Hi Folks. I wrote a couple of weeks ago and really do like your show. Very honest and candid. My comment on the "Nawth" snowbirds is this: Northeast city and suburb dwellers do have more stressors (traffic, etc.) but not an excuse for attitudes. Outside of city (mid-state, upstate) more like mid-western and very nice to have around. Same held true on the gulf coast.
We are snowbirds that rent and receive a resident ID (the owner gives up his ID during the rental period) and don’t pay anything extra although it is probably in the rent. The resident ID gives you the same privileges as any other resident. I think it is more common for snowbirds to rent 3 or 4 months in Florida and the rest of time stay up north. That way you miss the northern winter and the hot Florida summer. The other advantage of renting is that you can try different parts of Florida. Jerry and Linda, FL avocados are huge, about at least three times bigger than the ones in the grocery store from Chili or Mexico. I bet that tree you saw the other day was FL avocado.
I found out in the summer if you go out to golf between 12:30 - 1:30 the hottest time of the day you can go out on you own most players don’t like it in the heat. I never had a problem getting on by myself but it’s more fun to play with someone and meet new friends

Great show 👍 Jerry and Linda we are covered in snow here in Indiana I've got a few more years to work than I will be there. I've been off from work due to knee replacement surgery I'm doing ok all questions are helping me to prepare to come there stay safe.
I liked your discussion of New Yorkers Jerry. When I first moved from IL to CT many years ago, I was taken aback by many people’s “apparent” rudeness. But soon realized that rudeness isn’t an absolute - there’s a continuum, and the norms vary around the country. The way that many of them are isn’t necessarily rude, it’s perhaps more open, honest, and real. It can be refreshing if you embrace it. On the contrary, the way that many southerners or midwesterners behave can seem phony, or as if they’re hiding what they really think because they’re trying to be too polite. It’s good to have differences and to embrace different perspectives - it makes life more interesting.
@@dawittywats1934 Well, how rude! jk I was afraid I might offend someone, and I apologize for that. It’s a complicated subject, & it gets dangerous when you make generalizations about a whole group of people (but being PC gets us nowhere). I get upset with New Yorkers quite often (especially when driving), but most of them are very nice, and very interesting (and yes, opinionated) once you get to know them. I think we all just need to try to appreciate all different types of people even if we don’t yet fully understand them. Life can be tough in NYC, so you gotta be tough to make it, maybe they’ll soften up the longer they’re down there. Then again, some people are just jerks and will never change - try to avoid them, and don’t let them get to you. Oh, and have a nice day.
I have your skin type. Just had about 15 burn spots on my face, hand and arms. Not fun but needs to be done. Most of my sun damage was from many years ago. Thanks for making people aware to see their dermatologist often.
Hi Linda and Jerry! Wendy and I really enjoy your videos. We will be staying in The Brownwood area for the month of March and would love to meet you guys!
Wow. I would think the pools, fitness centers, shuffeboard etc be included in your monthly fees. But the gym , weight machines, treadmills etc included. Would understand fees for personal trainers and specialty classes like yoga, Pilates, spin class etc.
Many trips to NYC and they are in my experience always eminently willing to help. People confuse assertiveness which is necessary in a busy city with rudeness. In NYC if you don’t speak up you miss the subway stop.
Is it just us who are hooked on the jingle “🎶 Send us your questions, we got your answers.... Maaailbag Monnndaay 🎶”?? Anyway, haters gonna hate, no matter what. New Yorkers catch alot of flak but we know of so many nice people from NY. Rude people exist from every place. Still there are waaayyy more nice people than rude people. Thank you Mr & Mrs Sunshine as always.. Hello Gizmo!!
When you said that you and Linda just turned 65, I was actually flabbergasted!! You both look fantastic!! As far as New Yorkers go, I've met some great people from there, when I lived in Florida and elsewhere. So I don't understand why some people tend to stereotype them. Love you Jerry and Linda!
We love your videos. Thanks for all you do. We are a little shocked to hear that the fitness rooms cost extra on top of all the other fees. You would think it would be included in 55 plus community! We feel lucky to have this information from you.
Perhaps the fruit tree you are referring to is a Jack Fruit. We live in Hawaii and your description of the fruit sounds like what is growing on our property. They get huge and turn yellow when ripe. The taste is strange and takes some time to get used to, if ever. LOL. We use ours for fertilizer for pineapples, oranges and bananas. Absolutely adore the both of you and we love your show!
One thing to keep in mind is that when snowbirds first arrive there is an adjustment period. Many come down from a faster moving lifestyle and need time to relax and slow down. 😊
I'm surprised to learn about the memberships to the fitness centers. You'd think they'd be included. Sad. On the flip side, LOVE watching Linda get the giggles!

