The main reason is because the teachings are not clear and are very confusing mainly as taught by the churches and all heads of Christianity. Christians are not allowed to challenge nor question nor ask for evidence of the main beliefs. They are only told to "believe". Ask an average Muslim or Jew about their core beliefs and all will clearly tell you. Ask a number of average Christians and you get varying concepts some which are contradictory.

Wonderful discussion! Hello, from Canada. I have just a couple of comments. Feel free to respond and correct any misunderstandings.
As a constant, it is imperative that every word/phrase/idea in any writing, we use the context the subject is written in, rather than pulling it out of context and placing our own context around it (as I have witnessed an innumerable amount of times throughout my life).
@ 37:50-38:05 ....... regardless of different English versions of the Bible using different words in Isaiah 53:10 (Life / or soul) the worst thing we can do is work backwards from English, using modern definitions to describe what is originally, one and the same.... meaning this: Since Isaiah comes from Hebrew, we use the Hebrew word.... and then go to English (not vice-versa).
This word is: NEPHESH; a breathing creature, the essence of life, life, person. The inner person is NEPHESH, while the outer person, or reputation, is SHEM.
Now, "... he shall see his seed": ZERA; sowing, seedtime, harvest, offspring, descendant(s), posterity.
Correct me if I'm wrong (this is not meant to be offensive or distasteful), the presumption that the gentleman in this video seems to portray is that the "seed" being mentioned refers to that of whom the prophecy is referring to, as opposed to within the specific scripture, "Yet it pleased the LORD (YHVH)...".
The question is this: Is the seed (offspring), YHVH's offspring as the context of this specific scripture implies, or the one being prophesied about, which this gentleman implies?
Does YHVH have seed? Jeremiah 2:21 "Yet I had planted thee a noble vine, wholly a right seed..."
As a point here, does this mean we are switching from interpreting the prophecy literally, to figuratively, or rather, interpreting literally, a spiritual thing?
Finally, "... he shall prolong his days..." ..... The question again is context.... who's days? The days of the one being prophesied of, or the subject immediately before it in the scripture..... his seed..... meaning.... he (YHVH) will prolong the days of his (YHVH's) seed (offspring).
While I do agree with the gentleman in a certain sense about the way to interpret prophecy (not constantly switching back and forth from literal to figurative, as is seen so often to fit into organizational doctrines) I do can not agree that this is hard line rule to follow. He does mention a good argument whether or not a specific prophecy was fulfilled or still to be fulfilled based on different people fitting into the specific categories mentioned....... however, this could go on for eternity.... one man could fit a prophecy, we overlook that man, and the next, and the next.... constantly saying... well someone else might 'fit the bill'..... and I guess that's why we call it belief..... it is faith.... it is all faith..... we can discuss all we want, which is great... Love the video, but in the end we all choose our faith based on what we choose to believe in.
May God bless all three gentleman speaking in this video. It is refreshing to see people who "raise their words, not their voices".

problem with richard is he adds too much "interpretation". Anytime his prophecy does not match, he says its not literal, and he is trying to "harmonize" with his biased thinking. But if it matches, he says its literal. Based on this he can match any prophecy to Jesus.

...it's this aspect of being 'doomed', requiring to be saved and the threat of eternal punishment that bothers me the most. No mortal Judge would inflict this on you, so why would God require such a punishment? If your only crime was to follow the wrong religion, part of the fault surely lies with God not making it obvious enough. (I am unable to trust any man to tell me, it being so important and there being so many claims)If I was the Judge, I would look at what is in people's hearts and act accordingly. It only makes sense if God and the Devil are working on a quota , some being doomed no matter what they do......that makes no sense to me.

