    Those last few minutes, with the music and all the fingers outstretched against the colours and smoke. Fucking hell, I've never seen a more perfect moment to encapsulate what this human experience is all about. It's like found footage from another world. Then you realise that humans are capable of this sort of magic.

    Man, Tim Smith’s approach to harmony is radical and entirely unique in rock!

    • @JohnShadeLIVES
      @JohnShadeLIVES 2 роки тому +8

      Yes. Entirely unique in rock, as well as in the whole of the rest of known music. It's a bold statement, I know, but I have yet to discover another composer who accomplished the levels of otherworldly magic that Tim did.

    What an accomplishment this song is. How was one person capable of writing so many unbelievable tunes? He cracked the code, and how lucky we are for that, because I doubt anyone else will do so in this lifetime. Tim Smith forever.

    This is just ridiculously powerful. There is not a note or word wasted, everything has purpose and power and meaning. I prefer this performance to the album version, it's absolutely feral and gorgeous. I bitterly regret never seeing Cardiacs live. I'm a musician myself, and in the late '90s/early 2000s I played a show at The Square in Harlow the night after Cardiacs had played, on the tour for Guns I believe. I remember the SM telling me that audience numbers were barely in double figures...unthinkable.

      I would be fine with Kavus doing vocals for it, even Jim could probably do it. Hell, I'd be happy if they just released the instrumentals. If nothing more ever happens with the "new" (I used quotation marks here since it's 12 or 13 years old at this point) then it's alright because Cardiacs already have a great catalog. If one day we do get something It would be very nice still

      Closer, I'd say, maybe, to the Beethoven of our generation? But even Beethoven wouldn't have been able to comprehend what Tim did. Not even Debussy, or Ravel, centuries after Beethoven, would have either. Tim was, and ever shall be, an absolute anomaly in all of music.
