I can never decide whether Starmer is stupid, he thinks we're stupid, or both.
Both :)
He thinks that you are stupid, I heard him say that to Reeves recently when I told him that he lost my vote, membership and respect when he betrayed democracy by imitating Big Brother as that was not a “How to…” manifesto but rather a statement against dictatorships.
Aaron implied that Labour staff would be processing asylum claims if they get into govt. That's stupid
@@carolinenewbold3989 that’s what the government should be doing with asylum claims…
hah
How will the country put up with 4+ years of Keir Starmer as PM.? He's nauseating.
"How will the country put up with 4+ years of Keir Starmer as PM.? He's nauseating." If there is one thing that the British people are used to, it is utterly repugnant leaders. They have voted for such people consistently.
Yeah let’s give the Tories another go!
@@Earhairy They didn’t vote for Theresa May, Liz Truss or Rishie Sunak though, in all fairness.
@@uhtredragnorson9930 Obviously not! But I’m just thinking ahead. Starmer has pitched his campaign on convincing the disgruntled Tories and the swing voters. In the predicted situation that he will win, he will already be massively unpopular on the first day. Imagine putting up with his nasal whine and his barefaced lies for a full term of office. The essential thing is to aim at achieving some kind of proportional representation once he’s there, to try to avoid this in the future. Unfortunately that’s not likely to be on his agenda and it’s clear that he hasn’t thought about doing much else for the country. He’s offering Tory-Lite, but unfortunately it’s the best realistic option that we have.
Vote Independent or workers party
it is hard to believe starmer is a human rights specialist
I love that you were disagreeing with each other. So refreshing to see positive discussions
Nandy says they can't spend our money bailing out the train companies by buying them... and yet all parties have very happily spent our money bailing out failed train companies, up 'til now...
Sir Saintly Starmer sounds like he is talking out of Mandleson’s arse.
Sir Satanly Starmer. The SSS.
The future of dating: I brush off the pile of beer cans and cigarette ash from my refurbished Motorola dating droid, screw in a few loose bolts, give it a quick wash down with a damp cloth, then send it stumbling out the door towards the romantic restaurant to meet the droid of the person I've matched with. I anxiously check my smartphone all night to see if the date was a success.
Ever seen that meme where everyone slaps there forehead .......that's starmer.
Doh !
Michael v Aaron on the impact of app dating. Finally some goodhearted debate from these two legends of media
Sir Kid Starver is more palatable if you play him at double the speed. Another bonus is that he stops talking in half the time👎
😂
Excellent.
Muting the sound and saying bollocks bollocks bollocks every time his mouth moves passes the time, quicker at double speed.
Just open a processing centre in France ffs
Or even in our own borders, like most other countries do
Blair... The bluest Red in history. Starmer? Purple?. blue at least certainly not red representing the working class.
Isn't that offshoring?
Brexit made sure we can’t, we “took back control”, it means we can’t just set up processing centres in EU countries.
Rutger Bregman talks about the difference in trauma between ww2 vets and Vietnam. It was the fact that too many ww2 soldiers were shooting above their enemies heads (they didn’t have it in them to kill), only around 20% even fired their weapons, most deaths were artillery or longer distance. By Vietnam they had more psychological aspects incorporated into basic training e.g. ‘kill kill kill’ drills. The fire rate was higher in Vietnam and the trauma of reconciling that with their humanity was what caused the ptsd
Also WW2 was the last time USA fought a just war. Vietnam was not supported by the public and soldiers coming home were aware they'd fought and killed for no reason.
I feel like the hosts have had more disagreement lately and it has made the shows very interesting.
1. Safe routes are as close as you get to limiting people smuggling. More importantly, this seems to be the longest running moral panic I've witnessed and still nobody is concerned about rich tax dodgers and their profound wealth extraction from the country that actually IS causing the problems people are blaming on immigration.
2. Dating apps can already get you a connection but their function is to extract money from loneliness. Michael, your position is a very privileged one - most of us are out in the cold.
3. Tech only does what we tell it to. Modern capitalism is built on inequality drivers, so the tech is too.
I really enjoyed the conversation about dating apps, I think it's part of a broader topic on human relations mediated by technology that doesn't get half the attention it deserves most of the time.
