This comeback has been my favorite. The MBTI switching from E to I refers to going from extroverted to introverted. I interpret it like when you're in love and you feel shy sometimes and outgoing other times, and it makes sense in the context of her experiencing love by having conflicting emotions, cause that's just how she knows she's in love. Or maybe Im super off the mark, who knows.
The E-I Dichotomy ist part of MBTI instruments There exist 4 dichotomies. But this dichotomy is not necessary an mental illness

I think lunatic is mostly just about being unable to handle the intense and rapidly changing emotions in the middle of a relationship....but I think the way it’s presented, so fun and tongue in cheek, means there’s a lot of self forgiveness about it? One of the biggest hops of the week all the same
shutdown expresses what it's like to make love to a woman in a poetic way using many metaphors.

in Korean, the mountain and the bridge would be a woman's breasts and legs, and the painting is analogous to making love.

Lunatic is the title track for her new mini album 6equence that came out the 19th! There's even an all English version of Lunatic along with 5 other songs :) I think you would love Ddu Ddu Ddu! There's even clips of her performing it live as well as a few music show stages of her performing Lunatic live.
Fun fact: she has confirmed that the little scene at the end with the door is a hint at her full length album she's working on!

Yes, there's an album called 6equence. It's a concept album consisting of 6 scenes from a Moon Movie about a relationship.
Imo the retro setting and comfy clothes in Shutdown are the Korean version of a Leave It to Beaver or Partridge Family set & costume design and are intended to normalize the eroticism of the w/w relationship by placing it in an iconic, homey as apple pie or kimchi setting. It's another groundbreaking song by a Mamamoo member and even though we've come to expect nothing less from them it's shockingly bold and uninhibited and sexy and sensual af.
Lunatic is just as surprising in a completely different way. Does this sound like a song by someone who's been in the biz for 8 years to you? To me she sounds like a brash, ambitious rookie on a sugar & caffeine diet. The chorus is so silly that Wheein couldn't sing it because she kept laughing when she got to the blah, blah blah and lulu nanana parts but the lines about how love makes her crazy are much more real and personal. The legendary Mamamoo serious artist vs crackhead beagle duality. If you haven't noticed, tho I'm sure you have, love, desire & sex are often dangerous, risky business in Mamamoo songs and I think Lunatic is another example. Moonbyul somehow successfully mixes the crazy, razor edge, out of control feelings with the exuberant joy of free-falling into love. Songs as silly and fun as Lunatic are usually no more substantial than cotton candy and just as forgettable but this one is sticking to my ribs and is one of my favorite songs released so far this year.
moonbyul said that she wanted to release an even dirtier version of shutdown and that it originally had an english title that ending with “-ing” … sometimes her mind scares me
There is a funny clip from a recent Solar vlive that featured Moonbyul where she is teasing Moonbyul about the Shutdown lyrics. "Oh, and just where is 'there' hmmm". They also sing a snippet from the song together. Moonbyul was surprised that the lyrics did not get a 19+ rating.

Great songs from Moonbyul and yeah Shutdown is entirely sexual innuendo, definitely felt like the 3rd wheel watching that, Moonbyul said in during the Studio Hwa Night(Hwasa taking over Moonbuls show to interview Moonbyul) that 6equence is about the stages of a relationship, each song a different stage. Shutdown is obvious, Lunatic is the crazy obsessed person after the breakup. Moonbyul was suprised it wasnt given a adult content rating, which Hwasa said her video got that rating for one curse word. Just to add to the insanity, My bias is Solar so Moonbyul was interviewing Solar and then had Solar sing 2 bars of Seori's part from Shutdown. Glad it was only 2 bars, I am not sure I could have survived more of that.
if you noticed in the first part of the song it the lyrics was like "from your head to toe...." , it was with "your" and "you" and then at the last part after "baby baby slow down" the lyrics turned like this "from my head to toe....." and "on my lap till the next morning" , it was with "my" and "i"
thanks for reacting, yea, the whole mv has many things happening, 3 of her outfit has written words on them, the words on the red jacket is "moomoos, thank you, i am sorry, i love you " the white one in hospital when she woke up has "Lunatic " all over, the lone white fit she wear while running away has moomoos written on the sleeves.
All the songs in her album "6sequence" is related/in sequence/a love story concept, it is an album which contain emotion/feeling from 1st meeting someone you love to break up , from "G999" (1st meet) to "shut down" then onwards.

