach to many idol groups

Generally her covers (the songs marked with sang "歌いました") are very good, exactly because she has a more of like a freedom to sing, and not being controlled by a brand or profit, since covers are (generally) not made with the main intention of generating revenue and will be more inclined as a marketing tool/strategy, so rather than being appealing to a larger audience it's focous on being a way to target individuals and a way of finding the good and bad points of the singer. It makes me sad when people don't realize that unfortunately she is slowly being poisoned by the media industry, she still is a super powerfull singer and I will continue listening to her her music. But I will also keep a wish that in the future she can have some of the freedom she had on her new songs.

The hate Ado gets despite her obvious talent reminds me of the hate Lana del Rey got at the beginning of her career despite her obvious vocal and song-writting talent. In both cases there were some good points, specially how the instrumentals often dont matched the vocals that well, but the criticism was over-blown that you have to wonder whats the actual basis behind. My take is both Ado and Lana became super popular while singing in a more alternative style and somewhat made up critics dont like that if they didnt get the chance to hype up the artist before they get mainstream sucess.

Ok obviously you don't know much about music. It is ok to have your own opinion and dislike some songs but there is a certain objectivity to have.
And chocolacadabra does have stuff going on. Not the best song but it has some interesting rhytmes.
And Rule is a masterclass of vocal prowess, Ado sounds incredible in this song in my opinion. It is not her just randomly screaming if you try to really listen to it. There's so much variation and technic going slighly into head voice, then rapping while screaming and then delivering a clear high note

Ah, I forgot, I want to add something about "Aishite..." which, you probably guessed it by now, I totally like - it's absolute madness and a perfect showcase for Ado's vocal capabilities. I'm in my fifties now and have never heard a song like this before which is not an easy achievement for any track nowadays. 🙂 For sure I can't listen to it all the time, every day, but when the mood is right I dig it a lot, especially the live version where Ado goes full-on bonkers. Regarding the banshee voice Ado does here (and in some of her ther songs) from time to time - since I've grown up to 80's Gothic music and bands like Siouxsie & the Banshees or X-Mal Deutschland I'm kinda used to banshee-esque singing (Björk made it popular for the mainstream in the 90's btw) and I can vibe with that as well.

I just watched the review and honestly aside from the fact that I like RuLe, I pretty much agree with mostly everything else. Tho I can see why Ado keeps getting wound up in these chaotic all over the place songs because at the end of the day, Usseewa and Odo were some of her biggest hits, so unfortunately even though I like stuff like Himawari, All Night Radio and Rebellion, I can see why songs like that are less common cuz they’re trying to make so many hits like the aforementioned songs and stuff like Show. I think it’s another issue of when you have so many different composers for an artist (as opposed to one dedicated composer) that it’s hard to nail down the type of music that the artist is going for. I feel like yama has run into a similar thing cuz I thought she had found her strive in her first album (the meaning of life) and her second album (Versus the night) is a little different but not jarringly different, but now since 2023 Sony’s been having her going for a more rock vibe while occasionally sprinkling in some of the type of pop she was known for. And because of that some of the last few anime songs she’s been on in 2023 don’t even feel like the producers are using her to the fullest potential (even though I used to love when she did anime songs) as for some of the songs on her third album (Awake and build). Sorry for the tangent but it just kinda felt like a similar thing. Overall tho I think it was a fair review. It’s just when it comes to criticizing these artists people love, people get really defensive. Honestly myself included like if someone shat on Kenshi Yonezu or Fujii Kaze or Vaundy or Official HIGE DANdism or SEKAI NO OWARI or sumika I probably wouldn’t be too happy, but it’s just criticism at the end of the day and everyone has their own tastes

As an Ado fan, I think this video, at its core, outlines a lot of my worries with Ado, but I still find myself enjoying her music more than any other artist
She is not forced by anyone to sing the way she does.
In one of her interviews, she said that she never consults with anyone about her singing style.

To be fair, when they wrote songs for Ado, they werent thinking of compiling them into an album. Rule, along with the few new songs like 0 and Nukegara are really bad. I wouldnt listen to them. But songs like Chocolate Cadabra, Value and Mirror are pretty decent in my opinion and don't deserve the thrashing. Show is also another favorite that showcase her true ability which is to be versatile.
I do agree that if they made songs like Unravel or Crime and Punishment for her, she will sound awesome. But you cannot expect her to keep doing the same thing can you?

It really doesn't feel like a "real" album but a compilation of singles which is a bummer. That said I like most of the tracks and always adore Ado's stylistic and vocal variety. Two of my favorite songs of 2024 are from her tbh ("Value" being the one on the album, the other one is one of her recent covers, "とても素敵な六月でした" that I especially love). But, yeah, it's kinda hit or miss with her in terms of music style but since I like a lot of weird stuff I'm fine with that. ;-) For me "Show" and "RuLe" are cool btw, I do enjoy them a lot. "Chocolat Cadabra" is the low point on the album, I agree with that - totally unnessecary track. The album will nevertheless probably end up in my top 5 of this year, sorry. 🙂
I totally agree, it seems that they just shoved her most impressive and well received singles into a list with no comprehension of the unison of an album which is such a shame given the beautiful cover art and (imo) her best album kyougen

Shame this album ended up being such a grab bag. Especially too since I really liked the direction they took with Value earlier this year.
I haven't listened to this album yet, though I found her first album ok, I really loved the one piece collab album. And to be fair, I also haven't touched the pop side of japanese music all too much. kinda curious if you have any recommendations

@@curealmy personally, I'm open for anything really. I'm mostly listen to black metal, hyperpop, and indie. I recently got into some underground music in Japan like number girl and eastern youth. The closest pop artists from Japan I really enjoyed are Kenshi yonezu and Eve

Quite brave of you to critique Ado-related stuff. Her fans are quite obsessive, for better or worse. Rule is so grating to the ears, and it was clearly not made for Ado to sing.
is not really brave if it not exactly a critique, rule has been praised by vocal teachers already and she includes a lot of really good techniques in the song.
Like you can critizice but at least have a real argument.
How was Rule not made for her to sing? Apart from the fact that she obviously has a hand in her work, so obviously no one forces her to do so.
But also Rule, both in sound and lyrics, is closely associated with her first hit Useewa, she likes to sing what she sings and her voice fits the most intense songs
