Hi Gatik, thanks for your question. I currently don't sell my video lectures separately. They are part of the overall Academy program and work best with the study tools I provide as a whole.
CPA here. While I think the CMA/CGMA route is more appropriate content-wise for accountants who plan to go into industry than a CPA, employers overwhelmingly favor a candidate with a CPA over every other credential, including an MBA. I dont think you can go wrong with a CMA but know that a CPA will have an edge over you in the job market.
This might sound really mean, but The CMA sounds much more interesting and fulfilling. Taxes, auditing and regulation are very important, but sound boring as hell. Going through and checking to see if the financial statements are accurate as a career? Although extremely important, sounds so boring and unfulfilling. With the CMA, you’re helping make strategic decisions for the company to help them grow and improve. That personally sounds much more fulfilling.
Hi. That sounds like a great path! A Masters in Accounting and Finance that aligns with the CMA curriculum will thoroughly prepare you for the challenges and opportunities in the field of management accounting.
Thank you for this, I'm in the path that I want to become a CPA but I'm failing in my studies right now because I find its very hard now interested in Management Accounting.
I am a former CMA? What courses are you failing...exactly? I am not sure CMA is the easy way out. I think it really depends on your interests and aptitudes.
The CMA exam isn't easier than the CPA just to put it out there. The content coverage is different with some overlap. When it comes to deciding which one to go for, my suggestion is to get clarity first in your career objectives. Then choose the designation that will help you get there. Plus there's no rule that says you can only choose one or the other. Many accountants hold both :)
I took both exams. I think it’s also important to note that the CPA not only requires a bachelors but 150 hours of accredited college credit. Of those 150 hrs, 36 hours need to be in accounting courses. Also the CPA exam does cover some parts of the CMA exam, mainly in BEC, FAR and some audit. I chose to stop pursuing the CPA because I work in industry and hated public accounting
@@victoriagreen1726 Both were tough. I would have to say Part 2 which i ended up scoring higher on than Part 1, was shocked. Practice Practice Practice and do tons of MCQs and make sure you are averaging 80-85% consistently on them and you should pass. Good luck.
You mentioned that you have to have a Bachelors degree to become a CPA and the truth is that you have to have a Bachelors to sit for the exam plus an additional 30 credit hours to become licensed.
Hi Nathan. That's one of the best video I could find on CMA. I am an MBA graduate from finance (from India) and now looking to pursue CMA from Canada. Can you please make a video on the 'Management Gateway' stating what pattern would I have to follow after availing exemptions of being an MBA.
Thanks for your feedback. Glad to hear the video was insightful. To earn the CMA certification, all candidates need to pass the exams and fulfill several requirements. There are no exemptions for MBA holders.
Both CPA (Certified Public Accountant) and CMA (Certified Management Accountant) are highly respected and valuable credentials in the field of accounting. The choice between them depends on your career goals and interests. CPA focuses more on auditing, tax, and financial reporting, whereas CMA focuses more on financial management and strategic decision making. Consider the industries and roles you want to work in and research the requirements for each certification to determine which one aligns better with your aspirations.

