I reserve the word "artist" for someone better than me - even though that might subjective. Nevertheless, I enjoy painting, and most appreciative of art, and those who participate in it. Especially, those of you who take us on these outdoor expeditions and teach us how. So, thank you for what you do.

I would have given up at the first three fallen trees. I'd be saying "I need a chain saw here!!" I am an artist--returning to art after holding down jobs, and writing novels in my spare time. I decided to go back to art in my retirement years. I have tried to get out into our forest preserve, which we live on (management), and have been able to get an 11x14 painting done on an 85 degree day, this year. Not bad, I think for my age. I finished it up in my studio but hey, I did it and was happy with the result.
Just love watching you, Turner, with your art and adventures. I work in acrylics myself, and really have found it relaxing to paint.

Hi Turner, I am a amateur painter on my journey to become a full time professional artist in the near future. Currently I am working in a 5 day ( full time) job. I have become a much better artist by watching great artist like you, Andrew Tischler, Cesar Santos, Sean Cheetham, and Bryan Mark Taylor to name a few on UA-cam. Even though you all have different ways and style of expressing your techniques of visual work, I have learned a lot over last two years. Hope all is well with you and your family. Hello from Green Cove Springs Florida. Thanks for sharing your work. Joe Kirkpatrick

Hi. I’m in Australia. Only’s been painting for about 4 yrs…. In acrylic. Have never tried oil.
I love seascapes… maybe because I was born and raised 200 metres from the ocean. have to love the surrounding land also… only so
Much blue and green I can look at without feeling seasick. rocks fascinate me….. the wear and tear and torture of the elements, followed by the peace.
This is an outlet for me, and you sure can paint rock!
I’m always afeared of painting trees. I try to get them toooooo accurate , but learning from you to be loose.
Your loose style suits me… allows me to be un afeared …. Less precise but allowing more detail , if that makes sense.
Your style is relaxed and casual, which I need. We all need.
Love your shapes, the curves that soften, and the quick strokes that add the drama. I’d like to think I’m “experiencing “ more colour, not concerned about colours clashing, nature doesn’t worry about that… those colours just learn to live with each other in harmony. Thank you for that.
Think your attitude impresses me the most. Calm, but enthusiastic.
You are a pleasure to watch .
There you are trudging through swamps and rocky crevices without concern, and I’m glued to the screen on snake watch for you.
    ….. lol, true story.
Yeah, you can paint what’s real like no other, it’s your home and pride , and blood and pulse and mountain air and affinity are in every stroke.
You are the best, and I thank you for sharing. Bless.

My wife started studying watercolor when the boys went off to college. I am a medical device engineer and started oil painting a few years ago, as a hobby that we can do together. We paint plein air, quick small studies. We live on the coast and do a lot of harbor/water scenes as well as woods and saltmarsh. You are a wonderful inspiration. We sometimes watch your videos with 91 year old Mom, she loves your work. I hope to take in a workshop one day. Keep it up.

To add to the comments and partly satisfy your curiosity, I’m a avid spectator to artistry. I really enjoy the creative process. And In truth I have an ambition to be far more active in art, I am a fringe dweller of the art scene and I wish I was more.
I enjoyed your painting, I have been enjoying your painting for about a year or so. I find your extravagance bewildering but also intrigued with the honesty of your style.
These little bits of watching over your shoulder as you create really do inspire me.
As an aside at the start of this video, the area looked burnt out, was this so as it looked that way from my experience in Aust.

I have really enjoyed your videos and they have piqued my interest in plain air painting. I am a Mountain Line Bus Driver in Missoula. I have a n MFA in German Lol! I sketch and paint. I do geometric ballpoint pen sketches, which are often studies for my paintings. I currently am painting with acrylics on canvas, but used to paint with watercolors and gouache on paper. I collect Native American Art, particularly Hopi Kachina Carvings as I am originally from Tucson. I am also teaching myself art history. I watch tons of art history documentaries and subscribe to several art magazines. I thoroughly enjoy watching you and have learned from your videos. Although, it is not plain air, I did a realistic landscape painting of the DNRC here in Missoula from a cellphone pic. I took. I used the basic techniques of watching you and others and my painting turned out nicely.

Love your videos. Retired chemistry teacher from Calif, now living in Ohio. Semi-pro watercolorist (I've sold just a few). I miss the West; your videos help me recapture that feeling of grandeur. I especially love your sense of color.

Admire your tenacity to get to that location. As a plein air painter I have gone into some difficult places but nothing like that. Started watching you in the beginning of the pandemic. Keep inspiring

Its always amazing how these paintings come together. It feels so middle painting stuck (from an artist view on how I paint) and then at the end it comes together like magic. It seems so hard to paint this way, but at the same time very protected from the ways of AI painting coming out.

I've been painting murals for 35 years with a few paintings here and there. Watercolor, acrylics and oils. Murals were mostly children and realistic. I want to learn how to 'loosen up'.. I love your style! Thanks for sharing 🙏

Appreciate your energy and execution. I'm retired and I'm venturing to do plein air. I have one trip under my belt into my backyard with my dump garden cart loaded with watercolors and inktense stuff. I'm going to try oil and gouache next. Sorry you're having a rough time getting to your painting locations. I wouldn't stand a chance with going where you go. My next venture is getting out further than my backyard. If it's any concession you're painting reflects the wild uncertainty of nature. I know I'm overloaded and overwhelmed by all the different mediums. Good luck 👍 Jerry

I'm an artist in Taiwan, I don't like to go out to sketch, your videos give me the motivation to go out to paint, and I really like the colors you use and the fluidity and thickness of your paintings. Thank you! 🤟

You need a strap, so you can strap your canvas on your back, as well as a shoulder-strap for your easel, so you can carry it hands free on your shoulder. Then you will have two arms free to catch yourself if you fall (and to serve as balancing counterweights). I am at 3:22 in the video and am afraid you are going to fall. (You could also then pick up a long stick and have a pole to help you navigate when you are crossing over on a fallen tree, etc.). Also, long pants (or zippered pants that can become shorts) to protect your legs from sharp branches, etc. Also, per your question; I am recently retired and getting back into painting, so I will call myself an artist. I also appreciate art (as, I suppose most artists do). Every time I watch you set up that easel, I want to tighten up the legs so they don't wobble. [final note, I hope your bear spray is (loosely) attached to your belt for easy access]. Did you end up painting over the central black/grey cloud?

I’m an amateur - been drawing and painting since I was a kid. Started watching your videos in early Covid times and have really enjoyed them. Definitely inspired me to paint more. Thanks for that.
