I'm with Ginger and Kennedy in this: both Violet and Pearl did know coming into this competition that those questions were going to be asked, like everyone else. If the roles were inverted, no-one would say anything. Fans just make noise for nothing because everyone wants to join the winner-side.

I think this is why Violet really won, because at the end of the day, after the critics and the fans, a drag queen just has to do what she feels is right for her. Violets confidence in herself and her desire to show who she is, is the reason she won season 7. That and her epic burlesque sequence at the finale.

Roxxxy, Jinx, and Alaska were asked to the same thing, and Jinx and Roxxxy both opted out of saying anything negative about their competitors, Alaska was the only one who stuck to the assignment and the judges revered her for it! Now while it is "sweet" they didn't feel the need to "put others down" it wasn't the assignment. This is a competition honey, I'm sorry. Ginger and Kennedy, however mean they be perceived, were honest about how they felt and why they believed they deserved to be in the Top 3. And it's not like they said anything they have not previously themselves told the other girls.
It's more so about their actions through out the season.
I love the old lady brigade because they pay homage to an older side of drag most younger enthusiasts don't really know, or care about. Pageant queens are DRAG HERSTORY, drag became big within the ball scene which is what your pageant queens are. You have to take notice for that and have a respect for that to call yourself a fan of drag. And most of those girls are not the nicest, during the competition. Kennedy and Ginger are not mean people, they are competitors, the compete! They do what is asked of them, (example this speech), and they execute the way they know how.
Katya really was keeping everyone else sane.

@HELLO! ART katya was never a part of the brigade, she never was mean to anyone and EVERY queen in this season had nothing but amazing things to say about her. She brought the careless and cheerful energy to the group even when she was having the hardest struggles, and despite being one of the most talented queens she was extremely humble always.

I'm a tad late but I wouldn't say unproblematic in Violet's case. She was my choice to win but she did go on a very anti-french tirade not long ago because she got kicked out of a club. She's grown now but she's not completely without her problematic moments.

Violet might be young, but when it comes to healthy self love everyone can really learn a LOT from her in that episode
I think it is so interesting that Katya seemed to have realized this about Violet pretty early on and voiced her admiration of it to Violet. I think it is a really great example of no matter what your age, you can always learn and grow from those younger than you. The young don't just learn from the older. To me Ginger and Kennedy never got that during the show, thus the animosity.

inorite, untucked really shows different sides to the queens. if i went through the entire season without seeing how violet was behind the scenes, i might've been against her, too. but untucked shows how real and genuine violet is whilst exposing how nasty and bitter kennedy and ginger were.

MorbidxAngel Pearl hasn't won solely on her own merits though. She won DESPYS, which they said her/Max won because of "team chemistry," meaning Max had a role in that, and she won conjoined, in which they said "Trixie outshined you." When you look at Ginger, Violet and Kennedy's wins, they were all individual wins in which they won solely because THEY did a good job (except for Violet's dancing win with Katya).
Also, Pearl didn't JUST have "one bad day," she wasn't good in shakesqueer, she wasn't good in Spoof, she wasn't good in Divine, and she was probably the worst in the lip syncing portion of the music video challenge. Pearl's done well in this competition, and I agree that people should stop bringing up week 5 as a reason she shouldn't win, but people need to stop acting like that was her ONLY bad time, and like she's been phenomenal since.

baixiaolang Yeah what you said is true regarding the challenges but you misunderstand and thought we used "one bad day" as she didn't perform well in the challenges. What we were saying was that bad day was the day she wanted to leave and give up. That's the point ginger was rehashing again. That pearl wanted to leave weeks ago. And while it's true she won 2 challenges being paired up with other queens she still managed to pull out that deserved win with max the day she wanted to leave. And I thought Pearl was stronger than Max that week in the actual challenge but it was apparent they both earned that win with Max creating most of the material (when pearl was gone) and Pearl being able to deliver it in the hardest week she had on the show.
I'm still obviously team Violet.

pearl isn’t “pissed off”, ginger. she’s hurt. ginger and kennedy were nasty this season. obviously they’ve changed and they’ve grown since this was filmed, but during filming of this season ginger and kennedy were typical mean girls. ganging up on the “new girls” because their style is different than theirs. the irony is kennedy’s infamous “fuck my drag right?” line is so hypocritical considering how nasty she was to all of the “new school” girls for not having “valid drag”. it was ridiculous. and then ginger saying that pearl and violet being upset “proves that they’re not ready to be the next drag superstar”. so unbelievably rude. their whole point is that you shouldn’t have to tear them down in order to lift themselves up. they could’ve said “i’ve won more challenges than _____” or “i feel as though i’m more polished than ______” instead of ginger’s “violet has a short temper and pearl was gonna quit so neither of them deserve to win. ONLY kennedy or i deserve to win” and then kennedy saying “ginger and myself are the only ones who are ready”.

I mean, if Ginger is on Allstars again this season, then we shall see. But, I don't know if it is a 'growth' thing. This whole episode kind of shows how people want to say what they want and then just regret it after and not address what their words did. I respect Kennedy for being all "This is my opinion, you don't like it, meh" but Ginger gave excuse after excuse and, hon, it wore on me. Do not say you are someone's best friend, that they will be in the top three, that they are so creative and amazing and then, when it counts, walk out there and put them down and only highlight their moment of weakness. Ginger is beautiful, she is talented and I think she dislikes herself more than she lets on. But, she failed me in this episode and I've never really been able to get over that. If you win something because you're willing to put others down and stand atop them after the bus has done run them over, then at least do it proudly girl. Sometimes, I worry this show serves more to force our girls apart than it does to bring them in the spotlight. However, and I know this damn response is long as hell, lol... I hope Ginger surprises me. I don't know why I feel so strongly about why she acted, but I was a big fan and then... I just wasn't anymore.

-Violet wears corsets all the time considering it is her drag style 60's/50's drag and helps push that.
-Violet doesn't trow as much shade as she did at the beginning, plus she holds it what she has to say when everyone elts is bringing her down. She has changed the most on the show.
-Violet brought it every week and tore apart the competition, not once she she have lip synced.
-Violet understands A LOT more than she did at the beginning, and has grown to the part, everything she was told she interpreted it into her life, if you say Violet hasn't learned idk what you are talking about.
I personally think Violet has earned the crown for everything she has brought to the table.

She's what the character of the transgender woman in "Priscilla, Queen of the Desert" would have called "A bloody good little performer" and not much else. I agree with Violet's statement about how drag is an art not a competition. As a dancer, my competition is not another girl in my class, it is not my teacher, it is me. I am my biggest competition. I am constantly trying to be a better me. Violet is right about drag. It shouldn't be a competition. It's art...beautiful art.
right. RPDR is a competition , not a pageant. Even if it is a competition, i feel as if it's more of a showcase of talent and the art of drag. It's about all these different kinds of drag coming together competing for the same crown. America's Drag Superstar should be open minded to any kind of drag and understand that classic pageantry isn't the only kind of drag. I mean, how many pageant girls won the Drag Race? Of course not all pageant girls are like this, but most have been.

Violet is actually the quiet person among them as Ginger said, she may be bitchy but she's never fake, just socially awkward. Meanwhile Ginger kept talking behind people's back. It's so vindicating that Violet won with old bitches putting her down every episode saying "this is not a sewing competition". Actually as a viewer these are the challenges I look forward most, because creativity is so important in drag.. S7 actually reminds me of the bullying of Jinkx in S5, "this is not a comedy competition", Violet is just a much more confident fiercer queen she will talk back if you wrong her, she may be socially awkward, misunderstood but honestly still deep inside a nice person.
