  • So close to being a true masterpiece. Alas. There's no credits. You can't adjust voice volume.
This game is also on PC but the PS1 version is a good port of the game and it features some changes to rooms, puzzles and music. It's also easier to work with since I don't have jump through the hoops necessary to get a 20+ year old PC game to run on Windows 10.
I've never played this game prior to producing this video. It's exactly the kind of thing that I'm interested in and it's a shame that I didn't get to experience it back in the day. I'm not sure if I would have figured out how to complete it, though.
There is a large amount of non-linearity to this game, especially after you repair the power core and it's necessary to juggle items constantly using hatches and the vacuum tube as the game progresses.
There are several items that serve no purpose beyond wasting inventory space as well as numerous duplicate keys and while you are free to take everything, there's very few locations where you can store items which presents an obvious problem when combined with enemies that take varying amounts of bullets to down and don't stay down.
The kick doesn't do anything except stun a specific enemy type.
I do try to be efficient but there's some stumbling late game. This is a very elaborate game and it's easy to miss one thing you need.
Not every body can be searched for items and not every item can be examined. I don't examine everything in the environment because hearing "it's a vacuum tube" while staring at a vacuum tube isn't particularly enlightening. Late game, there aren't many things to examine.
    Notes
After repairing the power core and speaking to MOOD again, the initial dialogue replays. I chalk this up to being a bug or perhaps they expected the player to fix the core first but you don't learn that you need to fix the core until you speak with MOOD. Whatever the case, I skip the repeated dialogue after I repair the core.
After raising the bulkheads, if you try to have the characters meet in person, you'll get a game over. There's a story reason for this. The scene is just a few seconds of close up shots for the characters with no sound before the game over text is shown.
In the Simureal, you can't run.
The small enemies can be killed but will immediately respawn. Screen changes can despawn them.
When you go to get the resonator and spectrometer, you can run past the thing and eventually acquire one of the most powerful weapons in the game but I don't do this because what you need to do in the area can only be done later.
When you enter the Geolab, the thing is supposed to start killing you but in the PS1 version, it seems to not work properly. Some voice overs are also missing in this room. Supposedly, once you finish this puzzle, enemies won't get back up as often but I'm not sure that this is the case. The clue for the rover was on Pickman's note. I hope you were looking closely because I wasn't. I may have had to go back through the footage.
Before finding and using the rainbow tag, I had placed Karne in the decontamination room but when you open the tagged door, it also opens the decontamination door and this caused Karne to be visible and within range, which led to a game over.
I encountered a completely game breaking bug in the Kremlin room. When I would use the computer, the game switched back to Matlock and thought I was in the medlab, despite still being in the Kremlin room and unable to leave. To fix this, I had to switch to Kenzo and then back to Karne. After this point, you can start dealing with the large enemies but serious graphical glitches can happen after you pop each one. This is fixed by swapping weapons.
You need the gloves from the Arboretum to gather the sample. The guides I found were pretty vague about this which is annoying as the run through the corridor could have been avoided. I use Kenzo instead of Matlock for this section because only Kenzo can use the item found in the area near dorm #4 (you can't open dorm #4, even with the tag at this point) and it is required later on in the game.
If you don't understand what was going on with the Chorus, the thing is supposed to be striking the obelisk but in the PS1 version, the animation and sounds are missing. You put the Chorus on the stone, it strikes the stone and charges the Chorus. If you're standing on the altar when it pulses, you die.
Again, I hope you were paying attention to the notes for the color puzzle. You do have to take the readings first in the Kremlin room before the game lets you input the password.
You can examine the heart but no dialogue plays. Same with the cures. The later parts of the game are clearly rushed and lacking polish. It's really unfortunate.

I was very tempted to label this as a no damage playthrough because it accidentally is right up until the end as you need to fire the Psionara at least three times in the PS1 version and the Psionara drains health when fired. No clickbaiting for me.
I guess I could go with no healing but I don't think that's as appealing. I don't normally do challenge runs but I think it's worth exploring occasionally.

Know it's a bit late butt you could call it a no hit run.

This is an insanely disgusting playthrough to what appears to be an unreasonably difficult game. The amount of times you must have played this to be able to know exactly what to do at all times without taking damage by any 1 enemy truly hurts my brain. Great job, this was like watching a movie of a game I've always wanted to enjoy but knew I'd be too frustrated with to really dig into myself.

I remember buying this at a Sony outlet on vacation. Asked my parents to get it for me cause it was the cheapest game in the display lol. Never got to beat it though. Kinda wish i still had my original copy.

I don't think I paid more than $15-20 and mine is complete. Picked it up a few months back

This is one of the worst games I have ever played. But your LP leaves me curious.

I appreciate this game for its non-linear design but most people really should not touch it without a guide.
