This song was so ahead of it's time. It should have been a bigger hit. Brenda Holloway is one of the most underrated and under promoted acts in Motown. Her voice is velvety and she really hits the high notes. So glamorous too.
JUST LOOK WHAT YOU'VE DONE... WOW.just a lovely lovely song.yes it is, but where's the rest of them like this.please somebody help us find our oldies please. JUST LOOK WHAT YOU HAVE DONE.left us this lovely music...thank you BRENDA....
This happened in 1974. My buddy Stephen lived nearby her near Pico Blvd and Fairfax bl in Los Angeles. He decided to go KNOCK on her door to say hello. This was on a Saturday night. Her mom answered and said she wasn't home. That was a night I won't forget. She is a fine singer and just fine...
What?.Where did that come from? Was everyone sleeping with Berry Gordy to promote their careers? Or do you know ANYTHING about Motown Records? Now, did you like or dislike the song?
Hi Richard. Was this cut really from 67? First time I heard it was in early 70s in a Gay dance club and thought it was a current dance hit. I LOVE this and play it often. Zulema (RIP) did a remake of it
I loved this song as a kid and never forgot it. None of my friends old enough to remember it,don't remember it. It never became the hit I thought it should❤❤
Beautiful, she was brilliant, the pride of Watts. this song brinsg back great memories.of my days in Junior High in Los Angeles. still listening July 2020
Ms Brenda Holloway, what a great singer and what a great song. This should have been a gold record but for some reason Motown did not really push it. Brenda should have been a household name but there are many other talented artists who never received the recognition nor adulation for their greatness.
I love the extended version of this marvelous, underrated recording, by Miss Brenda Holloway from the spring of 1967. I go back to our high school days, when she would "wow" all of us at the talent shows. Such a talent.
Somebody's going to have to set me straight. I think this has to be the most beautiful woman on UA-cam. I'm not even a fan of processed hair, and still she's a stone-cold knockout here. Gorgeous.
Some songs are so great that I just wish that they could be re-released and be enjoyed all over again today..I remember growing up and listening to the song as a child and I have always always loved it.💕Looking at this video one can see that Brenda Holloway had it going on!!I absolutely love her outfit her hairstyle earrings everything! So underrated!.I have a CD with all the greatest hits that I bought years ago and I’ll always cherish it. I saw her on one of those throwback shows with all the old artist from back in the day and she was still so pretty.Yes, she should be on Unsung..You go girl!! You absolutely rock!!!!!😀😀😀
Another one who left Motown too soon...after four years at the company, she felt she was not being promoted! She acknowledges that she made her move too soon! However, she didn't have problems as, say, Florence Ballard did. Brenda and her sister Patrice were songwriters. They wrote a song in 1967 with Berry Gordy: "You've Made Me So Very Happy" that was covered by Blood, Sweat and Tears to Frank Sinatra! Brenda was able to live off of royalties! A truly talented singer!
One of the 10 ten best Motown songs that never became a hit. Ms. Holloway is another great Motown singer whose voice and talent did not get the push it deserved! And she has several more like this in her repertoire that should have been great hits.
This is played all the time here in Britain. We have the Northern Soul scene which originated in the North West of England and was underground scene. Northern Soul has exploded back in the past 4 years
Many artists back in the golden age of rock & soul were not so much overlooked, but there was so much great talent in the 60's there was not enough room on the charts and radio to give all these great artists their due. We had it all, The Philly Sound, Motown, The Beatles and the British invasion, doo-wop even reaching up into the 60's along with the fading R n B sound, it was just a great time to be alive!
I remember vividly how this song really turned my head. It was such a unique sound I didn’t know quite what to make of it. Being just in my mid-teens it kinda went over my head in some respects. I suspect it was so advanced in arrangement and concept that most record fans were puzzled. A great song featuring an even greater vocalist that simply transcended the era. PWG
Omg I loved Brenda Holloway. Her music was fabulous. Thanks for this updated version. The 60s rocked, the 70’s kicked butt and I grew up with fantastic music.
Thank you for posting this song!❤ these were my days at JCF, in Los Angeles, CA..in 1969 & 70❤..music makes my heart melt cause with it brings many memories of days gone by, after we're gone...the best Soul music by far, I hope the younger folks will learn to appreciate one day.
started going to a dancehall as it was in those days, and such magical motown tunes, doris troy brenda holloway, all the lesser known motown , but oh what utter and top quality
Most exciting singer I've heard since my youth in the 60's listening in the middle of the night to a few motown tracks on Radio Luxembourg. I believe she's still around and going strong on Northern Soul. Petra Crete
I have many recollections of the 60s listening to her golden voice. Seeing her for the very first time here and WOW, so much style. Unflinching perfection on every level
The prettiest woman to grace the stage for Motown records..
other than Florence Ballard.
other than Tammi Terrell
Don't let MS ROSS hear you say that 😂😂😂😂
I was a 15 year old Chicano kid from LA, and I agree she was the hottest lady from Motown. But from LA. California girl.
When I was a kid, I wanted Brenda Holloway to wait for me and be my wife! Beautiful and talented woman!!
You weren't the only one. I think we were both standing in the same line. 😄
For me it was a matter of who said yes first....Brenda Holloway or Marilyn McCoo
When I was in public school I'm 1967 I fell in love this song
And god gave us Brenda Holloway. Thanks Lord.
This song was so ahead of it's time. It should have been a bigger hit. Brenda Holloway is one of the most underrated and under promoted acts in Motown. Her voice is velvety and she really hits the high notes. So glamorous too.
Northern Soul v Motown has always been a bone of contention but Brenda crossed the divide with 'Look what you done'. Am absolute gem?
The BEST Motown "sound" of any record. Should have been a HUGE hit.
Mann/Frau/Divers grooves DAS! Understatement pure im Lodenmantel. Einpacken, Helene, hier spielt die Musik.
Pure euphoria. God bless Brenda Holloway
Amen

