We tried to find a TASMANIAN DEVIL at CRADLE MOUNTAIN

- We have been travelling around Tasmania for the last six weeks, and one of the things we really wanted to see is a Tasmanian Devil. We've searched high and low, but week after week, we still haven't seen one.
As our trip comes to a close, we visit the beautiful Cradle Mountain, and decide to visit Devils @ Cradle, a sanctuary where devils are bred, and research is being done into the devastating Facial Tumour Disease that has decimated devil numbers in the wild.

lived in Tasmania my whole life.
I'm 43 and will never move, it's an incredible place to live imho.
glad you enjoyed it!I
You got to see a Tassie Devil, yay!!! Those two screaming at each other over that piece of meat sound like me and the hubby going at it over dinner, haha 😂
Hahaha, it’s such an uncanny noise isn’t it?
Thanks guys for taking us along on your Tassie Tour...sorry it's over. Hopefully you'll be back to showcase the beautiful island again.
👍😍
We absolutely loved Tassie! We will definitely be back, but we’ve got a lot of exploring to do in the northern hemisphere in the next few years.
That brought back lots of memories.
Devils are vicious buggars. One minute they look cute and the next they're ripping off your foot!
We spent 56 nights in Tassie, avoided places we had been to previously and still didn't do it all.
It’s amazing isn’t it? Where was your favourite place?
10 years ago you could visit Cradle and only meet a handful of others on the main tracks at any time of the year. It's now much less crowded in the winter months only. This summer there seems to have been a major increase in tourist numbers throughout all of Tas, this has both good and bad aspects :)
I’m sure it is a blessing and a curse. Let’s just say we wouldn’t go in January next time, although we were so lucky with the weather.
So glad you finally got to see a devil, we live in Tassie and sadly haven’t seen a devil in the wild for many many years. When I was younger living on the West coast we had them around our house at night. Thank you showcasing our beautiful state ❤
So glad you locals enjoyed it. We loved Tassie and will certainly be back!!
I'm convinced! On my way!! . . .Soon.
You won't regret it. Tassie is amazing!
Loved the videos of tassie guys, you've shown me just how beautiful tassie is ❤
It really is Carly. Hope you get to visit there sometime soon.
Thankyou for your productions guys. I really appreciated that you took the lonnnggg low track to Wineglass Bay. Giggled and shivered as you dove into freeeezing waters. Cheers and gratitude from Qld. T. ❤❤
Thanks for watching Trudi, and glad you enjoyed the Tassie series. Hope you'll continue along as we head back north, and beyond!!
We lived in tassie for 18yrs,kayaked dove lake both day and night(mega dark),carried our 14ft kayaks up to crater Lake,Lake Lila, and up to lake wilks which is that small lake directly under cradle mountain-gotta tell you that hike carrying our 14ft 26kg kayaks was brutal but well worth it in the end.Glad you enjoyed Tas,I do miss kayaking around the many lakes and rivers and being completely alone at times.
We keep saying we’d love to get a kayak. I think it would have to be an inflatable one though
Wow - think this is one of my fave Nigel and Sue adventures for sure.
Cradle Mountain looked wonderful, even with the tourists !
As for the Tassie Devils - heard of them, but never seen. So fab
Also very jealous of you seeing platypus - on my bucket list.
Think we’ll be going to Tasmania!
Thank you so much for sharing
Oh you’ll love it!! Thanks for watching 🧡
Another great installment. I was last there in 2018 but do not recall the Devil Sanctuary. These is one near Port Arthur which I visited but it was not cheap. The Caravan park at Huonville has them there as well and they have free feeding every afternoon. Have fun in Victoria.
Thanks Bob! We did see the one near Port Arthur, but held out hope of seeing one in the wild. But it was not to be 😔
Thanks for watching!
Great visit to Tassie.. went there years ago and loved seeing the little Devils.. glad you found th Sactuary. :)
While we were sad not to see one in the wild, I don't think we would have ever seen the amazing interactions we were able to see in the sanctuary. And that's what made it awesome for us.