So, the AI is gona date for you, so you are free to do the important things, like pay taxes.
It saves you from scrolling through endless faces and wasting time chatting to people you're not compatible with. Or you can just not use the app? It's not dystopian. Chill.
@@Lewie_G That wasn’t my point, but never mind.
Really great dialogue between you both...bravi!
Listening to the british debate on immigration reminds me of a simular level of debate we had here in Danmark 25 years ago. Very naive and does not work.. In the end, the Danes thought.. division? not working!.. better to spend money inclusion than exclusion.. Good luck blighty!
Denmark invented the Rwanda scheme...
I love the idea the bumble founder was talking about...I'm utterly useless at online dating. I'm OK face-to-face, not great but ok. Online dating is a sewer, totally agree with your opinions on this and this insight is why I watch this channel over anything else. I honestly think online dating is one if not the the most dangerous thing for the future of humanity and I'm not being hyperbolic..
Keir is more Torre than Torres themselves
What a load of bull
@@uhtredragnorson9930 you care to elaborate?
Sounds like a speech from the Men In Black 😂😂😂
Aaron is absolutely smashed it here! Well said each and every point your knowledge is just amazing
Uk Asylum/refugee assessment centre in Calais?
Or a processing centre in france
100%... just baffles me how hardly anyone seems to mention this.
In addition, I live in Spain and, guess what, we have boats too. The rigmarole on this apparent British 'invasion ' is blatant propaganda
Brexit means we have no stipulation to do that anymore, not that Starmer would do something like that anyway, too much like common sense.
@@TC8787-yq7og the French still offered it. Its the returns policy we left
Worry not Britain won't be richer for much longer.
Can't eat money, gold, or silver. Every person on the planet is going to find this out very soon.
@@sculpy2758 yeah just like the Y2K bug was going to end society, and how the 2008 crisis was going to send us back to the medieval ages. Some of us have been around long enough to not buy into crazy internet conspiracies.
Within the "medium term" horizon for migration and logistics, it will probably become necessary to move people away from the typical "hot zones" during the warm season, so there's that. As the climate picks up, temperatures will become flat out deadly in places that were already kind of teetering on the edge of liveability. What's the local population supposed to do?
Michael ❤
Mike as per usual you're bang on the money. We talk to people, you miss a few messages because of work, friends, hobbies, you both get bored and then the whole thing starts all over again ad infinitum its exhausting.
Can we get Caitlin Johnston in an interview?
"The new protest movement is driving empire managers out of their go **amn minds, which means it's working & must continue."
CaitlinJohnston.
Just checked her out. Looks great
And Asa Winstanley.
Best description of Hillary Clinton ever Aaron!
If you're thinking of locating large numbers of immigrants in rural Scotland, you're going to have to create jobs for them and houses to live in. The reason the south of England is so crowded is partly down to internal migration from exactly those kind of places because of insufficient economic activity. If so, great! The opportunity for huge expansion of rural green energy production in Scotland, just requires investment. There obviously remains potential for more remote working so white collar work could be anywhere, not just a desk in London. And of course there is huge demand in the care sector, especially in rural places where demographic ageing is most acute (partly due to the brain drain to the metropol). Please keep housing affordable and pay the carers properly or that last bit might not work.
Scotland, the Siberia of the UK.
@@erikdalna211utter bollocks
@@squintydoodoo So politicians don’t frequently threaten to send refugees to Scotland as if it was unimaginably remote and largely uninhabited?
@@erikdalna211 I see your point... True. Sorry x
To be fair, the Scottish people and the Scottish government are pretty pro-immigration. Along with Iceland we're one of the few countries which is!
But yes, immigration needs to be met with housebuilding
Nandy was very defensive.
I am not the typical viewer of this channel, I am a bit of a centralist!!! 🤔However, an excellent point made that speeding up the decisions could provide an incentive to immigrants as 65 per cent of applications are accepted.
I'm so happy that in the past few months I came across this page all the work you guys do is amazing
It's always interesting to hear what Keir Starmer isn't going to do.
I love Novara Media. Aaron Bastani was on form on this one. The comments about the Sky News reporter made me laugh so much 😂
This is starmer's rwanda
Wot a wally.
