Denver's Black Metal Brewery: Craftwerk with TRVE Brewing Company

- There are many breweries in Colorado, but only one craft brewery made for and by metalheads: TRVE Brewing Company. When Nick Nunns and Zach Coleman aren't playing and listening to metal, they're hard at work making beer at their Denvery brewery. Nick and Zach decided to take a different approach in their brewing; instead of concentrating on what the consumer wants, they brew the beer that they wanna brew-and hopefully others like it, too.
While most craft breweries focus on heavy, full-bodied, high-ABV beers, TRVE aims to get full-flavor beers with a lower alcohol content, for good session beers that you can drink without getting totally wrecked.
With a new production faculty in the works, expect to see more of TRVE in the near future.

Top three favorite spots in Denver. The atmosphere is totally unique, the beer is delicious and it's in the proximity of pretty much everything.
It's funny that guy said he was Straight Edge all through high school and college. I was straight for 10+ years, and now I'm 25 and just had my first beer about 5 months ago. It was a beer from a local microbrewery, and I fell in love with beer immediately. I now work at a local distillery. Funny how things work out like that. Beer and liquer are fuckin' killer.
+Drew Beasley To b honest, it's better that way. I was 24 when I tried my first beer. The focus is on the taste of the drink. This type of appreciation comes with age.
I loved TRVE when we were in Denver last year. Really great quality brews, music was legit, and the people were really awesome.
Awesome spotlight! These guys deserve the shine, Khemmis is a great band.

People can say what they want about the beer, I haven't tasted it, but I'm so glad Khemmis is getting some playtime here, as their music should definitely be heard by more people :)

Wish we had a place like this in Albany, NY. There’s a shortage of good breweries plus a lot of punks and metal heads here, so it would definitely go over well.

Craftwerk should do a collaboration with the Swedish brewery Tempel Brygghus. They mainly focus is sour beer. They have logo inspired by Mayhem, and overall occult and monster themes on their can labels. Do a google search.
I fucking love metal and I fucking love beer. A lot. This place is sick. However, there is nothing metal about low ABV beer. A little of me died inside when I saw that.

He talks alot about how they make session beers, but their IPA and Saison are still high ABV and everything else (besides the american table beer) seem to have ABVs that match the style.

You see, that's why I feel that we're culturally centuries behind Europe: While we deny our children the joys of alcohol (while boneheadedly allowing them to drive), the French were traditionally brewing gristettes for minors ages ago. I'm glad that an American brewery finally has the guts to admit that it's brewing beer - sessionable beer, mind you - designed for minors. Kudos, Trve Brewing Company!
I agree with you on that, sir. While our breweries clearly owe a debt of gratitude to those from the old country, I can name at least half-a-dozen "Belgian style" beers brewed in my home state of New York that I prefer to any actual Belgian beer I've ever tried, and half of those are brewed within walking distance from my loft.
Mostly, I was just making a terrible pun. In this video, the brewer mentions that grisettes were originally brewed for miners. I was pretending to think that he meant "minors". It was funny in my head at the time.
+David Slone I think craftbeer changed the whole thing ^^ beers from ger, bel etc are mass maket lagers, craftbeer is better than any of that and ales in general have a more intense flavor profile which is way better for my taste than lagers. There is no "best beer" country anymore, even if i have to say that the best craft beers I drank came from germany :D

+coolman949 canned beer does not let light filter through like glass. Perfectly legitimate to drink beer in something that keeps the flavor fresher. This is especially the case with IPA's that are full of very volatile compounds

WTF you didn't mention Black Sky! They're walking distance from TRVE and they actually have live metal. Love TRVE but I wouldn't say they are "the" metal brewery. It's a ten minute walk to BS!

It never was center of attention, the genre isn't producing the same quality of content simply because the bands that produced the best work no longer do and there is very little new content worth mentioning; no genre really dies but BM isn't its former self because times have changed.

Matt Ness Theirs nothing wrong with having a metalhead community or place where people can socialize. All I'm saying is these guys talk a pretty big game about their beer. As if the concept has never been done before. Look at some of Surly's or 3 Floyd's beers for an instance

+duke8579 a lot of it is about the look and vibe it brings, it's different I suppose maybe a little off putting to some. I seriously doubt that these guys are Satan worshippers but if they were I'd have to chuckle a bit at that fact as most people who say they are only do so for shock value.

+duke8579 I don´t even see that as "satanic imagery" to be honest. And metalheads are way to kind to be satanic ^^ most of em at least. Can´t explain it perfectly I´m not a metalhead ^^ but as a Techno guy the best party would be a dark bunker or crypt, plain concrete floor and banging music. Sounds very dark but it isn´t for me ^^ the music feels happier the deeper it is and that with a dark location is an amazing contrast :D