I'd say the US CPA is one of the most prestigious degrees one can pursue. It's the ultimate accounting(financial) degree, period. Even here in India, having a US CPA almost guarantees a job in the big 4.
Wouldn’t really say it’s the “ultimate” financial qualification, that without question would be the CFA. The CPA is the gold standard accounting designation for accounting in North America, for sure, but it doesn’t give you an edge over other designations in their specific territory (for instance a CPA won’t have the edge over ICAEW member in the UK, even though the qualification would be recognized, they’d prefer ICAEW CA designation because it provides a better understanding of UK tax law/accounting standards) at the end of the day it’s a great qualification, one that can open MANY doors, but I wouldn’t say it’s at the very top of financial designations.
I am from Guyana, South America. I am wanting to take the CMA. How can I go about doing so? I have a masters in International Business but no accounting experience.
The CMA journey can be confusing, at first. To help clarify all the steps, I’ve written an article to help candidates like you understand the entire process step by step. Here it is cmaexamacademy.com/how-to-become-a-cma-in-just-over-6-months/ref/nathan/
Great question! It really depends on your career goals and what you want to achieve. A CMA (Certified Management Accountant) certification is great for those looking to specialize in management accounting, while an MBA or a Masters in Accounting degree is more comprehensive and covers a wider range of business topics. Consider what you want to focus on and what will best serve your career aspirations before making a decision.
I’d like to become a bank examiner. My thought is to take in pass the CPA then after 4 to 5 years take the CMA to move into management your thoughts? Thank you.
Hi. Taking and passing the CPA before obtaining the CMA can be a good strategy to become a bank examiner. The CPA will provide you with a strong foundation in accounting and auditing, and then the CMA can help you develop management skills. It's a solid combination to advance in your goal of becoming a bank examiner, and later into managerial accounting.
I am really afraid taking any accounting courses because im afraid that i will fail. im currently finding a course that can go with marketing and managerial field maybe management accounting will do for me. I hope this course will give a lot of job opportunities aside from just accounting jobs.
I have an awesome resource that’ll give you a lot more information about career and salary potential as a CMA. Check it out here cmaexamacademy.com/certified-management-accountant-salary-in-the-usa/ref/nathan/
I have done both tax accounting and staff accounting and I just took a new staff accountant role that is heavy on cost accounting and inventory management and helping this start up figure out manufacturing cost. I have a CPA prep program but have gone back and forth between the two designations for a year or two. I have found that not many people are familiar with a CMA and many jobs 'desire' a CPA. Do you see that as a problem for career advancement and the future? I do feel CMA is a better fit for me but am concerned about the marketability of the designation.
In short, the CMA is a fantastic designation for management accountants. For professionals looking to work in taxation and audit, CPA is the way to go. Read this in-depth article on job opportunities for CMAs to determine if it's a good fit for you: cmaexamacademy.com/cma-careers/
I just started a controller position in May. I have a great mentor who is a CPA. I had planned on getting my CPA license and even bought a study course. I'm reconsidering and leaning now toward the CMA certification. I don't plan on changing career courses. Would the CMA be best for me?
Hi Margo, congrats on your new position! I remember when I worked as a Corporate Controller. Loved it! Get ready for a great ride :) If you don't plan to work in taxation or auditing but rather in managerial accounting, then the CMA is a great choice! This is why I chose this designation over the CPA license. It really comes down to the career you see yourself in long term. Choose the designation that best aligns with it. Hope this helps.
My first choice when I entered college is CPA however I consider taking CMA because of its global accreditation but then I still took up CPA and it stress me out...the course is so hard...and I am struggling on my decisions.
Hi Valerie, I totally understand. It's a tough choice. It boils down to the type of career that you want long term. Once you're clear on that, choose the designation that best aligns with your vision. If you want a career in management, opt for the CMA. If you want a career in taxation and audit, opt for the CPA. Having said that, there's no rule that says you have to choose only one. You can do both throughout your career. Just start with the one that interests you the most.
My question is which one is less stressful, and have more work/life balance and more free time, and where I can work remote? I know I wanna do private accounting regardless seems less hectic and less stressful less tight deadlines but I am curious.
Hi, I have an Advance Diploma in Business Administration and Ive been working as an Accountant for past 4 years. My queation is that can i still do the CMA or not?
Marii, there are several requirements before a candidate can become officially CMA certified. Here’s my article on this topic: cmaexamacademy.com/cma-certification-requirements/
And also I heard cpa gives you a chance to start your business more. Can you still do this with a CMA if you decide to do that in the future? I guess I'm looking for more freedom and options to call shots on things for myself and not having to rely on one place per say. I've already graduated and I know I enjoyed cost accounting more than any other of the accounting clases.
@@Cmacoach what are your options usually like what kind of business do CMAS do? And cma usually have the same job opportunities in the private selector as cpa right? I can either work in a big corporation or go more small business if I want the low stress more chill work environment but maybe not the 150-200k pay. Money's not really everything to me I'd like to have a good balance