Hello asylum seekers reading this, as far as I'm concerned you are welcome here.
Yes indeed. Me too.
imagine that we're still in the same position in 5 years, MI5 aren't going to look so good are they?
Hahaha the problem with dating apps is not that you have too much choice in need to be narrowed down. It is that 95% of matches are fake profiles with chat bots. AI isn't the solution, it is the problem.
Top 80% of women go for the top 20% of men.
Starmer's 'Command' force. his 'E;lite Force' this man sounds more like a Tory than the Tories, seriously. It is childich James Bond stuff but he means it.
Hilary is counting on getting her 100th Seamus Heaney award for babble from O’University.
I thank GOD that I’m an introvert, and have little interest in sex! Does EVERYTHING have to be commodified?
I appreciate the differing opinions with you guys
Thank you! I hadn't entirely clocked that very real aspect of living under sanctions!!
Bloomer tech: naahh they just want more data is all about data
Great as always fellas… happy to have you in this Day N Age
He's literally promising something that already exists, just slapping a new name on it.
We've had law enforcement collaboration with countries of departure targeting people smugglers since at least the 90's.
At the 29m 19s mark, it was hard to watch the bright orange Ompa lompa being interviewed on sky news.
There was so much orange on the screen, it hurt my eyes.
Since 1941? What about Suez Aaron? I think since the UK got nukes, we have to rely on the US delivery system for trident so since then
great, great show!
Great show, as always. Really enjoyed the conversation about dating apps. I can certainly see both sides
It’s Spring, not summer 😂
5hank your Micheal and aeeon😊
Great as usual 👌
Idk Imo, I think its way easier for men to use dating apps than women. I just feel like it’s super risky. But at the same time not using a dating app makes your world smaller. Also Twitter X is where happiness goes to die.
If you ever watch that "Hydraulic Press Channel.", you couldn't say it isn't creative.
Luis Buñuel would have loved one of those to play with.
I suppose after they've dealt with "the boats" in manners appropriate, the next big thing in Britain will be "stop the rain".
Are you absolutely certain that Keir Starmer is not a defective re-issue of Max Headroom?
Any talk of "stopping" people smugglers is, imo, a complete joke if you're not going to address the elephant in the room as to why these smugglers exist.
You don't need to be a genius to realise that if in order to apply for asylum/whatever, you have to be standing on British Isle soil, then people are going to attempt to stand on British Isle soil. This entire problem, people smugglers et all, would disappear completely if these applications were just processed in the nearest embassy as they should be. And it's important to point out that processing an application does not automatically mean accepting, so even a dumb Conservative hardcore anti-immigration pleb shouldn't have any problem with processing abroad, even if their immigration policy would be hardline rejection to 99% of those applications.
Honestly, that people continue to waste their time debating this red herring of a policy, while our politicians devote weeks of the year finding ways to waste our money solving a problem that could be immediately resolved by just running the government like it's meant to be run, is and of itself why we see nothing ever being done.
Excellent as ever
Hopefully Aaron will mention this (I'm typing this pre-Aaron response) ...
A effective measure to stop the boats is to have asylum offices on the continent and in areas where most people are coming from, so they can claim there without having to use the boats to get here to make a claim. However illegal it is, the smugglers are still running a business and if a large chunk of a businesses aren't available to them, the business will struggle to survive. Thus they'll prioritise other countries, rather than this one, so those looking to come here "illegally" will find it much harder to acquire the services of smugglers.
Would that stop it all, no, but it would substantially reduce it and thereby substantially reduce dangerous incidents in the channel and of course, provide substantially reduced "illegal immigration" figures, which makes for good political mumbo jumbo.
In the spirit of being contrarian, I do not see any problem with the Apple ad. It was very clear what they were trying to say and it wasn’t anti-art or some sh**
People should be free to move to any country they want.
Why has NM removed the super chats from the LIVE? Thanks.
Was hoping to see my comment!
Actually Aaron, most refugees were Albanian (until the UK deal with Albania) and Vietnamese, both unrelated to foreign policy.