Comment addressed to Mike, its unfortunate but the reputation of NY’ers precedes them and it isn’t good. Live in Maine, worked years for a well known retail camping outdoor company. Lots of NY tourists frequent here and the “in a NY minute” fits well. If more NY’ers could leave The Big City attitude behind their reception could be more welcoming. Honestly, I came home one night from work helping customers vacationing from all over the country and realized why us Northeastener’s have such a bad reputation. By comparison the Southener’s and Midwestener’s are the kindest, most appreciative, patient people ever. Manners and thank you’s, even a “ how are you today?!” A joy to be around. Mike sure you can improve on this image 😊
Regarding New Yorkers, also keep in mind, not everyone is from NYC, we live way upstate NY, like in close to Canada, its as rural as it gets. Not as congested or go go as you say as the big city. Pollical wise its also a red area. Good luck with your skin treatments.
Great as always guys, the Rules are the Rules and make The Villages what it is, know them before you go. Canadians in my area are flying into Buffalo and having their vehicle shipped over the Border and waiting for them at the Airport. Our Government has dropped the hammer on travellers going anywhere, very strict rules, testing and cost when coming back.
I was just in the Villages three weeks ago and driving from Ohio Via I-77/I-26/I-95 I saw a car carrier on 95 heading south loaded with 8-9 cars with Ontario license plates - figured it was headed someplace in FL.
Hi Jerry & Linda I bet you played a part in some of those resale and new homes sold in January! I know you have made me want to move there! Thank you for all you do for us. We always look forward to your fun & informative videos. Thank you. By the way was that maybe a Papaya tree that you saw?
I think the political climate and the media have done much harm in attempting to divide us by race, religion, age, region and ideology. I left all social media because of the hateful, dangerous attacks taking place. I’m so much better without Facebook and Instagram. We need to individually fight against division and not allow others to influence how we see and treat others. We need to seek those things we have in common - and there are many. We’re all here for such a short time.
Another great video, just a small correction. Canadian here, we have always been able to fly into Florida, during Covid. But cannot drive across the border. However, again, you have to fly home, no driving. Its possible, in some circumstances to drive, but many tests/forms/rules before you can cross the border into Canada. Then an extremely strict quarantine. As for us, we are just waiting it out till we can get a vaccine here.

Jerry, just so you know veterans living outside The Villages can attend a club in a recreation center. Of course the club must have something to do with the military. Our US Navy CT club has a couple of men who live outside TV. One of them served on the USS Pueblo when it was captured by the North Koreans in 1968.
Hi Jerry and Linda, thanks for yet anther interesting and informative video. Love the mailbag Monday intro. Very professional. That Dublin calendar looks interesting. You may be interested to know that Dublin has a light rail tram system similar to here in Melbourne Australia. I have a friend here in Australia, who spent some time years ago in Baton Rouge LA. well done to you both guesting on Skip's Wednesday Night Live. That was a real highlight to the show. You have salt water pools there? Excellent!!! I remember back up in Sydney where I used to live they had an indoor salt water pool at Ramsgate, which was absolutely awesome. They even had a miniature island in the centre of the pool. I have great memories of visiting there with friends. You mentioned about New York people. I would imagine that the pace in New York would be quite fast and in some situation, this can affect people's actions and responses. Once again, this is only with certain people and certainly not the entire population. I noticed this when living in Sydney Australia, being a faster pace of life in comparison to here in Melbourne. Anyway, take care and all the very best. Robert.

Hi Jerry & Linda I bet you played a part in some of those resale and new homes sold in January! I know you have made me want to move there! Thank you for all you do for us. We always look forward to your fun & informative videos. Thank you. By the way was that maybe a Papaya tree that you saw?
Thanks, FD… yes, we believe that was indeed a papaya tree.
@@JERRYANDLINDA I forgot to like this video, so I watched it again and made sure to like it!
Thanks FD!
Preach! 😁😁
Thanks. Love your channel😊
I also get tickled, Linda, sometimes at the most inappropriate times!😂
Another great video, just a small correction. Canadian here, we have always been able to fly into Florida, during Covid. But cannot drive across the border. However, again, you have to fly home, no driving. Its possible, in some circumstances to drive, but many tests/forms/rules before you can cross the border into Canada. Then an extremely strict quarantine. As for us, we are just waiting it out till we can get a vaccine here.
Thanks, Shirley. Great information!
Florida is the only non-freezing state right now! 🌞. So lucky! Florida rocks 💥🙌🙌🙌
Yes Anne, it is very nice right now.
@@JERRYANDLINDA Do you hear about Texas???
"...even some from Indiana misbehave..."
That's some kinda serious shade thrown at Skip! 😜
Btw your mailbag "intro" sez "January 15 edition"
Have a super week!
😁😁Brain freeze! This one is Feb. 15, 2021... TODAY! 😜 We have a template that we change the date and color on each week. This week evidently Jerry 😯 forgot to change the date! Sorry.
You can learn how to play shuffleboard in about 10 minutes from a UA-cam video like we did. I'm not even near retirement age and I love shuffleboard - simple rules and easy exercise. Give it a go!
We are going to give it a go, Michelle.
We loved to play on cruise ships, but don't really know the rules so we make up our rules!!!!
Jerry, just so you know veterans living outside The Villages can attend a club in a recreation center. Of course the club must have something to do with the military. Our US Navy CT club has a couple of men who live outside TV. One of them served on the USS Pueblo when it was captured by the North Koreans in 1968.
Thank you! Glad to hear it!
Robert.
Thanks for the excellent post Robert! G'day!
Yep....love a good king cake
Did you find the baby in the king cake? Thanks for all of the info! I look forward to Mailbag Mondays. It gets me more anxious for our lifestyle visit in April! We are looking forward to buying a home and being residents!
Not yet, Debbie. We are still looking.😁😁😁
Born raised early life Okeechobee been called snow bird at restaurant on a Friday nite because i made reservation and was taken to front of line to be seated there was a governor i believe it was walkin lauton who ran a add on tv scolding natives for calling out snow birds saying all the taxes they pay the restaurants they support the no income taxes we don't pay all the good things snow birds do for us we never had it so good Desantis should bring it back