This comeback is so LEGIT!! First I fell in love with Shutdown and now Lunatic. It's a fun song and makes me keep vibing to it. Whereas Shutdown makes me shy whenever I listen to it. Lol. She did a great job in writing the lyrics and making the songs.
0:40 She has a beautiful voice also one look at her MV for Lovers in the Night (ua-cam.com/video/RLPWiQKqi-I/v-deo.html) and you understand she's one of the few Korean singers that would agree to feature in Shutdown.
As someone else has said the subs on the Mamamoo MV is the English ver. of this song which she has apparently said has a different meaning. But the actual translation I think makes more sense with the MV.
Her album 6equence goes through the stages of a relationship (one that ends Lol) and each song on her album is a "scene" in a certain stage of a relationship. Hopefully we'll get visuals for the rest of the album 😊
For me I think Lunatic is nearing the demise of a relationship. This crazy/obsessive way of expressing love being the catalyst. The Korean translation (and some eng vers parts) mentions Mood swings, changing MBTI because of love- from extrovert to introvert, shutting the person out then begging them, crying and laughing, cursing at each other, seducing each other, only getting mad at the other and losing control.
Maybe considering all of this, she had a hand in killing their relationship/love and that may be what the "killer" part is referring to in the MV. I don't know, food for thought lol

I loved this!!! It seems like it really takes a member of the LGBT community to look at a queercoded mv and lyrics and see it for what it really is. And yeah, I think lots of moos think that Lunatic is their favorite moonbyul song now, me included :)))

@@sheabutterfly 1thek has the directly translated version but the translations on MMM official uses the English version. So they are a bit different. Like in the English version it says nothing about her mom whereas in the directly translated version it says her mom in one line in the beginning.

ya, moonbyul is the murderer of my heart LOL Ahhh I'm so happy you reacted to this thank you!! I went through a rollercoaster with her works ahah. I think people might have said it but the RBW vid's english lyrics is actually the lyrics for the english version. Which is different from Moonbyul's actual lyrics in korean at least so i think those add a bit more nuance to it. Anyways, my neck hurts from bopping so hard xD

From the beginning to oh na na na:
She is basically saying that she know she is selfish; she feels if you love her than you have to do what she says.
The changing MBTI (although this is not a good generalization):
An E person would be more cheerful; they like people, more friendly outwardly. An I type would be more quiet and kept to themselves.
She is saying she has severe mood shift.
B4 the chorus she is saying she is on an emotional high.
The chorus is like when you are fighting w/ some1, and that other person just get hysterical; you can't reason with them.
She is that other person. She is so emotionally overcharged that she can't see, hear, nor understand what ur saying. Just like a lunatic.
The rap part basically says the same thing, but darker. It's the obsessive; I want you to love me, or I'll kill you kind of mentality?

She has two other b-sides. I think you'll love them if you liked Absence. They're very good. She wrote in every song of the album except Lunatic. Not sure where you watched the Lunatic MV but she has an English version for this song. And her company basically copy pasted the English version lyrics to the MV that's why the lyrics may seem off. The MV on 1theK however is translated properly so you should check it out there.

It would have been great if you used the 1theK upload for LUNATIC MV if you really want to understand moonbyul's lyrics. The eng subs there are close to the Korean language. The one uploaded by RBW on Mamamoo's channel is the same as the one for the LUNATIC eng version which is quite different to the original i would say.
