“Expecting to Fly”, a lyric inspired by the poignant Disney animated film, “Dumbo”, in which an abused, orphaned young elephant with abnormally large ears is fooled into thinking that he can fly only if he holds a feather in his trunk, is perhaps Neil's best and certainly most haunting song, recorded at the beginning of his solo "production" period. While it appears on "Again", the too-soon departed Buffalo Springfield's second, classic, and greatest album, there is no evidence whatsoever of a band playing this song, less the uniquely distinctive Springfield. Not even the vocal harmony, normally a strong characteristic of the Springfield, has any other member of that band participating in it. It features Neil playing and singing by and with himself, which, as it tuned out, pretty much defines what he really wanted to do all along. With orchestrator/arranger supreme, Jack Nitzsche, Neil sculped transcendently beautiful compositions entirely separate from the band, this one above the rest. This period of lushly conceived and executed yet exquisitely tasteful composition was, however, short-lived, and “ended with a cry” after his first, eponymous solo album (January 1969) which appears to contain songs that he wrote while in the Springfield, some of which might have been on that band’s fourth album if such had been made. It has been said (by me, at least), that “Neil Young” and “Crosby, Stills, and Nash” were, taken together, Buffalo Springfield’s unmade phantom fourth album. Neil’s second and more commercially successful solo recording "Everybody Knows This is Nowhere" (May 1969), which firmly established him as the new-reigning singer/songwriter, was the genesis of what became his most identifiable "sound", and was a 180-degree course correction from what he had been so recently doing. Instrumentally, "Everybody Knows…” consists of unadorned drums and bass strongly supporting two dueling guitars in a style much reminiscent of that which he and Steven Stills had created and performed with great effect in the Springfield. Completely unlike the complexly crafted recordings he made with Jack Nitzsche only months before, Neil now went entirely in the other direction, making live-sounding, raw, and basic recordings that incorporated few if any overdubs, no orchestration, lots of vocal harmonies, and long, insane, glorious guitar solos. Always a prime exponent of the finest songwriting, Neil is, to me, the epitome of the folk-rock singer-songwriter. Simply put, this song just kills on every level. It can make you cry even when you’re not sad, and amongst other things, that is what great music can do and often does.

Yes , I did the Ai using a software and it worked good in some scenes and some others not but over all it came out pretty good. As for the audio , I made it and stripped the vocals into a instrumental version with AI and that came out great. It's such a great song and I'm glad you enjoyed it.
There is no extended version , I made that with stems and AI and it came out great as for the AI lip synch they made improvements drasticly in the software since I made this video a while back so if I remade it , it would look fantastic. I know , I did a few tests on a recent video I made which is on my channel from the Lovin Spoonful. It takes a long time to make but it's worth it.
I love this song - I wish that you could have just had the song with the clouds, maybe some scenery, etc - it was very obvious that your footage of Neil on stage he was not actually singing that song, and it just really looked stupid.
I was experimenting with new software , to do the lip synch with his mouth , some shots it really works while other's don;t , they are still imroving the software where it's getting better but untill then I had to try it out. I normally would have done the scenes with clouds and pics which would work well , also with the AI technology , I was able to make a instrumenat long version of it so that worked excellent for this video.
@@rylinmariel6431 There are two new apps Im using now , that really are excellent in synching lips with voice but thats only for pics. As for moving video , there have been no improvements yet that are accessable except for the Google Collab I use that I made this video with. I've seen a Facebook video ad of Elon Musk talking about investing to attract investors but it was for a scam ad and these guys need to be in jail but whatever software they were using it was really good.
I wish Neil Young would have more songs with this producer , it brought out a side of Young that was very interesting , using full instrumental strings etc.
It was short lived experience , his band was breaking and up and this song was the release of that tension of that experience. Yeah , he could have done many songs like this but , he chose not too. Trust me , even the successful musicans including the Beatles hit a peak point in creativity. It's all spirtual evlouton in reaching perfection and most of these successful musicians have'nt reached it yet in their lives.
I did not know that Neil Young was with Buffalo Springfield, I know he played with Crosby Still, Young and Nash and of course his Solo career, I like a lot of Neil Young hits, especially the song Like a Hurricane, that guitar solos is very tasty, I love his songwriting and Guitar playing. Thanks for sharing Dan.
Yeah the reason he was in CSY is because Stills & Young started Buffalo Springfield and they had that huge hit of "For What Is Worth". Neil Young of course on his solo carrer was great too. The AI software was perfect of the this song "Expecting To Fly" which I wanted to to try it out on. It came out pretty good. Thanks for watching