@@cathypaul5349 Yep good man his son has a restaurant in Bradenton on beach
I miss your little pics on the intro :(,but I figured that it was a techno glitch lol.Very informative and fun, thank you.
Brain Freeze!
Jerry and Linda, I'm from Long Island New York and I'm a very nice person! LOL ♫♪ "Ain't misbehaven'" ♪ ♫ You're right, every person is an individual. Not a good idea to label a group of people because each person in that group is different from the other, in character, morals, talent, thoughts, etc. 😎
We know you're good Theresa... you're GREAT! Wise words from you!
OMG, I love King Cake!! If you're a renter, you're a resident. The home owners should transfer their resident rights over to you.
Oh Jerry, I hear ya when it comes to the dermatologist. I go every 6 months to have places froze. I guess that's the price we pay for having fair complexion.
Just went to the Dermatologist today, Jerry, and my face now looks like yours! lol There must be a sale on the little freezing gadgets! I told the doctor that they should start selling a smaller version of that gadget at CVS and Walgreens so that we can do it at home.
Great idea, Frank!
The green oblong fruits are papaya
Fruit trees are allowed. Definitely pick the fruit when it’s ripe. 😊
you two are great..
Thanks, David!
Cars and trucks can park in driveway.
Hi there! Love spending time with you two, so much great inspiration and information...I have a question though, could you tell me are there any VA hospitals nearby?
Yes, there is a center in The Villages. I don't know much about it.
@@JERRYANDLINDA thank you 😊
Amenity fees $164 are required by renters at the Lofts at Brownwood which include free Gulf, swimming, tennis, pickleball, bocce, etc. Organized activities through recreation Dept., fishing lakes, and fitness trails. I don't see renters discriminated against where they have the same rights to participate as the full time residents. Just saying......
Could you please do a video on what to expect on a lifestyle visit?
I would so enjoy hearing about the lifestyle visit too . Maybe a golf cart drive by of the villas that we stay in near Brownwood ? My husband Tim & I will be there 04/02 Thru 04/10 for this adventure week . CANT WAIT 😊😊😊. I have watched all your videos the past few months as well. ( some twice ) . You both are just so personable , fabulous & it’s not only because your Hoosiers 😉( lol ) . Yep ...we live in Carmel In. Hope to BE RESIDENTS in TV ..... Sooner than later too !
Watch Rusty Nelson's You Tube channel. He does a video about his Lifestyle visit to The Villages. I believe he visited in November, so just a few months ago. He is planning to return to The Villages in April, so he is also posted a video about the rental process.
We love Bocci too!
Hi Jerry and Linda and Gizmo, hope you are warm in Florida. its -10 this morning in Colo. Springs Co. Can I send it your way
No thanks, Diana! 😁😁😁😁
Now wait a minute Jerry. I'm from Indiana and I know you are to, and I have never heard of anyone from Indiana misbehave.
🤣😝😆🤣😝😆🤣
Good to know 👍👍👍
Hello from NH! Found your channel accidentally a month or so ago and am hooked! Hubby and I have a handful of years til retirement; we will definitely be checking out the villages when it comes time. See you when we get there 😜. (Hey, did you know you put Jan 15 in today’s Mailbag Monday? You retirees really don’t know what day or month it is! Can’t wait to have that problem...Lol)

@@JERRYANDLINDA you can blame the dermatologist. For the brain freeze.
No misbehavior in Indiana! (Well maybe once) with all of this ice and snow I’d misbehave today but it’s too cold. 9 degrees this morning. My little dog looked at us like we were crazy at potty time.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Is celebration near the villages.Keepout of the sun when you can.
Celebration is near Kissimee, FL by Disney World
Linda, you are adorable! Jerry, you are tolerable! 😂😂😂 Just kidding, best wishes to the both of you...
LOL, Cito! I resemble that remark! 😁😁😁😁😁😆😆😆
Great show guys... Jerry, you've found the fountain of youth with that face freezing . I'm going to have to look into this... LOL
It burns today!!! Good in the long run but a pain in the face!
I was very disappointed when we did our Lifestyle visit and were told the fitness centers cost money.
