Every time I listen a Cardiac's piece, at the end I ask me; "Well, and now? What can I hear that's so interesting, surprizing and crazy?" And I turn off the stereo..... Tim Smith, what a great genious you are.....
fuckin goldust!! before mtv and all that so very special to own or see for that matter.miss sheer brilliance of tims writing /how he took music to a new level ..not many got it though...I don't know how they lasted so long especially in the music industry full stop ,but going alone with a hand full of follwers all the way to new generations and couldn't of earnt that much after recording publishing etc...im a fan of 30 years and there music is the only which excite me and give me a buzz each time.
I first stumbled across them in 83, pre Bill Drake, Cawthra on keys, when they were dressed in army outfits with the band in white face paint and Tim in green facepaint, or it may have been the other way round! I arrived late at the 100 club for Here and Now and missed the first song, I got half way down the stairs, stopped dead in my tracks and said 'what the actual fuck!' My mates carried on and we ended in a comedy heap at the bottom of the stairs! The only band that has ever touched their genius is Major Parkinson
the last song... it's one I've never heard before. It seems to be the main riff/theme from the end of RES (Seaside version, from the same time period as this video) but this song isn't on any recorded albums. Anyone know the title? It's so great, it's like a louder version of the stuff they were doing in Mr. And Mrs. Smith and Mr. Drake.
It's known as The New General. There were a handful of fan produced rarities CDs, that's what it's listed as on the last track of disc 3. Goes into the 'my hope day is forever coming closer..' refrain from the end of RES'.

Don't worry. They won't be...despite being an awful band with a fat bassist. Needs a slap!
@@dominicseanmccann6300 and learn and how to plug a bloody base in ... sigh ....
Ahhh, was at this..missed last 65 bus back home.....
Finally video footage from this era that actually captures Tim Smith's character with all of his quirky twitches.
First saw them at stonehenge free festival, blew me away!
Just look at that happy pond jumping up & down. Bastards. It would still be 5 years until I would discover Cardiacs.
The best thing Jim has done live. 11:07
what was he thinking? Deserves to be punished for that
Indubitably.
Slap the fat bassist...
Yes I’m surprised he didn’t at least get a slap
Ooh Cardiacs, the precious.
nothing makes me as happy as finding a new Cardiacs video
0:00 A Little Man And A House (Seaside ver.)

there are any recordings of it (live or studio) in entirety? the clip abruptly ending kills me. and man, that song is GREAT!!!
Have a wander around youtube and have a look out for Cardiacs Stonehenge 1984, it should be on there.
couldn't find it on the Stonehenge 1984 clip. =(
You are correct, I was wrong, it has Hopeless and Hymn on it, but not New General. Give us your email address and I'll send you the mp3 I have.
Soo great!
the best footage on yous tube
What's holding Sarah's dress up?
That's a good question! I'm not sure sock glue existed outside of Japan in 1984, but I know double-sided costume tape did.
Laudation!
So that song was at least 4 years older than its release in an album?