Hey Nathan, I want to clarify a query with regards to CMA , is that should someone presue the course who has limited exposure in Accounting work on a day to day basis, but wants to grow his / her career in Financial Management.
Hey Supratim, yes absolutely. I chose the CMA to help me grow in my career and make it into management accounting. Most candidates do it for similar reasons.
Hey, Thanks for the useful video. I've been working in the AP & AR domain for the past 6 years and recently did my diploma in Finance. I really want to go for CMA. Will that align with my previous experience?
Yes it does because it's accounting experience. There are several requirements before a candidate can become officially CMA certified. Here’s my article on this topic: cmaexamacademy.com/cma-certification-requirements/

Hi. CMA educational requirements can be fulfilled in two ways: 1. Earn a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university 2. Have a professional certification Also, CMA does not require you to have a bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting. But your degree must come from a regionally accredited or Distancing Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC) accredited university or college. You can learn more about all requirements here: cmaexamacademy.com/cma-certification-requirements/

Can obtaining both CMA and EA licenses be as beneficial to obtaining a CPA? I know you still can't sign off on auditing reports, but you can still be considered a Tax Professional.
Jay, CPAs are also the only ones who can sign tax returns on behalf of others. If that's something you want to do in the future, an EA license wouldn't be enough.
Hey Coach, Im currently working in a big 4 Firm as an External auditor and leaning more towards CMA. Please guide me or correct me if my leaning is wrong. Thanks for you top tier content. Welling to learn more from u.
Sir I have a good question. Perhaps its bit out of context .Even am interested in the field of management accounting financial management statistics and thinking of CMA usa. Post CMA qualification thinking of starting own business venture ( preferably 5 star hotel) and become finance director of it. Will CMA usa qualification guarantee in achieving the same provided if I have good knowledge in cost accounting financial management statistics probability etc.? Sorry what I meant was can cpa CMA qualification with good financial modeling and solid business plans attract the investors to invest on big business even if I don't have money of my own? If possible can you respond? Thanks
Hi Anirudh, capital investments for a hotel business and business planning is beyond the scope of what this channel is about. Sorry that I'm unable to provide you with a clear answer.

Hi Sir can you please recomend me which is best with acca , cpa usa or cma which help me to booat my career i want to work in top companies in Middle east so which certificate have good value in Middle east countries Thanks
Hi. It depends on your goals and the field you want to work in. If you are interested in management accounting and strategic decision-making, CMA may be a better fit. If you are looking for a career in public accounting and auditing, CPA may be a better choice. I wrote an article on my blog about both certifications. Hello. I really want to pursue my career in finance, but i am not sure which course is the best for the finance field. Hope you help me with this. Thank you
It depends. Is your consulting around tax strategy, audit and tax returns? If so, the CPA is a better fit. If it's around managerial accounting and advisory services, the CMA is a great fit.
I am finishing up my bachelor degree in business and I worked for two companies in the accounting department I was doing the payroll cash budget etc but not sure which one to choose. I am very good good with numbers and I know my way around excel .
Dear Nathan, I'm thinking of taking CMA. Currently I have 4 years of work experience as an assistant-accountant with a small firm in the Netherlands. Is this sufficient to comply to the 2 years of required work experience? Thanks in advance for your answer.
Hi AA, that's a great question! It depends on the exact work you do. Compare your current responsibilities to the list here: cmaexamacademy.com/cma-certification-requirements/#experience to determine if it meets the criteria. Remember that candidates have up to 7 years after passing the exams to earn their work experience so even if you don't have the necessary experience today, don't let that detract you from achieve your CMA.
I am a Senior in my last semester. I do not plan on getting my CPA at the moment but want to make my major worth the work, which is why I am interested in getting my CMA. How does the work experience apply in my situation, can you provide any insight. I have worked as an acct tutor and had some internships.
Guadalupe, the IMA provides a window of 7 years for candidates to fulfill their 2-year work experience requirement. It's fantastic that you're planning to study for your CMA exams now as that will set you apart from peers as you enter the workforce.