Not thats not me , that's Neil. I look exactly like Neil Young though which is a coesidence. As for resigning from Trump videos , you have no choice it's Gods will that Trump gets reinstated and Biden and his people go to jail or the otjer option is letting this country goes commuinist and corrupt and in the future you won;t even enjoy any music or youtube videos because they will make you you a slave.
@@danielbanic3738 More's the pity (about that less than complimentary Neil Young depiction, Dan). I'd had an unearthly vision of you making it big (SRO) on the big Blue Screen. On, slave and slavery. Make me? I was made a slave from childhood, my dear entertainer. From the tender age of seven, I was "blessed" by the whimsical "guidance" of many New Zealanders as controlling and authority types, along with being "punished" by many generalized Kiwi cranks. Given a FIG leaf as a young boy (an old stage prop from the Garden of Eden I suspect). Remember the leaf? Fear Isolation Guilt. Works a treat in so-called God Zone places like this. With enslavement in mind, I must just visit more of your videos presentations then, if just for reminder AND the pleasure of the pain. You enjoy the rest of your day now, you hear?
@@mickeymcnaughton2555 Only you make yourself a slave , God made you to be free , do like moses and the isealites and free yourself. I know lots of people are rebelling in your country , you need to join them. The people that are running your country are pedophiles and they need to be thrown out.
@@danielbanic3738 Well done and well put Sir! That Mickey is dumbfounded and confused. I've studied him. He seems to have acquired a serious delusional disorder by suggesting that people within the New Zealand system (both at mid to senior level and throughout the general community) were being rewarded for quietly destroying and eliminating individuals thought to have that pedo sickness. AND that the system was trying to destroy those who attempted to spread the word of it, and labelling such people as distrustful deviants, narcs or wayward media supporters. How sick HE must be! He also appears to have formed some misguided belief that the NZ judiciary and legal practitioners had been profiting in some way, for decades, by both loudly and quietly authorizing the community imprisoning of suspected pedos where no complaints had even to be made and where insufficient evidence of the same existed. That they were also profiting from the acclaim and publicity associated with many huge/hefty prison terms for (even many minor) pedo offenses. What an idiot that Mickey must be. Where is his reality check? Somebody told me that NZ is FULL of pedo activity promoting people. Apparently they're promoting child orgies all over the place there. I know this because some of their senior lawyers suggested to me that it was possible to imagine if one thought about it long enough. Some doctors I know from there said that some children showed indeterminable tendency to sexual arousal. Also, a number of priests from there had told me that some individuals confessed to having thoughts about child intimacy. As if THAT isn't proof enough Sir, it is ALSO written in the scriptures describing just this sort of revelation and disclosure, in the lead up to Armageddon.
Remember the FIG leaf, Dan (Fear Isolation & Guilt) if you ever want to understand the basis of justice crusaders and how to fuel their minds. And while you may not always be on the right track, you'll know approximately where you are, even if temporarily miss-placed.
I never particularly cared for this song, which is odd given I'm a lifelong Buffalo Springfield fan. You did a really nice job with editing and making it more than it was. I do find Peter Tork's scene from "Head" a little disconnected. The only real link between "Head" and Buffalo Springfield is that Stephen Stills played that blazing lead guitar in Tork's contribution to the film..."Long Title: Do I Have To Do This All Over Again?". But hey...you pulled two of my favorite bands together in a spectacular Technicolor AI display. Well done, sir.
. Thanks for the compliment , I appreacite it. I'm a musician and know a lot about great music and it's history and when I make videos like this , I purposly put scenes together either for artistic effect or there is some music fact that I want to make people aware of. The reason I put the Peter Tork footage in was because he introduces the band and also he and Stills were like brothers and it was because of Stills that that Peter got the job as a monkee. Also The footage of Peter scene from Head is great intorduction to the song but also Neil Young played the acoustic guitar to "As We Go Along" in Head in the studio. The AI lip synching was pretty decent in the video because the software has'nt improved yet but I'm really proud how I pieced it together and also made a extended version of the song by making it a instrumental nd taking out the vocals. The song is defiantly not Buffalo Springfield song since it was just Neil and the producer doing the song but the song is important because Neil was real sad the band was breaking up and he showed it in the song.
The AI has improved since I did this video and works and looks much better , I was thinking of doing this video over again with the new AI but too much work and Im too busy working on new ones. Go check out the new ones on my channel and subscribe.
Expecting to fly wasn’t the song Neil is singing here. The song was a solo venture by Neil put on their last record after he’d left the band. Hack remix at end too
Yes , I know the history about the song but it was defiantly about him breaking up with the band which you did'nt know and it was only right he did the song by himself with the producer as for the hack remix , it's actually excellent and beautiful and most people love it except for a minorty like you.
You have to buy it from a video collector since it's not in high quality on youtube. The show where Buffulo Springfield performed it on was "Hollywood Palace Show - 1968). I have the clips on my computer in HD both live and stereo redub from that show , hopefuly I'll get around to uploading it on my channel when I have the time but for now I have other videos Im working on my waiting list. What did you think of my Neil Young Video ?
If you mean the video TV performance , it's "Mr Soul" from the Hollywood palace TV show , 1968. Thats why te the titel of the video is AI. AI means deepfake technology of adjusting the lips to the actor to sing what you want or talk.
I think it was more about the band breaking up because thats what was happening when he recorded this track alone with just the producer on the Buffola Springfield album
Beautiful song, but it is completely ruined by the horrible video manipulation of the singer's mouth to try and fit it to the music. It is obviously a clip of a completely different song. Leave these classics alone!
Yes , I agree with you but the mouthing of the AI software I used is still in it's infancy stage of mouthing. I did the best I could to present this beautiful song in a beautiful video which I think came out good and most viewers agree because its about the vibe of the video to enjoy it and not your ego and perfection. I will continue to make these videos untill evrything does become in perfection but untill then just don;t watch and let us viewers enjoy this beautiful video.

