I was on holiday from the US four years ago and I visited the museum with my wife. She’s not a car enthusiast like I am, but she loved the museum anyway for all the unique period items, knickknacks, and dioramas.
I only just got round to watching the video. I'd love to visit that museum one day. Really enjoyed the video, as I do with all your videos Steph. You're a natural presenter who really should be on TV.
First visited when it was at Holker Hall. Been several times since the move. once with the DLOC in my 20/70. The onsite catering is top notch too, which can get extra family members over the threshold!
I've visited the museum in 2018, they had an exhibition with the Bluebird boat in an adjacent building. The museum was one of the highlights of my visit to the UK 😊
The Bluebird boat is NOT the real one. It was made for a TV show. The original, at least pieces were in Conistom Museum in 17 and I belive the restored version was going back there. I think the car though is the original Malcom Campbell one
Great video Steph, been to the Lakeland Motor Museum twice now, one for a family holiday and one for the Lloyd Vehicle and Planet Auto Social, a real little gem hidden in the lake District and nice to see Chris talking about the history of the museum never realised it's been kB the current site for 12 years!
Great whistle stop tour that. I went to the old museum but that looks to be a big improvement, much more space. I love those old games and it was nice to see how they work too. Thanks for sharing this trip in this video Steph. 👍👍
What a great video Steph - obviously ! Looks like a wonderful place to visit, I'll have to put it on my bucket list. Thanks for sharing your visit with us - take special care 🙂 X X
BTW Steph - love this format - you are a natural presenter of this sort of stuff - its a crowded market but you deserve an even bigger audience that you already have
Very nice highlight of UK travel for the motorhead! I shall add to my list!!!! Incidentally, Steph, I see you have a resemblence to Geri Halliwell. If you read this, I hope you take that as a compliment.....
The Corsa B looks modern but at over 25 years old I think it's earned it's place in a museum. And that Volvo estate, my god! I bet that's one of the best original examples left.
Great video very well filmed, I went to The Lakeland Museum in Cumbria a few years ago with regards to seeing the Donald Campbell exhibition great Museum to go to, but if you are in to Commercial Vehicles and Buses I would highly recommend you go and pay a visit to the British Commercial Vehicle Museum Leyland in Lancashire a very well enjoyed Museum which is well worth a visit.
The Corsa B caught my eye. I used to drive my mum's GLS 5 door 1.5td, it was an M reg with the same RG, Newcastle-upon-Tyne suffix. Faster than you'd think...
Lakeland is a great way to spend a day, I've not been for a few years, and it looks like they have been updating many of the exhibits. Lakeland hold Classic Drive and Ride In days throughout the year where owners gather and show their vehicles in the car park. Also various clubs hold events at the museum. Check out the museum web site for the dates and times.
Great video Steph. Those period shopfronts are something else . The attention to detail is great as are Those old games. I want one of those so badly. Can’t imagine there would be many left.
Visited there in 2017 and like your weather, it was the same! ironic as it was glorous the day before at Windermere! On a sidenote, did you note the amusing reg plate on the Sierra 😁
Looks like my kind of museum, does make me feel old though. I remembered watching a (new) Amphicar drive into the River Thames C 1964, later I found out it belonged to a teacher at my school.
Used to work with a chap who had 4 Amphicars in various stages of restoration & running. He used to cruise the Severn around Worcester, and was known to cut the fishing lines of anglers who didn't move their gear quickly enough!
Great video Steph. I have never been there, but it's now on my list to do. If you are ever in the west country you should visit the Haynes motor museum. In sparkford Somerset. It's really good.
In the 70's my thoughts were Action Man and Airfix kits plus my chopper bike. As we went to the 80's my main priority was my 70's Hillman Avenger. Its 2022 and I am 61 - my lad bought me an airfix kit for my birthday - I am regressing lol
Was there 2 weeks back and yes allow several hours!! Sadly my favourite exhibit has gone, they had a Opel Manta GTE Exclusive but times and exhibits change, also a big fan of the Ford Pop van in there and the period garages
Love the vid Steph. Great stuff seeing some, if not all, of that classic automobilia. Gotta be inspired by the original Top Gear TV series if from anywhere via YT. Yer a true friend if ever I knew one of that kind, someone who loves old cars as much as I do. I've got coverage of the old Motor Shows on DVD, and many books with literally thousands of classic car photos.
I was there on the 31st August this year on a 200 mile day trip out. My advice would be to ensure your phone is fully charged with plenty of memory so that you can take plenty of photos because you're guaranteed to miss things if you don't, the place is stowed to the rafters. In my opinion, whether or not it's popular I don't care, I think they're doing themselves on the entry cost because it's worth more than the £10 they charge for you to spend the day there.
Really enjoyed that! 0:41 hope the guy didn't think you were pointing at him as a 1920s classic🙂 5:29 is that a Kodak Instamatic in the back of the scooter?
Yes, when I was there a few years ago a couple of dogs had a scrap in the cafe. Big pandemonium and they had to be separated and it did make our coffee break rather noisy.
The Campbell (Bluebird) collection looks amazing and well worth the admission price alone! I'm something of a Bluebird enthusiast! How far from London is this museum?
That owner of blue car in for a service would be unhappy,, it was there late May 17 and it hasnt moved! You missed showing the collection of Vincent Motorcycles. Excellent museum,, I actually rate it above Bailue but behind the Haynes Museum
Scooter car I delivered an evening news paper to people in.Headingley who had one of these.i was 12yrs and did a run.for mr Cotton my paper went up to The Hollies
I really enjoyed your tour of the museum.
I have been to this museum and it's fantastic.
As a softie southerner I haven't ventured far north of Stoke-on-Trent but I'd definately pay a visit if I ever get to t`North!
LOVE the Amphicar!
I was on holiday from the US four years ago and I visited the museum with my wife. She’s not a car enthusiast like I am, but she loved the museum anyway for all the unique period items, knickknacks, and dioramas.
My kind of Museum. Thanks for taking us along Steph.
I have this on my list of places to visit Steph, good upload.
The Volvo estate is my absolute favourite car in the museum. Stunning condition. Love it ❤Thanks Steph.
I have been to the Lakes a few times but never to the museum - definitely will on my next visit - what a great variety of exhibits.
Another wonderful video! Thanks, Steph!
Going to have to pay a visit , it looks great
Glad to see you back Steph .

I notice the Austin A40 Farina...my mum owned one as her first car in 1962.
Great whistle stop tour that. I went to the old museum but that looks to be a big improvement, much more space. I love those old games and it was nice to see how they work too. Thanks for sharing this trip in this video Steph. 👍👍

Henry Ford reduced the price every year of production of the model T, he also doubled the workers wages that's why he sold 16 million of them