Hey Nathan, i have a simple query that do we get a time span of 7 years to fulfill the work experience after completing both the parts of cma exam or just after completing one part ?
Yes you can. You'll have up to 7 years after passing the exams to build your 2 year work experience requirement in order to get officially CMA certified.
Hello sir, am currently pursuing b.com first year in India and I would like to do CPA. Is it too early to start preparing for the exams right away? Around 3 years of preparation isn’t a necessary? Please do guide me on it sir
I'm having a really hard time deciding which career path I want to take both cpa and cma sound great but how do I choose what will be best for me lol I know that's a difficult question to answer but I'm currently in school for accounting and I know that I do want to pursue either or both is really great.
Well that's true I haven't thought of that lol but for beginners sake which one should I take first especially for me not having any experience with accounting would you recommend to take first ?
Hi Ashley, it comes down to personal preference. Do you want to start your accounting career working in audit, taxation and compliance? If so, go for the CPA. If you want to aim for a management accounting role, opt for the CMA first.
Do you want to work in auditing, taxation and compliance? If yes, then choose the CPA. If you want to work in management accounting, opt for the CMA instead.
Both are difficult exams, but with the right study framework you can do it. I think exam difficulty shouldn't drive your decision but rather which designation aligns the best with your career objectives.
I think the comparative difficulty of each exam depends on one's aptitude. Disclaimer: I have only taken (and passed) the CMA exam (in its 2009 format). If you're good at math, I assume CMA would probably be done somewhat more smoothly than the CPA exam. I assume there's less "memorization" for the CMA exam and I know quantitative reasoning went a long way with me. Of course - you still need to put in the study hours to pass. Even though I have not taken the CPA exam, I have seen practice questions. It appears to not be as mathematically inclined as the CMA BUT probably has more rigid memorization required to pass. So if you're not particularly comfortable with math, I'd say the CPA might be a less daunting challenge for you? But again, take what I say with a grain of salt since I haven't actually taken both exams!
Hello, I am a US Tax professional with 10 years of experience in tax compliance from India. I am really confused if having a CMA certification at this point of my career will help me to change my career towards management accounting role. Is it worthy to take the shot for CMA certification? The CMA certification seems to be more interesting to me but I have also heard about the CFA certification. Just curious about your thoughts on the CMA vs. the CFA. Thanks!
John, in short the CFA is ideal if you want to work in investment management and the CMA for corporate managerial accounting. Both are great options. It just depends on the career path you're aiming for.

Hi Coach, I have an associate degree in accounting and I’m looking to get the bachelors degree. If I pass in the 2 CMA exams how much time i have to get the bachelors degree?
Great video! I am an Accounting student who is trying to decide what route I should go towards. I am leaning towards CMA, but I am wondering; Do I need two years of work experience before I sit down for the exam? Or can I get my experience after I take the exam?

Hello sir..., I have plans to do cma usa first and then cpa usa and later on after I get into regular working after practice of both cpa and cma usa while I am doing the work I have plan to take an MBA from abroad distantly... so at last I will be a CMA USA , CPA USA , MBA... Is it a good decision...? So that I will have a chance for a better package nd I can work in variety of segments .... Or only 1 of these is enough? Instead of all 3 (cma, cpa, mba)?..
It depends on what your career goals are. If one of those designations on your list is not relevant to the work you'll be doing or to the career you want to have, it'll not be worth the investment. Think about what YOU want to do as a professional, then choose the designation that will help you achieve that goal. For example, if you want to work in management accounting, the CMA is the gold standard. If you want to work in taxation and audit, then the CPA is the gold standard. Hope that makes sense.

It depends on the career you're looking to build in Canada. Based on that criteria choose the designation that suits you best. I have many students from Canada studying for the CMA exam because they want to work in managerial accounting, not in taxation or audit.

