Your description of the pre-poisoning symptoms at dinner were spot on with my experience with it- the stomach gurgles! I was feeling fine, besides those, ate a dinner and promptly got sick from something I ate the night before. Sorry you had to deal with that!

You crack me up that is so something I would also book the wrong hotel. Although for what it is worth the hotels in Cancun look way nicer than those in Riviera Maya. I think we were in Cancun around the same time omg! I went on a few excursions to Isla Mujeres and the Tulum ruins/cenotes which made the trip more memorable
. With food poisoning I puked 3 days. Pregnancy I’m 7 months and still puking daily lol. I will say that you never forget food poisoning sickness. It’s unlike any other

Ooof, this gave me flashbacks to when I stayed at an all-inclusive resort in Mexico and also got poisoned/spent the night throwing up and wanting to die, lol. I figured it was from the mixed drinks I had - possibly the ice in them since you always hear “don’t drink the water in Mexico”… but yeah, sorry you had that experience too, that blows!
Dietitian here and actually after taking my Medical Microbiology class I found out the food that actually gives you the most food poisoning is rice at the food buffet that’s been sitting there under lights all day. Rice has some fungus on it that is in every rice kernel that produces a toxin and rice seems safe so a lot of people eat it no matter how long it’s been sitting out in the wrong temp for hours growing and producing the toxin that causes food poisoning and many restaurants think rice is safe as leftovers so after it’s been sitting out for hours and hours under the wrong temp they gather it up and add it to a new batch the next day and put it out under the same warming bins and the contaminated rice from the day before contaminates the newly made rice. No food should be from 40-140 degrees Fahrenheit for a total of more than 2 hours from raw form when you first get it from the grocery store, post cook and cook down and then brought back out and warmed up to room temp before reheating or putting back in fridge. This is where buffets get it wrong as it is impossible to keep the food hot enough for hours. Like you said if you eat meat they just place out is fine but to eat it hours later is super risky. I am very picky about meat on a buffet and often don’t eat meat or eggs at all at a restaurant or definitely a buffet.

Putting the label “honeymoon” on a vacation is so much pressure to have fun. Sometimes things go wrong, or it doesn’t feel as special as a “honeymoon” should feel. That being said, if I had food poisoning I think I might want to re-do my honeymoon. Something to think about! I’m glad you made the best of it ❤
I stayed in cancun in 2022, the food was basically inedible, everyone I met had food poisoning at some point 😭 I had it for the whole trip, the food tasted so different to what I’m used to in the UK and normally I love all foods!
Food poisoning, unless you have had it, you really can't describe it. The worst. I've had it twice from Chinese food. Laying on the bathroom floor for hours. When it hits you, it hits you fast. The pain is terrible. After you get sick, you feel better for about two minutes and the pain starts again.. What a gorgeous place that is you guys stayed. Zach was having such a great time!
The first time I got married it was at Couples in Jamaica. It was gorgeous! Unfortunately, it was the wrong man. However, the experience was amazing!! So sorry about the food poisoning. 😢
I feel your pain! My wife and I celebrated our 30th anniversary in February down in Mexico (in the Riviera Maya BTW) and on our second night, I got food poisoning from the buffet. I spent 12 hours in our room puking (including the sink, not by choice). I spent the next 24 hours recovering and then I was good for the rest of the trip.
That’s because they are called Barf-fes….😂 I avoid then like the plague… anything with a sneeze guard or tongs that a million other people touch is a no go
For my honeymoon we went to Las Vegas. Which was good because it was on a strip, and I couldn't get lost. They didn't even take that into consideration. It's a miracle we survived the plane flight. It was funny, because I made us go to Star Trek the Experience, it's no longer there. We also saw some show like Lord of the Dance, and my ex actually really liked that. We were able to take a cab to the airport from the hotel.
Girlfriend I think you should realize the people pleasing goes way too far when you eat dangerous chicken for fear of looking wasteful in front of people you don't know and who likely wouldn't even notice! Glad you're ok.
My experience with labour was imo not as bad as food poisoning. It's more like a bad period with lower back/butt ache. The twisting pain in your stomach during food poisoning is awful because of what it results in. Birth is worth it. Lol.
It is so tough to diagnose food poisoning versus a stomach bug, etc. The only way doctors know it is that multiple people will get it from eating the same thing - so there would be others sick on the resort from the chicken! But it so sucks that you were in so much pain! I can imagine your horror of having to go into that public bathroom but thank goodness you were okay in the end. I'm sure it's long over now but get easily digestable foods for a while! Just want to let you know that during your vlog a commercial about constipation came up 😂

