- The movie story deals with Four young men who re-locate from a village in India, to a big city. While attempting to access accomodation, they are repeatedly told that rooms will only be rented to married couples, not to bachelors. Frustrated at this, two of them disguise themselves as women, and pose as wives for the other two males. They are able to secure accomodation with the Mishra family. Complications arise when the two "women" fall in love with Mishra's two lovely daughters.

A hidden gem. Hrishikesh Mukherjee's masterful handling. One of the most convincing drag get-up in Hindi films ever. See how Biswajeet and Keshto Mukherjee look, amazing. No overbearing hamming as is common in similar plots. Mehmood is very unusual yet pleasingly restrained. One of the very likeable comedies. If only the music was a little better this would have become a popular classic like Padosan.