We danced the Hustle, all night on this tune!❤❤❤
Beautiful lady who never recorded a bad song in my opinion...
Miss Holloway is the epitome of "chic" in this clip! She was (and still is) a beautiful lady!
So true!
This Lady was just plain great, but so underrated in Motown. In my book she's "GOLD"
true
She was smart enough to not sleep with Berry Gordy
What?.Where did that come from? Was everyone sleeping with Berry Gordy to promote their careers? Or do you know ANYTHING about Motown Records? Now, did you like or dislike the song?
@@michellekirkendall818 ??
Was my favorite song of 1967 and remains so today in 2017.

Northern soul at its best. KTF. Wigan day gone but never forgotten!
Every time she sings the "oh", and does that motion with her hands / body, I get weak !!!! Above and beyond sensational song !!!
I heard that!
LOL. That is a nice little gesture.

Sweet as Honey, Smooth as Butter, AMEN!
I just had the pleasure of meeting her last night at the kimmel. Center in Philadelphia.. she was absolutely wonderful!! Motown in Philly town ..
Brilliant song written by R Dean Taylor and Frank Wilson - the driving beat is spot on, and then you have Brenda - outstanding in every way.
100%
Ms Brenda Holloway, what a great singer and what a great song. This should have been a gold record but for some reason Motown did not really push it.

Gorgeous.
The bouffant hairdo is synonymous with the time. The days of "Taft" hairspray. Her voice is like golden honey.

Edo Monagas
This is still a very great song! Should have sold millions had it been aggressively promoted.
And she's the one who wrote 'You Make Me So Very Happy'. She's got genuine musical chops.

ULTMATE CLASSIC TUNE!
Si la jeune generation avait autant de talent que Brenda et bien d'autres de l'épopée Motown ...
Benny Benjamin really rocks the drumsticks on this. He was the greatest.
Benny thanks. Speed without computer help!
One my personal favorite singers
I'm playing this a lot lately.... really growing on me!
Very good extension. Well done. Like the driving beat of the song. Great rhythm and lyrics. Brenda does an excellent job singing it.

I'm 68 years old, how the hell have I never heard of this gem before ???

Bought this when I first heard it on NYC's WWRL back in the day & was surprised it did not become a big hit.
Omg I loved Brenda Holloway. Her music was fabulous. Thanks for this updated version. The 60s rocked, the 70’s kicked butt and I grew up with fantastic music.

A real motown song!
Another absolute GEM-Thank you for this
One of Motown's best! It should have been a #1 smash hit in '67. "Classic"
I agree with you, she is absolutely a knock out!!!
A quintessential Motown Soul tune ....my hair literally stands on end it is so powerful
One of the first songs i heard at a Disco in Miami. I remember the DJ
would mix it with Betty Wright's "If you love me like you say you love me".
Yes indeed, those two together. A DJ in DC at Pier 9 mixed them so well together some people thought it was the same song.
She is so fab fantastic the beat is so good and the song ❤
Absolutely one of Motown's best. It should have been a #1 smash along with "When I'm gone" great job Brenda!!
Found it thanks john, cant stop playing this.

R Dean Taylor was and is so underrated, should be in the hall of fame, wrote some amazing tunes.
Dem drums sound like Benny Benjamin and Pistol Allen locked in off the back beat. Incredible Track!
