yes, that's him. as far as I know he was the first underground rapper in kpop (a rapper who trained to become an idol, instead of a typical situation of an idol who sings not good enough and is therefore trained to rap).
moreover, TOP (low voice rapper) and G-Dragon (high voice rapper) started the trend of having a contrast of high voice - low voice rappers and now almost every group has at least 2 rappers with contrasting voices.
I would say T.O.P. is the second underground rapper to become a mainstream idol. The first is most likely Miryo from the girl group Brown Eyed Girls - she debuted in March 2006, a few months before T.O.P. There was a lesser known idol group called D.Bace that debuted back in 2001 - they were hip hop Kpop and were around for about a decade, and most of their members came from the underground rap scene.

GDragon coming back and whether you want to think of him taeyang and daesung as big bang without top and seungri theyre members and the mama performance was epic. GD being back is enough to bring big bang up it's both top and gds comeback.

as someone who has been a kpop fan since 2014 I am so happy that squid game season two is bringing a lot of newer people to give kpop a chance because its so much more than what meats the eye. Kpop has every single genre you can imagine as rap, rock, ballad, pop and more. Glad you enjoyed this iconic song!

Enjoyed your reaction. Big Bang is 2nd generation, BTS is 3rd gen. Big Bang did consist of 5 members,( GDragon , Taeyang, Daesung, Seungri and TOP, unsure if correct order) now 3. G Dragon (leader, pink/red hair in mv) Taeyang, ( fist person in mv and has pink hair) and Daesung ( the anime character, bangs you commented on). T.O.P. And Seungri are not currently with Big Bang.
They debuted 2006 ( will be celebrating their 20th anniv in 2026 and have promised something special). Their fandom is called VIP's. They actually toured the US in 2017 right before they enlisted for Korea's mandatory military requirements and roughly got out right before COVID.
About 2 years ago Taeyang came out with an album. One of his first songs Vibe ( feat Jimin BTS) then Shoong feat Lisa Blackpink. BTS are huge fans of Big Bang. Taeyang was also a guest on Suga Suchwita you tube show. Taeyang even brought Suga Nike sneakers gifted from G Dragon.
In November G Dragon released a song POWER you should definitely check out. All three preformed at the MAMA 2024, also a must watch. G Dragon preformed an older song, then Power, then a brand new, first time heard Home Sweet Home feat Taeyang and Daesung. then they preform BANG BANG BANG and Fantastic Baby, make sure the live includes all the songs, I've seen someone react to just the last two. This return is such a big deal, they have not preformed together in 7 years.

@ My deepest apologies for not mentioning Seungri. That was an error on my part. Not as an excuse, I just know very little about him. My daughters have been huge fans since 2010 and I’ve enjoyed Big Bang but until recently I only had a few songs on my playlist, then when the solo projects came out I added those.. If TOP had not been in Squid Games recently I would not have mentioned him either, not because of any negative reason, just giving info I know w/o really bringing up their past. I do not know the details and normally I only discuss the 3 that are current now, because I know more info. So again I’m sorry if I offended you. I’m super excited for their return and saddened that the other two are not present. Honestly my goal is to spread the word about them and get people hyped. This is a big deal.

When BigBang debuted (2006), KPop had their own "standards". But G-Dragon, the leader of BigBang (the guy with the red hair) doesn't want to follow that standard. He started breaking all the rules and boundaries, and on that journey him received a lot of harsh criticism. But thanks to that, K-pop is becoming increasingly well-known internationally.
You know, to create a whole new standard in the industry, you need someone who brave enough try new things, take all the risks and learn.
No one but G-Dragon (GD) along with his group, BigBang, was willing to take that role.
Trust the process, the more you learn about this group, especially GD, the more you'll see how amazing they are. (Well, except that one member i guess?) They've been through upside down, a lot. But they are still relevant today.

Bigbang has one of the biggest influences on the entire kpop industry . They are the blueprint of groups today . One things they changed was rap . Before Bigbang there were no real rappers in kpop. The company would train a member to do some rap . This is why korean rappers didnt had respect for idol rappers. Bigbang changed all that . TOP was coming from the underground clubs and GDragon already debut as a rapper at 13 . They were writing their lyrics and produce music . The first rapline in kpop .After TOP , all groups had to have a deep voice member . Another thing they changed is solo careers. Before Bigbang idols leave the group and had to wait for it to disband in order to have solo activity. In Bigbang everyone has solo careers without disband . TOP has a long acting career and won acting awards before Squid Games role .
