I get that musicians evolve like everyone else does, and bands change over time, fine. They just lost the one thing that drew me to them so bad, the energy, it's never been the same since this album, but these dudes were the best of the best to me, during this time. Had something real special.
Bands “evolving” is trash. Really can’t stand when people make it out to be a total positive. So many bands are just unlistenable now. Every little change is a band losing a piece of its original DNA and eventually you’re going to end up with a band that’s just unrecognizable from its original form. A lot of it is coming from labels trying to strike it rich with radio appeal. The fucking Metallica model. Which is to grab the attention of some people with something unique sounding and use that fanbase for momentum to springboard to a larger audience. Luckily boomer ass legacy media infrastructure has had a giant shit taken on it with the internet. The Death model is much more respectable. Death might not have the popularity of some bands but they’re by far one of the most influential bands in all metal. Chuck Schuldiner wanted to experiment with new sounds, which is fine. The difference between him and other artists is he didn’t want to shit all over his loyal Death fanbase by releasing shit that was unfaithful to the Death sound, so he made a new band and would let the music speak for itself.
I was at their concert that day! I still remember meeting Brandon backstage and him asking me if I want to go "hang out" with him sometime. I should've said yeah but I had a shitty boyfriend at that time. Love this band! hopefully I'll meet him again.
OMG! I've had the audio of this specific gig since like 10 years ago in my PC. T-T Nostalgia. (That was my first time listening to Incubus, love at first song, and they've been my favorite band since, which is special since almost nobody in Honduras knows about them.)
I remember discovering them when they opened for Korn back in like 98 or something. It was hed pe, incubus and Korn. I went for Korn and walked away a huge incubus fan. Never stopped loving them to this day 2024!
Probably my fav performance of this song 💯🔥🎸 love this style and sound I miss it so much. If Mr. Bungle had smoked meth and ended up in a science lab they would sound like this
You rarely if ever hear bands come out and say it but if you wanna stay a-floatin', you gotta put out the shit that sells and makes the label money. More often than not they're almost always on a tight leash with the record label. They could have continued the formula that made S.C.I.E.N.C.E. but they would have washed away before 2000. I think Brandon had once said that the release of Make Yourself was a turning point for him artistically and it's no coincidence that album was like night and day compared to their last two albums prior. Dirk dipped out after Morning View for "personal reasons" but i believe he wasn't on board with the direction they were taking the music.
I love old & new Incubus. Prefer older (up until Crow & a few off LG) but I don't mind the new stuff. Yes, Dirk was a better bassist & I miss his sound. Credit to Ben though because he's not exactly terrible, being an multi-instrumentalist & a damn good singer to boot.
Pretty late to your comment but I feel the same. Dirk really was the main creative motor when it came to songwriting. You can see the process during the behind the scenes stuff on morning view. He suggested many things that had to be changed which in the end turned out to be the final "products". I abandoned "new Incubus" after A crow left of the murderer because all songs for me lacked that certain speciality whilst ironically the whole band had improved their talents even further. I guess it's the same for many popular bands. Take ACDC for instance. The majority of the fans enjoy songs from the old records.
Back in the days when Incubus was great. Once you sign a contract with a music industry, you get pressured to release songs at a certain amount of time. Therefore, losing the music quality.
And later they shared it with Linkin Park and Mutemath, another type of genius. As life changes, so do they, but they're still great and they keep it real.
@Kry Kry Stott you're right man, angel dust era patton is where he trace his singing voice, incubus is great but if im looking for a faith no more themed band i prefer dog fashion disco,
Lyrics: You keep your riches and I'll sew my stitches You can't make me think like you, mundane I've got a message for all those who think that They can etch his words inside my brain Inside my brain T.V., what do I need? Tell me who to believe What's the use of autonomy when a button does it all? When a little button does it all, does it all? So, listen up, listen up closely, all Who've seen the fucking eye-ache too It's time to step away from cable train And when we finally see the subtle light This quirk in evolution will begin To let us live and recreate Create again T.V., what do I need? Tell me who to believe What's the use of autonomy when a button does it all? T.V., what did I see? Tell me who should I be Let's do our mom a favor and drop a new god off the wall Let me see past the fatuous knocks I've got to rid myself of this idiot box Let you see past the feathers and flocks And help me plant a bomb in this idiot box From the depths of the sea, to the tops of the trees To the seat of a La-Z-Boy staring at a silver screen T.V., what do I need? Tell me who to believe What's the use of autonomy when a button does it all? T.V., what did I see? Tell me who should I be! Let's do our mom a favor and drop a new god off my wall
Ahh... before they went soft rock in 2011... what happened with these guys, they used to be so freaking good, then album by album they just started going in this softer direction. BRING THIS INCUBUS BACK!
+Ken Gardiner Every single Incubus album is different. I personally happen to believe they're one of the greatest bands of our era. They've covered such an immense amount of ground in the musical landscape and they are still relevant and filling the seats. Think of it this way, their music grew as they did; this was that time of our lives we all wish we could go back to. Change is not always bad.
I guess when you are a rock band the trend is to go soft and weirder as time goes by... not if you are a metal band.... Linkin Park, i am talking to you as well
I'd say that Incubus's softer stuff is way better than Linkin Park's softer stuff. Still love both bands. But I like Incubus's new stuff, a lot, and don't really like Linkin Parks latest stuff.
Ah i see the old "This band was amazing. Why did they change" that happens with literally every other band. Makes me think people want bands to make one album then break up lol
Probably one of the best bassists I've ever listened to. Science was a genius album.
+Jake L Dirk is one of the most underrated bass player of all the times...
agreed!
DIRK LANCE.....
LMFAO
This bassist made me want to expand my horizons. Always Iiked the funky bass tones. Kinda like a bit of faith no more
S.C.I.E.N.C.E., Make Yourself and Morning View: one of the most perfect one two punch trilogy of albums I’ve ever heard
Yeah, no buddy sorry Morning View sucks. It was all down hill with Incubus once Dirk left. Science and Make Yourself I agree.
While this is by far their best album, I'm glad they reached the success they did with Make Yourself. They deserved it.
I love both S.C.I.E.N.C.E and Make Yourself 💚💯🎸
Incubus definitely peaked with SCIENCE, Make Yourself and Morning View. Everything before and after that was meh.
@@Denariusjaya crow left of the murder was still class... light grenades is where it started to get iffy, still had some great songs though.
2:06 - Chris Kilmore's fave dance move, the 3 o'clock.
LOL
🤣 I didn’t know what you meant until I went to 2:06, when I saw him do it I fucking lost it lmao the 3 o’clock goes hard
Vocals on point
0:55 Epic Killmore dance
0:58 Dirk face "oh shit, I am the best"
Hahahaha love it
That bass!
Every incubus album brings something different and I love it. S.C.I.E.N.C.E. Is freaking awesome!
Desmond Mooresecond it’s a claaaaassic!

