Hey man! I'm the EmCee for Doki (I'll make sure you get the name right next time ;) ). Thanks so much for your compliments, seriously, it means a lot to me that someone liked my energy and how I approach emceeing for Doki.
A lot of your points are extremely cool to see and your concerns are valid. Some, unfortunately, are a bit out of our control or are just super costly. Guidebook, for example, is THOUSANDS of dollars to host. It's not perfect, but our web designer makes something similar, but less expensive for us. Happy to ever chat!
Hello! Thank you so much for the info. I actually did not know that about Guidebook, that really blows. Luckily I did not take away any points for that. I totally understand some things are out of the control of the con staff, but I have to make my reviews from the point of view of someone who will be spending money to attend the con. That being said I really enjoyed the con, I really enjoyed your emceeing, and I hope to return next year to do it all again!

Thank you for coming to Dokidokon!! I was the team lead for the video game room and trust me when I say that I’ve been looking for guitar hero for the game room. It’s just incredibly rare in my area to find a working guitar, let alone two. I’d love to hear any more feedback/suggestions from everyone! Also I’ll work on building some more arcade cabs for future cons too ❤

Glad you had a fun time at Doki 24. It's great to see an event focused on teambuilding grow to what it is today. They also run another con in St. Louis called Kokorokon.

I love the video you made for this convention, you got some really good shots of the panels and cosplayers!! Even my friend who was taking a sword class was right in front in one of the shots you got, that made our day!🖤
I'm happy you liked the video! I wonder if your friend is the one who was pointing at me during the sword class. Like I walked up to the room and one person pointed me out to their friend and they both stared at me for a second hahahaha

I actually volunteered at the very first Dokidokon in 2017. I haven't gone to it in recent years, but I'm always impressed to see how much it's grown. I might consider going back to it in the future, but I'm glad that you got the chance to check it out for yourself.

Tbh I really loved the vendors because most of it was small artists~ We have more than enough typical, generic merch at other cons or even online in general, and I strongly prefer seeing all the unique work and prints that are one of a kind. Just a personal preference though!
Don't get me wrong, I love seeing the small artists, I think that's amazing. We just wanted a better split of artists and general merch. Unfortunately I'm not personally into stickers, buttons, or prints so while I loved seeing them it meant most what was being sold just wasn't for me. I just think more variety is always better, personally
Im a Kalamazoo and I came to Dokidokon this year, it was my first con in general and i had an amazing time! definitely gonna be returning next year!

ive been waiting for this video!!! the con was a lot bigger this year, and felt like it got a little crowded at times 😭. i love the con overall but yes, you can really feel the lack of variety at times, big reason i dont attend the full weekend. happy to hear you had fun tho!! also just in case you didnt hear, the atm in the lobby had a skimmer on it (was found on sunday morning), hope you guys aren’t effected by that 😢
I for sure had a great time but yeah it felt like I could have gotten the whole experience just on Saturday
I saw the little note that you forgot about the table top game room. I’m one of the main volunteers for that room and I was wondering if you had any feedback specifically for us. I’m glad you had fun this weekend!
Unfortunantly, no one in my group ever really does much in the table top room so I always almost forget it. I'm sorry about this. Sadly I don't have any feedback on it because I just don't know much about it. I REALLY need to either get more into it or start bringing friends who are into it so I can learn what makes a good table top room. I will say I stepped in a couple of times and I really liked the size of the room and variety of games, everyone looked like there were having a great time. With my limited knowledge on table top gaming I thought it looked like a well put together table top room.

The con staff had parking passes in the con ops room that made parking only 10 dollars. My group had two cars and we both got a pass

@@ConventionReviews it wasn’t advertised on the website (at least that anyone could get it, on the website it said you needed a VIP badge) but in the discord one of the staff members said as long as you were in the raddison parking garage you just had to go to con ops to get one
Oh hey, I danced on stage. I was just an event attendee, and one of staff offered me the opportunity from the crowd. In truth, it was the agility of the staff to improvise is what deserves any credit.
That's great, though to me that makes the plan to keep the extended part of the stage an even stranger decision as they literally had no actual plan for it to be used during the dance. Odd. Hey you killed it though!
@@ConventionReviews Hey thanks! Yeah maybe a little bit unconventional, I assume it was left over from one of the other acts.
I think the first DJ also started to run sound after his set, and he was trying to milk more volume without redlining.
Honestly, in all my years doing performances, the smaller shows(of every kind) can really get some mileage from these small efficiency improvisations, and these guys were likewise punching above their weight class.
But this was only my 2nd con, and I'm just a local, so the con's aren't really my main experience.
Thus, thanks for this type of informative channel!
Parking should have been free with the room! I booked before hand and got free parking all three days as I asked for a Dokidokon specific room

Uhhh this is embarrassing, but I do not play genshin so I don't know which performance you mean hahaha. Can you give me the time stamp?

Ah dokidokon. The only con i ever volunteered for them o. Their first 2 years. considering i know one of the con chairs and close with them as i would never volunteer for another con. I go to cons to get away from work.😅 would definitely recommend as far as small cons go. Its very intimate and the staff makes it feel like fnaily going there.

There is definitely room to expand because it also seems to be a wedding there during the weekend which is an interesting dichotomy.
Personally I would swap the dealer's room and gaming room rating because gaming lacked a ton of arcades and even consoles but the dealer's room had a decent amount of merchandise compared to Isshocon which is a smaller con that launched this year in Suburban Detroit (looks like they moved to a slightly larger venue in 2025 due to demand).
Yeah I saw that it was a wedding, how interesting hahaha. Can’t imagine being a part of that 🤣. I really don’t agree on swapping the scores. I think game room was fine compared to so many cons I’ve seen of similar sizes. If Isshocon had less variety than this then that must have blown. Sounds like it would be like a 4 for the dealers, that’s bad!
@@ConventionReviews Isshocon wasn't bad in fact has a lot of potential since badges sold out and it was the first con. Another regional con to add to the check out list lol