Loved your walk around Dove Lake, we were there about a month ago and walked in the drizzle and anti clockwise😂 Best way to avoid the crowd……We are however all tourists enjoying the beauty
That’s so true! We are all tourists. We were so blessed with the weather.
thanks for sharing. safe travels to you both. x
Thanks Cheryl! Glad you enjoyed it
I'm so glad you got to Devils @ Cradle for feeding time. Such an experience! When we were there (Dec 2020) it was freezing and sleeting! We had about 4 layers on so really enjoyed the talk and video inside in the warm 😉 It was an extra treat to see a couple of wombats waddling through the car park! Would have liked to have done more walks around Cradle Mountain but with 2 teens not enjoying the cold or exercise we literally did all the shortest walks! Hubby did go off by himself to the boat shed and wombat pool though, but the weather was grim. Really looking forward to a much longer trip sometime in the future,as we did a bit of a loop in 16 days and barely scratched the surface! Have taken note of some of your fabulous stops to add to the next itinerary 😊👌Cheers, Carla
Cheers Carla! That sounds like a tough time in the cold. We were so blessed with the weather.
We will have all our Tasmania travel guides up in our website n the next few months, so feel free to check that out and sign up for updates nigelandsueadventures.com
Thanks for taking me, I loved your travels. I am glad you finally saw a Tassie Devil!
Thanks for joining us! It was well worth the wait. We hope you’ll enjoy the next stage of our adventures too!
Sadly all good things must come to an end. Your van life journey has been such a joy to follow Nigel and Sue. Your last episode was enlightening and entertaining as always. It also made me a little sad as I do miss Tassie. It is an incredible place and I feel privileged to have lived there. Enjoy your time at your free camp, and we look forward to your new adventures. We will miss the Nigel dives though. Stay safe and happy. Coen and Jay
This is NOT the end of our Vanlife journey!! Nor is it the end of the Nigel Dive. Stay tuned for more crazy adventures to come !
@@nigelandsueadventures I thought that the van was for sale?
Enjoying ya Tassie vids guys! I live an hours drive from Cradle Mt and as a local I can honestly say I haven't been there in years, more than 5 I reckon. The place is that busy all the time now, it used to be great when you could drive your car to the Dove Lake car park and do things in your own time there. 👌
Yes, we were really confused as to the purpose of that monstrosity at the end of the road. Our mate Pete had told us about it, but it just made no sense to us at all! Glad you've enjoyed the series, thanks for watching.
Great place to come along with you all for a visit. Not sure of your actual schedule. Maybe Nigel is almost back from working? Had the van sold yet?
Yes Nigel has been back for a week now and we are a week away from being “home” in Brisbane. Van sale is progressing nicely!
A great series , I really enjoyed the look around Tassie , so much like NZ .
It is like NZ but different too. Have you been to Tassie? It's a great place in a van.
@@nigelandsueadventures It's on the retirement bucket list , only 2 years to go or one powerball .😎😎😜😜
@@peterhewitson71 Good luck with that (Powerball) haha
@@nigelandsueadventures I added a Nigel dive in to my Coast to Country video , all hail the king LOL
@@peterhewitson71 awesome!! Will check it out.
By crikey, it’s changed in the last 30 years!
Let me guess, much more crowded for a start?
I sensed your slight disappointment for Cradle Mtn with its onslaught of tourists, unfortunately the world is now on the move again and nearly every where is overcrowded and l hate it lol! Can folks just go back overseas for holidays hahaha 😊 Although Cradle Mtn had a lot of tourists, it is still a most spectacular place to visit. The ancient rock formations are extraordinary and l would love to see it one day when it's misting with rain, fog and low cloud, that would be very awesome and lm.sure less folks around too! 😂
That was probably the only negative about Tasmania, the crowds! We felt like it was more crowded there than anywhere else in the country!
@@nigelandsueadventures when l was last there, you could hardly see a soul anywhere you ventured, how time moves along so quick. It's no longer the last frontier!
@@Lee-astrololee sadly!!
And then there are the animals that people eat. 😢
Not all people eat animals 😉🧡🐷 🐄 🐓
