    These are super useful features, but it’s not great UI design. There should be a dedicated ‘SHIFT’ button and at least some visible hint on the panel to inform the user that there’s an extra function for a given control. Using a button marked only as ‘EXIT’ for all this useful stuff is not good. Maybe we’re supposed to put little stickers on the panel to remind us? (I see that little ‘F’ on the filter knob!)

    ................................."DRAWBAR POSITION UPDATE" -So, EXIT/Organ button updates the patch to the current drawbar settings. To be clear, is this a permanent change to the patch?

    • @Featherlightstudio
      @Featherlightstudio  Рік тому

      No, not permanent. Its only permanent if you store the patch with the altered settings. This is true for all the live changes you make while playing as well.

    Hello is it possible to transpose - 2 ( for example )and then swapp between Live set and the transpose remain the same -2

    • @Featherlightstudio
      @Featherlightstudio  4 місяці тому

      Each voice in the live set has its own transpose settings remembered. So when you switch to another voice, it will switch to that transpose setting. No global transpose that I'm aware of, would be a great firmware update.

    Is there any way to assign a foot SWITCH to control the simulated leslie or make the rotary speaker go from slow to fast?

    • @Featherlightstudio
      @Featherlightstudio  Рік тому +1

      Yes, you can assign the Either foot-switch 1 or 2 or even the Mod lever to control a variety of rotary parameters including fast/slow, or stop/brake. In fact, they can even all be assigned to control a different parameter, if you need that.. Page 60 of the manual covers all the available assignments.

    Is there a way to make a rotor control pedal behave like a Nord, that is, momentary, and not having to step on the pedal again to turn the rotary effect off ?? I haven't found it yet...thanks!

      I haven't found a way to get a regular 'non-latching' hold pedal to do it but hopefully some one might chime in here if they come across another pedal type that will.

    Is there a way to layer three sounds by changing the organ sound into another sound for an extra layer?

    • @Featherlightstudio
      @Featherlightstudio  Рік тому

      Even though you can't access the Key engines from the Organ side, using the FM synth algorithms ( F4, F5, F6) can definitely get you more voicing options.

    Hello Steve, Trying out my new YC-88/61 setup. Love the keyboard and thanks to you I am learning how to navigate an already great live keyboard. When my house gig resumes in 2 weeks I am ready to take the new duo out to the gig. Presently I am using a Nord Stage 4 88 and a Nord Stage 3 73 Compact for my upper keyboard. I was a big Yamaha user for many years from all the motifs to the stage pianos. I got spoiled by the Nords over the last 8 years but it was your PodCast that told me to gig the YC a try. I did find out one real important thing. Going out of the XLR's verses the ¼" outputs is huge. I could not believe the difference. Fortunately my Ashley 308B line mixer has channels one and two switchable between ¼" or XLR. Then I run that signal through a Focusrite ISA 2 preamp and into a DBX intelligent EQ, and finally to a Warm Audio Bus Summing unit. I then run out of the bus Summing via XLR into a Presonus Temblor Sub and up to my Space Station. It's quite a setup and is actually a small set up that's very portable. I can see by your videos you are a very talented player with nice chops. I would love to catch up to you at a gig. Let me know where your band is playing. I'm in North Carolina but would make a trip out to meet in person. Thank you so much for being a great teacher and keep up the good work. Rocky

    Hey! Can you use the drawbars as midi sliders/faders??

    • @Featherlightstudio
      @Featherlightstudio  2 роки тому +1

      The individual drawbars ( Both Lower and Upper positions ) do transmit MDI CC info. It appears to be up to the apps your using to see how extensively each apps will use that data. For example, using the YC with iOS version of Korg Module, the MIDI learn feature in the apps settings correctly detects each drawbar and assigns it to a given parameter.

    My YC61 crashed During a firmware update because of a power surge. Does anybody know how to get back into the machine it is now in what they call “brick mode”. I just bought the unit two weeks ago from Sweetwater they said I can return it and they’ll send me a new one but I was wondering if there was anyway I could possibly get back in. There’s nothing when I powered on no display nothing. Anybody else know how to solve this?

    • @Featherlightstudio
      @Featherlightstudio  2 роки тому +1

      It would depend on what's actually damaged, if its the power supply or main board, best to deal with Sweetwater on that.

    I’ve been listening to your videos for hours now and I’m waiting on my wife 6061 that’s coming from Sweetwater this week. I am a musician that is totally blind and I chose this keyboard for performing live. So anything that keeps me from having to menu dive it’s gonna be very helpful. I’m really interested in how I could use that filter trick or if I could hear when I change the type of filter. Also I wonder how I can assign the pedal to either the Keith section or a or B on the organs and save that to a live set so that it could hold the notes on one side and not the other. Also can you only have one split point and then layer maybe two instruments on the top? I realize these are kind of basic questions. And another video you demonstrated using the offset control with velocity to bring another instrument at a certain amount of force I have a lot to learn and I’m definitely gonna buy you some coffee on PayPal. In the UA-cam app on my iPhone with voiceover double tapping the link doesn’t work so I’ll just have to copy and paste them into my browser. I would appreciate any sources that I could get somebody to help me learn the physical layout of controls on the board.
    . That was amazing. Apologies for the dictation mistakes that I am unable to edit.

    • @Featherlightstudio
      @Featherlightstudio  2 роки тому

      Heh Reginald, yeah, one of the big advantages of the YC keyboards is so many of the functions are right there on the top pf the board and instantly available however, some of the more specific functions will still require you to navigate through the menu or settings pages like, assigning hold pedal to Keys A/B or organ sections. The Yamaha Synths Official site is a great resource as well for all thing YC related.

    Great video (as all the YC ones :) )!
    I have one question after testing the YC out yesterday.
    I could not get the synth (in my example it was on panel b) to sustain when I held the sustain pedal down.
    The piano sounds (panel a) worked well (sustained), but not the synth.
    I only had one hour in the shop, so I had to move on with everything I wanted to test, but I can't find anything about this.
    Can you confirm this is the way it works, or was there some setting I missed and can you let the synth sustain with the pedal after releasing the keys?
    Thanks in advance!

    • @Featherlightstudio
      @Featherlightstudio  Рік тому +1

      All the YC Series behave the same way, Each sound engine can have its own sustain pedal assignments as well as the Organ section. All are independent from each other. Go to Settings/Controllers/Receive SW/Sustain.