Ended with a cry

As I stumbled and fell to the ground
So hard to laugh as I fumbled
And reached for the love I found
Knowin' it was gone
If I never lived without you
Now you know I'd die
If I never said I loved you
Now you know I'd try
Babe, now you know I'd try
Babe, now you know I'd try

There is no extended version , I made that with stems and AI and it came out great as for the AI lip synch they made improvements drasticly in the software since I made this video a while back so if I remade it , it would look fantastic. I know , I did a few tests on a recent video I made which is on my channel from the Lovin Spoonful. It takes a long time to make but it's worth it.
so excellent that song was.
Your the teeny b. This song rivels the beatles
Hey Archie how long have you been a headbanger?
DREAMY transcendental pure love
I love this song - I wish that you could have just had the song with the clouds, maybe some scenery, etc - it was very obvious that your footage of Neil on stage he was not actually singing that song, and it just really looked stupid.
I was experimenting with new software , to do the lip synch with his mouth , some shots it really works while other's don;t , they are still imroving the software where it's getting better but untill then I had to try it out. I normally would have done the scenes with clouds and pics which would work well , also with the AI technology , I was able to make a instrumenat long version of it so that worked excellent for this video.
@@danielbanic3738 yeah, I get it - that's always the problem with new tech, how it takes a while to work the bugs out.
In the original clip the band is playing Mr. Soul.
Music from Dreamland.
Good!👍
Thanks !!!
Dan Buffalo One, maintain runway heading until reaching Heaven. Cleared takeoff.
Pretty cool how they synced up video from Mr. Soul to fit Expecting To Fly, etc! 😆✌🏼
Thanks , i did the video and synching with a program. The program has gotten better since i made this video so the mouth synching looks really good and natural. Im starting do new videos on the update and will upload to my channel.
@@danielbanic3738 ... Awesome! 👊🏼✌🏼