CPA here. While I think the CMA/CGMA route is more appropriate content-wise for accountants who plan to go into industry than a CPA, employers overwhelmingly favor a candidate with a CPA over every other credential, including an MBA.
Hey Mike! It's great to hear from you man. Glad to know you're alive my friend.
I appreciate the extra notes you mentioned. Def super important!

Thanks and no problem, always love listening to your content. Would love to see a video on CMA vs CGMA.
Absolutely! It's in the queue :)
Mike D Which exam did you find to be tougher?
@@victoriagreen1726
Both were tough.
A bachelor's degree is just one of several requirements needed to get licensed.
I've heard these acronyms before, but I never really knew the difference. Thanks for making the distinction.
Happy to help!
Do we need to be a CPA to be management accountant? Why and why not?
Excellent video! I definitely don't want to go through the CPA route but I wasn't sure exactly what CMA was. This definitely helped me out a lot! :)
I'm here to educate my friend. Glad you found the video helpful. Thanks for watching!
FINALLY U SAY SIR WHICH IS BEST US CPA OR US CMA ?? PLEASE TELL MEE
Great clarification on the two and which one is better! Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
I have not received the cheat sheet yet. Followed all the steps.

You clearly explained the difference between the two! Thanks for sharing
Glad it was helpful!
I am from Guyana, South America. I am wanting to take the CMA. How can I go about doing so? I have a masters in International Business but no accounting experience.

One more question. If I go for the CMA should I get my MBA or Masters in Accounting Degree?

Do you do e file?
I just started a controller position in May. I have a great mentor who is a CPA. I had planned on getting my CPA license and even bought a study course. I'm reconsidering and leaning now toward the CMA certification. I don't plan on changing career courses. Would the CMA be best for me?
Hi Margo, congrats on your new position! I remember when I worked as a Corporate Controller. Loved it! Get ready for a great ride :)
If you don't plan to work in taxation or auditing but rather in managerial accounting, then the CMA is a great choice!
The CMA has merged with the CPA canada. If we choose the Finance/Performance management track in the CPA program, does that cover the CMA part?
You'll want to compare the topics tested in both exams. Here are the topics for the CMA:

My question is which one is less stressful, and have more work/life balance and more free time, and where I can work remote? I know I wanna do private accounting regardless seems less hectic and less stressful less tight deadlines but I am curious.
Which course should FP&A professional should go with? Is it CPA or CMA?
If I were in FP&A, I'd opt for the CMA.
Sir I'm confused, I'm from India and currently working in a regulatory organisation..I need your guidance whether i should persue CPA or CMA
Would be best to discuss with your direct supervisor or HR as to which designation will help you excel in your career in that organization.
Corporate life and management is what I'm leaning towards. CMA is for me.

Do accountants really work 80 hour work weeks all year?
I don't believe all year but in seasons.

Thanks for your question. It depends on what type of business you want to start.

For CMA, is bachelor's degree on accounting or business required , or any Bacheler's degree will count ?
Hi. CMA educational requirements can be fulfilled in two ways:
1. Earn a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
2. Have a professional certification
Also, CMA does not require you to have a bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting.

Hello there, CMA Part Two covers a lot of finance topics.
I’m looking to open my own business and offer consulting for small businesses. Would a CMA or CPA be more appropriate.
Would you like to work in managerial accounting? If so choose the CMA. If you prefer to work in taxation, audit and compliance, choose the CPA.
Bsma can be a CPA? Or there's a need to shift course?

Do you want to work in auditing, taxation and compliance? If yes, then choose the CPA. If you want to work in management accounting, opt for the CMA instead.
Which is more difficult guys CPA or CMA? please help me i have anxiety now for this two choices

The CMA journey can be confusing, at first. To help clarify all the steps, I’ve written an article to help candidates like you understand the entire process step by step. Here it is cmaexamacademy.com/how-to-become-a-cma-in-just-over-6-months/ref/nathan/

