This is a superb rendering of Raga Deskar by the accomplished Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty from the Tansen collection of original compositions by the legendary musician who came to be known as the monarch of Indian music. The renditions in this album feature both the vocal technique of Dhrupad and Khayal style of singing. Vocalist, composer, lyricist and Guru, Ajay Chakraborty ranks alongside the legends of Indian classical music. Although considered a scion and doyen of the Patiala-Kasur Gharana, he has adapted even the most subtle features of other major classical gharanas like Indore, Delhi, Jaipur, Gwalior, Agra, Kirana and Rampur. Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty is known for his imagination and sensitivity to lyrics, coupled with his uncanny sense of rhythm - and it’s most evident in this rendition.
