There was a hole-in -the-wall place in Plaza Mayor, the served nothing but deep-fried squid on a great bun, and draft beer. One of my favorite snacks, and a friendly proprietor. 36 years ago! Talk to those waiters outside the restaurants . In Portugal I did that and wound up with a fabulous Turkey dinner, almost like American! My favorite meal. Madrid, no crowds in winter, chilly, but cheaper. Nothing pizzes me off more than all those McdDonald outlets.I do not eat that crap at home. Me encanta Madrid, cuando fui no pude hacer amistades allá pues en ese tiempo tenia pareja. Es de las cosas que me gustarìa, poder hacer amigos y amigas verdaderos en esa ciudad.
Wonderful walk ! Madrid has charm and elegance and the Spanish architecture very evident. Sad to see that most major cities in the world have homeless people sleeping on sidewalks....in any event, what a lively city, sidewalks need to be cleaned of litter though hahaha....but apart from that very interesting! thank you as ever sweetie :)
Thank you MMV. Yes it’s sad to see so many homeless people. I didn’t notice too much litter while there, apart from by the homeless. There is a lot of street renovation going on at the moment, which made much of the centre look like a building site.
Litter in Madrid????,go to Paris,Berlin or any other city...,even London(the city where I live) some parts are quite grimy because people have the bad habit of eat fast food in the streets..., something that in Madrid will be unthinkable (at least between the locals) ,Madrid is probably one of the cleanest cities in the world,in Spain the streets in the cities are washed up with detergent and water every single night of the year,if in a rare occasion you see a paper on the floor you can be sure It was a tourist who left it lying there....,and the facades of the buildings are impeccable like no other city,it is very common to see scaffolding in buildings mainly in Madrid during the month of August and the first two weeks of September ,due to the fact that the city is almost empty since 80% of the local population takes vacations during this period of time, the city council uses this month to clean the facades that need to be cleaned of the entire city, any tourist who travels to Madrid one of his first impressions is the magnificent and impeccable cleanliness of ist beautiful and colourful facades .
The majority of homeless people are from Easterrn Europe, who come here because the climate is milder than in their countries, and they live better in the street, not Spanish, you can see it
Thank you for shearing this great video ,but will get better if any place you arrived you say or writer the name so we know as we walking with you where we are walking .we have plane to visit Spain next year and we want to know about the city .Thank you so much.
Not entirely true S.O.J.I've seen U.K. tourists wear those types of shirts.I've seen German tourists wear them too,Japanese....well they'll wear them everywhere they go.Canadians....yes...Chinese....of course..I'll admit, watching this, I see tonnes of tourists, from everywherewandering around. Of course, Plaza Mayor is the tourist trap, delujo, of Madrid.
@@brucemarsico6 it's more the uk and the us than anyone else, the short of people that wear that kind of shirts tend to come from english speaking countries tbh. I have never seen an asian man with a british flag or a german
@@QwertyUiop-bs2zr Well then, most Madrilenos must be out of town. What I see is very little difference from people in Madrid to Buenos Aires to Rio de Janeiro to Rome to Amsterdam. Obviously the wearing of shorts is international. I can't believe all of the people passing by here are either British or USA citizens. I see a lot of Spanish people dressed rather shabby.......world wide it is...

Unfortunately this area of Madrid has yet to improve. Bars and restaurants in this area are still too "touristy" and have not benefited from the kind of renovation that would attract more local people, except in neighbouring La Latina and Cava Baja. The area could do as well with some new paving and more cleaning.