Which has more opportunities? Why always they say that the CPA is more recognised?
Rabih, both provide great career opportunities. If you don't plan to work in taxation or auditing but rather in managerial accounting, then the CMA is a great choice! This is why I chose this designation over the CPA license. It really comes down to the career you see yourself in long term. Choose the designation that best aligns with it. Hope this helps.
Hey , I am going to relocate to Canada next year , and i hold a degree of CIMA , i would want to know If US CMA is better to start or CPA Canada ? and if i start with Canada CPA will i get any exemptions for the same ? and which is more valuable in Canada ?
It depends on the career you're looking to build in Canada. Based on that criteria choose the designation that suits you best. I have many students from Canada studying for the CMA exam because they want to work in managerial accounting, not in taxation or audit.
Great walkthrough on the differences!
Glad you enjoyed it
please do a video on cma vs mba finance.
Absolutely! Working on it :)
Hey there coach! I'm from India n have cmplted 10th this year! Many of 'em suggested to go for CMA; CPA after 12th! N if I'm already planning to go into one of these ...what is the stream I choose for 12th?
It depends on the type of work you want to perform. Once you're clear on that, choose the certification that'll best fit your needs.
@@Cmacoach thankyou coach!!
Hello sir
If I take coaching of US CMA , is it possible to cover everything of BEC and FRA of CPA? If not everything cover ,so how much cover( in %)
Any similarities between CPA and CMA syllabus?
Please answer sir, I am totally confused right now.
I think it'll require a bit of research on your part to compare the content outline of both designations. Here's the CMA content outline of each exam part: cmaexamacademy.com/cma-part-1/
cmaexamacademy.com/cma-part-2/
Compare them to the CPA exam parts to help you determine where the overlap is.
I heard that CMA requires 2-3 years of work experience before getting the qualification. I want to do BBA+CMA but since it's mostly business focused, what kind of job could I do after bba that would satisfy the requirements?
Hi Jennifer, that's a great question! I've put together a free resources that explains in detail all the requirements, including job types: cmaexamacademy.com/cma-certification-requirements/ Check it out. I think you'll have all your questions answered :)
@@Cmacoach Thank you for your response. I have a few more questions though if you don't mind me asking.
1. Since CMA is accounts related, will the accounts I learn while doing BBA be helpful to me in anyway? Or will I have to completely depend on a seperate coaching academy? I'm not planning on specializing in finance btw.
2. I heard there's CMA and CIMA, other than the number of papers is there any other reason why CMA would be a better choice then CIMA?
Thank you so much for your time 😄
hello i just wanna be a good financial accountant what do i need
Earning a professional accounting certification like the CMA is a great way to upskill.
Maybe I am more interested in CMA
Hi. That's great to hear! If you're leaning towards CMA, it can be a fantastic choice. The CMA certification is highly respected and can open doors to various roles in corporate finance.
I have an awesome resource that’ll give you a lot more information about career and salary potential as a CMA. Check it out here: cmaexamacademy.com/certified-management-accountant-salary-in-the-usa/ref/nathan/
Hii coach. I plan to be a CPA first before becoming a CMA. May i ask what are the requirements before I can take the cma exam
Great question Near! Here's an in-depth article that'll answer your question: cmaexamacademy.com/cma-certification-requirements/
My undergrad is Bachelor of Arts, now I'm planning to switching to MBA - Accounting, and at the same time going for CPA,CMA...is that possible or what do you advise?
I would advice to tackle one at a time, either MBA or CMA/CPA. Tackle the one that aligns with your career goals the best.
@@Cmacoach sure, that is great. Thanks.
I'm an IT graduate and I'm doing my MBA I'm doing well in my school and I would like to learn more about accounting, because I feel that I'm interested to continue my career in business management accounting and finance, so what shall I do?
Thank you
Hi Mona, the first step is to learn the basics of accounting so taking Accounting 101 and 102 courses will help you with that. You can also buy/rent fundamental of accounting textbooks if you prefer to learn at your own pace.
Hi Coach, is it true that if you passed exam for CPA, you're only a CPA for that country? Unlike CMA, you are internationally credited as one?
Hi Lav, tax laws vary by country and even by state within a country. So that's why the CPA license is regional, not global.