I might hang around for these clips even though I've resigned from "God Declares Donald Trump.... I know that it was you (from about time sequence, 5mins, 14 secs into this clip, et seq), Dan. You superimposed your morphed image from a blue screen shoot. Most effective. Keep the good work up. Please, keep the pre take-off sequence going. You look fabulously creepy here, and that's what we love about you! You'll be rockin' and rollin real soon, I've little doubt about that!
@@danielbanic3738 I like you even more after reading your above posts!! You are so right, about Trump and Biden and all of it! Cheers from America

All the snow you stepped had already melted washed in rivers shores & evaporated. Still expecting to fly
😇GVB❤
Very silly to put this video with this haunting song -definitely another tune he is jamming too
Remember the FIG leaf, Dan (Fear Isolation & Guilt) if you ever want to understand the basis of justice crusaders and how to fuel their minds.
"I'll Be Back"
The AI didn't synch the sound with the image e.g. 1:53
Very nice song. BUT it's just DECEIVING to not match song with video.
where can i find the video of mr. soul remastered in hd?
You have to buy it from a video collector since it's not in high quality on youtube. The show where Buffulo Springfield performed it on was "Hollywood Palace Show - 1968). I have the clips on my computer in HD both live and stereo redub from that show , hopefuly I'll get around to uploading it on my channel when I have the time but for now I have other videos Im working on my waiting list. What did you think of my Neil Young Video ?
What song is Neil singing in the video? It's not Expecting to Fly.
If you mean the video TV performance , it's "Mr Soul" from the Hollywood palace TV show , 1968. Thats why te the titel of the video is AI. AI means deepfake technology of adjusting the lips to the actor to sing what you want or talk.
Mr Soul
Mr Soul
I'm angry
That it is so easy what ... give mee a heart fill up the pockets
I always wonder if this was about a real girl friend back then ? She would have been young. Possibly still around ?
I think it was more about the band breaking up because thats what was happening when he recorded this track alone with just the producer on the Buffola Springfield album
They are now old men nature is cruel
Shit..,a sad rippoff.
Then don;t watch , the idiot who has no videos on his channel !!!
Forget AI!! We want real singing, real video, no AI!!!! Agree this beautiful song belongs with different video, try again, maybe??
Aw man, this was a great video until you cut off the end of the song...
but this is so fake as hell
No shit
OH STOP IT, the both of you! This infighting will never do. YOU, Mickey, stop throwing bush philosophy and reason at Daniel. And YOU, Daniel, stop provoking Mickey and antagonizing him with remarks associating Israel with freedom and pedophilia with slavery. @@danbanrock2 Thanks DB2. Daddy wasn't going to let me know where Mickey was watching from because he thinks that there might be a bit of rivalry going on between us. Anyway, being back down on Earth here tends to limit my powers of detection and examination. I leave it to Daniel Banic to take a stab in the dark with regard to Mickey's locale these days. Still, he's not been able to precisely track Mickey down either, as far as I'm aware. Sister Penny hasn't been able to eyeball him either, not since he left the Trump scene. Hi Mickey, wherever you are.
@@jesussonofgod2forU Thanks JSOG, my Lord. Mickey might have moved on to take command of Trump Asset and "Assettes" Management. I believe that he's recalled being hurled positional and verbal excrement by Kiwi jocks, big cock smart arses and Sgt Dickhead types in his younger, formative years of teenage childhood. That, along with much harassment and ridicule from many Kiwi religious and justice freak zealots and cranks.
I hope that he does well if he's taken the Trump position, Lord.

He, jesussonofgog2forU (Or "jeysog2" for short) appears to know how fortunate I was to have had the Chan Board Gang around to rescue me from the clutches of Epstein's global reptilian cult empire. They somehow knew that one faction from that cult had abducted me in an attempt to extract vital information from me regarding many secrets about global monarchies and about the Purple Fleet, of which Vice Admiral Bligh from Tahiti was a secret member. They used the duck and chicken feathers torture method on me, and as a result things may never be the same for me again. They'd have left me a tickle tortured blithering mess if I'd not been uplifted by the Chans. Now I am rescued and well.