    At 19:30...
"Seed" in the Bible refers to the Spiritual Seed of the Gospel which when sown into the hearts of those seeking GOD, grows and matures into Christians who will again share the Gospel with others and sow more Spiritual Seed. This is the Great Commission commanded by Jesus.
    1 Peter 1:23
"...for you have been born again not of seed which is perishable but imperishable, that is, through the living and enduring Word of God."
    1 John 3:9
"No one who is born of God practices sin, because His Seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God."
    Matthew 13:31-32
"He (Jesus) presented another parable to them, saying, "The kingdom of Heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field..."

    Richard-
1- Since Islam claims to teach the same message as previous prophets, please show where any Muslim prophet(s) before Jesus (and therefore before Muhammad) received a revelation from GOD saying that you could get into paradise through sincere belief, repentance, and good works.
2- This question has 3 parts:
#1 Please provide what you consider to be Islam's key prophecies regarding the messiah to the Jews.
#2 Why should the Jews have been convinced that Islam's Isa was, indeed, their long-awaited messiah?
#3 How were these prophecies fulfilled by the prophet Isa?
Thank you so much for taking the time to answer these questions.
On behalf of the Christians in the Wednesday Evening Bible Study Group, we eagerly await your answers.

Does it matter what path they are following(Christian/Muslim/Buddhist etc) they seem to be on parallel paths, trying to lead just and good lives, as such, can't they both be right? It would be great if more people could follow the example shown in this video, of an open friendly discussion. I find it hard to condemn either side when they both display such reason.

    • @vicachcoup
      @vicachcoup 7 років тому

Good point. There is so much commanlity between faiths. However Islam and Christianity have one extremely crucial difference.
For the christian - you supposedly cannot be save d unless you accept that Jesus was God in flesh and died for your sins and that you take him as your lord.
For the muslim - you cannot be saved if you worship any other than God and Jesus was a human and not God
Hence; from the christian point of view, muslims are doomed.
From the Islamic point of view christians may be ok if they don't worship Jesus as God and they may be doomed if they do.
The key thing for both sides is that the way you relate to God is extremely important and not just how nice you are to each other on this earth - although that is essential as well.
      Peace

    • @harrycohen2287
      @harrycohen2287 7 років тому +4

Christians are doomed. it seems G-d gave them a special dispensation : accept someone died for your sins and you have cart blanche to do as you please. G-d more or less gave Jews and Muslims the same message but in between he seems to change His mind.

i think about it like this-, at the judgement when god is judging us , we are guilty of this and that, hate , murder etc the punishment for sin(any sin) is death. God says guilty and just before we are about to be put to death for our sin, gods son, Jesus pays the price for our sin and god excepts this sacrifice on our behalf. and viola, the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ, risen son of the living god!!

    Isaiah 53
Could be about any prophet or revered person killed by the Jews or children of Israel. It seems to read like a guilt ridden confession that puts blame on all those who watched a good person attacked, tortured and killed but did nothing.
It's a poetic mishmash of seeming metaphor and possible real events and to say it prophecies Jesus is to stretch the imagination.

@djayawarman alamprabu, Having a interpretation there is nothing wrong with it. We Muslims even have many times our own individual interpretations of the Qur'an. This brother (Richard) is doing something on the same level as we Muslims do.
We Muslims say, we interpret something like this, but i could be wrong. This brother is doing the same with the Bible. He interpret something, but also acknowledges that he might be wrong.
This is always a good step towards searching for the truth/discussion, because you do not cling to your own interpretation to be the truth.
Many Christian brother sadly cling on their interpretation as the ONLY truth and there is nothing that contradicts their interpretation. This you can see with that Nigerian brother. He clings on his interpretation and refuses to read what is being told by the evidence it self.
May Allah guide them both and us as well.