My dad a socialist trade union shop steward came up with the MI5 idea last year
MI6, one digit better than the otherr one
The only way to achieve their immigration goals are to redistribute power, wealth & resources to poor people everywhere (inc. U.K.) , & to endeavour to fight & mitigate the multitude of environmental consequences of the climate catastrophe
I've always thought that our intelligence services would be able to help end the trafficking/modern day slavery that gangs impose on vulnerable people, but in the words of MLK it is love that's the only answer to mankind's many challenges
Love love love each other
Didnt lisa Nandy stand on the 2019 manifesto.Has she forgotten. Also i dont think she has been getting Starmers cancellation memos.
MI5 & MI6 trade operatives & there is cross over in their remits & areas of operation - The plot of next Bond film will be interesting.
Michael Fabricant...WTF is going on with that weird little Orangutan. I adore Orangutans ever since Every Which Way but Loose when I was an infant and he almost ruins everything
Wow! What a conversation. This is so flipping complex. Unless we just let those less fortunate come here.
Aaron is full of wisdom on this show.
He has a huge amount of knowledge about many things.
If the backlog is 95,000 and at present 66% of the claims are granted that means in a short period of time 60000 people will be accepted. Further more if these people throw away their documents how the failed applications be returned.
Unfortunately England finds itself in the same position as the us when picking their next leader....as i urged my american friends dont vote for either of the major parties if you wish to exact change🙏

0:41 the burp HELPPPP 😭😭
More like MFI given Starmer
8:14 what even is Keir Starmer?
Crap starmer is going to word vomit us to death once he's pm
The ONLY way to stop the boats is to provide safe routes.
Also, why on earth would Iran agree to a policy that basically says, "we know Iran is rubbish, come and apply to a UK centre in Tehran to get out"
Starmer will use the power of 'British Intelligence'...
Hey guys love the show as always
How come you never mention the number of Albanians on small boat crossings? I noticed they seem to be the only national group that's present on the small boats that you guys never reference during analysis.
An where does the funding for his new utopia police come from
As someone not living in the UK, it is striking to me how the debate on immigration has shifted and no one is even questioning anymore the idea that immigration is bad for the UK. It's all about efficiency, "humane" versus "inhumane", etc., without anyone raising their hand and saying "hang on, immigration is actually good for us!". Similarly, using anti-terror laws and MI5 to deal with people wanting to live in your country? What?? This is exactly what we were warning about 20 years ago when anti-terror laws were introduced, namely that they would not be limited to actual terrorism but would become a tool in the hands of an increasingly unprincipled state. Democratic, liberal society is falling apart before our eyes.
Well said. I've been saying this for so long. The dominant narrative (almost always Tory-generated) is never challenged. We NEED more immigrants. We always have done. The past successes of this country are almost always due to healthy immigration. We are a nation of immigrants. Not fashionable, but true.
Good idea
Sunglasses on for Michael Fabricant! 😱
Sir Brian Badonde at it again.
How have you never seen Black Mirror!!
Sharing a platform with NE? Er...
Peter Walsh also said World at One that there's nothing to suggest safe and legal routes would reduce numbers attempting to cross in small boats - is this guy an expert worth listening to or not?
Fear of missing out thinking someone else better will come along.
Without the Muslim vote he will need to rely more on the white British vote, not necessarily this time around (too large a majority) but in five years time. So his first term will see a lurch to the right, in order to secure the second term.
This 9:30 might actually be a position where starmer is right. The issue of not processing irregular migrants quickly enough is a problem across europe and the uk.
What is implicit in Starmers position is that we should keep the route to genuine asylum seekers open and accept them to the uk because this upholds the UKs committment to international protections for refugees and asylum seekers.
Detering the purely economic or nefereous migrants is a legitimate aim. Putting off asylum seekers is not.
As for trafficking/smuggling people, these are technichal terms which have no place in the debate other than being used to denote a general concept. Especially as many of the enablers are engaged in both trafficking and smuggling of people, arms and drugs and other taxable goods. They are not benign individuas just helping a brother out. Not at the fees they charge, or with the threats and abuse they issue to their "customers".
Lovely Michael. I only watch Novara because he is a sweetie.
Will Bond accept the mission..
I assume a lot of people will be voting green out of protest
29:41 Peter you've lost the news!
