- We drafted the greatest failed wonderkids of all time last month and too much was left on the table, so with Margs, Lippy, Miles, Skits, Dazza, Specs and Tego we had to go back and finish a chapter.

Pogba’s only dubbed a failed wonderkid bc ppl think he could’ve been Zidane level but what Pogba achieved is some footballers dream.
If Pogba’s a failed wonderkid then so is a lot of players like Ozil who won barely anything after Real Madrid. You can say Coutinho is a failed wonderkid, you can sayAlexis Sanchez, Dybala is a failed wonderkid bc they could have acheieved more like Pogba. The list goes on
That’s the only reason I don’t like calling Pogba a failed wonderkid. He played a key part in a World Cup and was always regarded as a one of the top midfielders in the world. He should’ve been an all timer considering the talent level and his level at Juve. United killed his career and his time at France salvaged it a bit.
Ozil still showed levels over numerous seasons and had a World Cup. Just a shame how it ended at Arsenal but you can’t say he failed.
Coutinho was given up by Inter and sold for a couple million. He didn’t have a trajectory like Pogba or Ozil who kept getting better season by season when they were younger so didn’t have a buzz like that.
Sanchez and Dybala spent years as some of the best around and have trophies to back it up so that argument can’t be used for them also.
The whole argument is subjective because I can understand the Pogba decision based on pure ability and the hype when United got him.
They had players like Depay, James, Isco and Turan who reached levels that everyone thought they would but didn’t maintain it for a long period of time, where I wouldn’t consider it a failure but a disappointment.
On the other hand players like Pickford and Suso who had a little buzz around them but nothing mind blowing and were picked could easily be removed as Suso was sold by Liverpool despite him being a wonderkid and Everton picking up Pickford considering the the fact he was supposed to compete with the best in the world. Some would argue for and others against. Depends who you ask.

I’m not having James Rodriguez as a failed wonder kid. His trophy cabinet and individual accolades are too strong. He didn’t reach his potential but still had a great career.
