You can just tell the rx8 handles much better than the dc5 by watching how easily it keeps up. And that’s coming from a dc5 owner. I want a rx8 one day
I mean... I'll trade the 9500 rpm redline for some of the 7s features. Of course it's not fuel efficient, its a sports car, get over it. and as far as reliability, mine has 202k miles on the first motor. They last long, it's just no one takes care of them.
Rx8 lacks power,horrible fuel efficiency considering power/weight ratio, reliability issues up the wazooo. If the 8 had the 7's motor it would be on par with the NSX
If the 8 had the 7's lack of safety except for a driver side airbag, it would weigh a lot less, and please be mindful that it has two rear doors and seats etc, further contributing to weight. The 7 actually has poorer fuel economy than the 8, sorry to burst your bubble (Hence why Mazda made the Renesis in the first place), and the earlier 8's had less oil injected into the housings, hurting reliability. Considering all those things and even considering the 8 has been proven to have better handling characteristics than the 7 (Proven by RE Amemiya) the 8 is, in fact, a good car.

Reliability was better on the 7 imo you didn't have to worry about the engine flood issue as much. The 8 handling is supreme and the LSD is solid. It not a family 4 seater, I'm 5'9 167pounds and I can't comfortably sit in the back seats. It's a true sports car with a bad choice for a motor. Put a 1jz in that engine bay
S2k is overrated all the time gets slayed by z33 on touge when you see times, or watch tracks like z33 vs s2k vs another z33... I just said this cuz rx8 s2k and z33 are rivals by people. I dont see how cuz by my calc. 1.z33 2.rx8 3.s2k

It handles a bit better because it's an FR, but watch 2:28 closely, it was mainly driver error. Too much braking...