Isaiah 53 makes it clear the person spoken of dies: like a lamb to the slaughter (v7) & cut off out of the land of the living (v8) & assigned a GRAVE .... and with a rich man in His death (v9) & poured out His life unto death (v12). V 10 offspring means spiritual offspring, ie, Christians. He shall prolong His life means through his offspring or through the Christians. Christians have Christ Jesus living inside them, we are his children. Christian means "little Christs". Thus he is alive in us. So his days are prolonged through us his offspring. The author in Hebrews records in chap2:9 that Jesus suffered death. He's not saying the opposite in chap 5:7. Jesus wasn't rescued from death but OUT of death. It says He was obedient to the death of the cross (Phil 2:8), and Hebrews 5:8 says he learned obedience thru what he suffered. By "out of death" I mean Jesus knew he was going to be separated from the Father which to Him was DEATH. He was praying to be delivered from this separation as it also meant he would go down to hades. The Father answered his prayer and raised him from the dead. Out of death means death could not hold him, hades could not hold him! The Father answered Jesus' prayer! He ALWAYS heard his prayers! He was raised bodily as the disciples saw him. If the disciples didn't see him raised from the dead they wouldn't have died a martyrs death. Peter describes what happened during those few days Jesus was dead 1Peter 3:18+. Peter died a martyr because he witnessed the death & resurrection of Jesus. Would any of his disciples really die for a lie?

Brother Shabir, I would like to clarify that your name means 'beautuful or honest'. It's the title of Imam Hussain as Hasan and Hussain were also called Shabbar and Shabbir. Sabir is different from Shabbir. Sabir means the patient one that originates from Sabr. Please take care. You are a wonderful person. May Allah bless you with more knowledge!

It starts off about Israel. If you keep reading it flows into speaking about a person. With the All Mighty there isn't any time. Time does not affect The Most High. To God one day is like a thousand years and vice versa. That is why God Most High can be from the ancient of days and the future as well as the present. The man with the glasses thinks that God Most High is like a man in that he can only act in the here and now.

Islam is teaching that when JESUS returns He will join Islam and the war against mankind which will be done by them:))They say that JESUS will return as a human and will be a Muslim:)) But this JESUS told Pontius Pilate that His Kingdom is NOT of this world and that He will be the KING in Heaven not on earth.
To say that the scriptures in Isaiah 53 are saying that JESUS will have human offspring is utterly ridiculous. So,what does it mean than? The word offspring applies to all who are born of the Spirit. They are the chosen ones and they also suffer persecution like Jesus before they are with Jesus. So,these faithful humans get immortality in Heaven. These are the mighty ones for they have endured to the end.

We know Isaiah 53 is all prophecies about Jesus specifically because every one of these were fulfilled in Jesus at once and the same time in Jesus. Obviously, before and after Jesus, there have been no others who fulfilled all the prophecies.
Matthew 2:23 "and he(Joseph) went and lived in a town called Nazareth. So was fulfilled what was said through the prophets, that He(Jesus) would be called a Nazarene." The Greek word used here is 'nazoraios', meaning a person from Nazareth, a rough and sinful place in the time of Jesus. This fulfills Isaiah 53:3, "He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain." As John 1:46 says, "Nathanael heard that Jesus was from Nazareth, he asked: “Can any good thing come out of Nazareth?”". That Jesus was from Nazareth was a strike against Him being the Messiah. Curiously, as the Resurrected and Ascended Jesus said in His conversation with Saul on the road to Damascus, Jesus identified himself as “Jesus of Nazareth” (Acts 22:8). Yes, Good DID come out of Nazareth.
    As for Isaiah 53:
    1) "Yet it was the Lord’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer,
    2) and though the Lord makes his life an offering for sin,
    3) he will see his offspring and prolong his days,
    4) and the will of the Lord will prosper in his hand."
    So,
    1) "Yet it was the Lord’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer" Yes, obviously.
    2) "and though the Lord makes his life an offering for sin" Yes, He was the propitiation for our sins.
    3) "he will see his offspring and prolong his days" Jesus is GOD. The offspring of GOD in Jesus Christ are us, His children.
Of course the days of Jesus are prolonged. Through His Spirit He lives inside each of us who calls Him Lord.
    4) "and the will of the Lord will prosper in his hand." Yes, Jesus accomplished all that His Father Willed Him to do.