Dirk left after Make Yourself. The bass lines where the heart and soul of the band all down hill after that,
SCIENCE one the best rock albums ever made. Fight me.
the best incubus album. science, make yourself, morning view.
This is the holy trinity of Incubus albums.
don't forget Fungus Amongus! Morning View was their last good album before they sold tf out lol
I had this DVD! Kilmore jamming in the background was always my fav part.
Hard core days... miss that style
omg 20 years and im still inloved with this song... long life to incubus.
I was at their concert that day! I still remember meeting Brandon backstage and him asking me if I want to go "hang out" with him sometime. I should've said yeah but I had a shitty boyfriend at that time. Love this band! hopefully I'll meet him again.
Music IsMyLife what year was this?
ryan s around 1998 I guess
😂😂😂😂
Opportunity missed lol
where was this concert?
The bass line is fire 🔥
How I wish to go in a Delorean to the past (1995-1999 especially) and enjoy concerts of these guys. Such a unique band.
Great album! 😭
Brandon Boyd..hot dayummmmm.
Incubus fans are THE most loyal...these guys are legends.
Live @ Metro Cabaret, Chicago
I have this DVD! when incubus attacks volume 2. and still watch
Back in the days when the genius was still young and rocking too hard!!
OMG! I've had the audio of this specific gig since like 10 years ago in my PC. T-T Nostalgia. (That was my first time listening to Incubus, love at first song, and they've been my favorite band since, which is special since almost nobody in Honduras knows about them.)
Debz Baumaus I love Incubus and I live in Honduras, I can play lots of their songs on guitar and I went to see them live in Guatemala last year.
this song is sooooo goood
I remember discovering them when they opened for Korn back in like 98 or something. It was hed pe, incubus and Korn. I went for Korn and walked away a huge incubus fan. Never stopped loving them to this day 2024!
quality is amazing!
Science was lit af..my fav all time album.
Wouldn't it be perfect to get a S.C.I.E.N.C.E 30th anniversary tour in 3 years?!
"98" Incubus was the best. Ozzfest and toured with Soulfly, Snot, and HED PE.
DAMN that bass is sexxaayy
Freaking amazing!! Classic Inc.
Back when Incubus could be a reggae band.
S.C.I.E.N.C.E. é uma obra prima ❗🔥

Favorite song, yeah. Favorite album, hands down man. Favorite band, you bet your sweet ass fuck yeah.
This DVD is the best band DVD ever..
So many Easter eggs..
In 2021 and I miss Dirk Lance aka Alex Katunich. I hope he made it out of his sick, sad, little world.
when i hear s.c.i.e.n.c.e, i do an automatic travel to 1997-98 on my mind... even if i born in 1999
Same bro same I was born in 1999 too

Their best song.
woww como suenan!!!!!!!

Probably my fav performance of this song 💯🔥🎸 love this style and sound I miss it so much. If Mr. Bungle had smoked meth and ended up in a science lab they would sound like this
When I watch this I just look for Kilmore going for it in the back lmao
Prime incubus. Everything after this album was the start of a long, slow decline. A couple good albums after this one but it was never the same.
This sounds better than the album

Ser adolescente naquela epoca e ir em shows como esse era foda dms

Good bass
Back when Incubus could share the stage with Red Hot Chili Peppers OR Korn. Haha
And later they shared it with Linkin Park and Mutemath, another type of genius. As life changes, so do they, but they're still great and they keep it real.
Kaelin Curtsinger they still can, they actually tour with Deftones sometimes.
@Kry Kry Stott cleary influenced by bungle but a bit annoying he copied every note from mike patton
@Kry Kry Stott you're right man, angel dust era patton is where he trace his singing voice, incubus is great but if im looking for a faith no more themed band i prefer dog fashion disco,
Well they still share it with deftones so there is that

@@rollingstoned413 I saw them 2 nights in a row, but then never saw them again.

when was this ?
Brandon Boyd channeling Mike Patton
Agree 💯 Brandon is Mike Patton's vocal twin
hola
The singer looks like a young Jonathan Davis.
I KNOW RIGHT?
"The singer..."? Um, Brandon Boyd. He's a god.

Does anyone else think it looks and sounds like they're on drugs during this one? lmao
I hate it when music videos have OOS sound, even if by just a fraction of a second like in this case...
Con Morning View la cagaron y se volvieron convencionales.
Este disco y fungus es genial ❤️
dirk lance is one of the best bassists ever.. honestly they got worse after he left... sigh
Brandons so wasted here!!but still sounds great:-)