I want to validate your pain though because I had my first case of food poisoning a couple of months ago and it was DEFINITELY as painful as early labor contractions with my daughter. I almost thought I needed to go to the emergency room so they could sedate me. 😂
Hahaha, I too got my first food poisoning from lunch buffet SALMON at riviera maya. Nope, not from like tap water or anything but from my own doing. Like legit I was so excited at the thought of salmon so fancy yum yum and boy did I learn. After that I’d hit the buffet for some awesome soup crackers for the next 3 days 😂😂😂

Yeah specifically in my opinion Aruba is the best. Gorgeous blue water, soft sand, feels like you are walking on pillows. Weather is always gorgeous, as it is a dry heat type climate. Always sunny and if it rains, it lasts maybe an hour at most. Also the food is amazing. They take pride in it and almost everything is imported into them. Next time you want to plan a trip like that I’d recommend trying Aruba out.

Off the wall question but were you comfortable with the way resort handled food allergy’s? Just asking because I have nut allergy including peanut “oil” so were you happy with the way your allergy was communicated or questions answered about this?
We live in Mexico part time, and I take oregano oil to avoid getting sick, I also avoid any shellfish and fish, warm water fish are notorious for parasites. I always check my chicken also to make sure it’s not pink or weird colors . Bring charcoal with you next time….. it will suck up the toxins.
Aw food poisoning is awful. Had it once. But if you think labor contractions are equivalent to it, get ready. 😅 Not even close. Take your worst period cramps you’ve ever experienced and multiply that by 1,000! Thank God for the invention of the epidural. 🙌🏼😂 Sorry you got sick on your honeymoon. But now you have a funny story to tell. Looks like y’all had an amazing time despite the hiccups. 😉
Hibachi and Teppanyaki are not interchangeable. They are two different types of cooking method. Unfortunately I noticed a lot of Americans will use the word hibachi when they are referring to teppanyaki. I think it's important that people learn the difference. Nobody would want to confuse frying with baking and yet somehow in this case it happens all the time.
I went to Puerto Vallarta with my friends. So much fun. Got so sun burned though. Eat mango ice cream. I keep saying this, but I love my Kindle. Also, I have Wi-Fi now!!!!!!!!
I just got food poisoning last Friday. It felt just like that. It started with that night having mild cramps. Just thought it was period. By the next day, I went to the store just to get hair dye. I walked in and had to walk right back out. I thought for sure I was gonna poop my pants right in the middle of the store. I drove home very fast. Ripped my coat off and never emerged from the house for days. I have had kids, and it literally felt like I was in labor from the stomach pain. I almost passed out from the pain. The next day, my stomach hurt like I did a million sit-ups. It is now Friday a week later, and my stomach is just starting to settle down. It really is the worst thing I have ever had.

Yeah specifically in my opinion Aruba is the best. Gorgeous blue water, soft sand, feels like you are walking on pillows. Weather is always gorgeous, as it is a dry heat type climate. Always sunny and if it rains, it lasts maybe an hour at most. Also the food is amazing. They take pride in it and almost everything is imported into them. Next time you want to plan a trip like that I’d recommend trying Aruba out.

Off the wall question but were you comfortable with the way resort handled food allergy’s? Just asking because I have nut allergy including peanut “oil” so were you happy with the way your allergy was communicated or questions answered about this?

We stayed in Cancun at a RUI and I loved it there! Go get a fish pedicure it feels so good ❤
We live in Mexico part time, and I take oregano oil to avoid getting sick, I also avoid any shellfish and fish, warm water fish are notorious for parasites. I always check my chicken also to make sure it’s not pink or weird colors . Bring charcoal with you next time….. it will suck up the toxins.

Aw food poisoning is awful. Had it once. But if you think labor contractions are equivalent to it, get ready. 😅 Not even close. Take your worst period cramps you’ve ever experienced and multiply that by 1,000! Thank God for the invention of the epidural. 🙌🏼😂 Sorry you got sick on your honeymoon. Hibachi and Teppanyaki are not interchangeable. They are two different types of cooking method. Unfortunately I noticed a lot of Americans will use the word hibachi when they are referring to teppanyaki. I think it's important that people learn the difference. Nobody would want to confuse frying with baking and yet somehow in this case it happens all the time.
I went to Puerto Vallarta with my friends. So much fun. Got so sun burned though. Eat mango ice cream. I keep saying this, but I love my Kindle. Also, I have Wi-Fi now!!!!!!!!

I just got food poisoning last Friday. It felt just like that. It started with that night having mild cramps. Just thought it was period. By the next day, I went to the store just to get hair dye. I walked in and had to walk right back out. I thought for sure I was gonna poop my pants right in the middle of the store. I drove home very fast. Ripped my coat off and never emerged from the house for days. I have had kids, and it literally felt like I was in labor from the stomach pain. I almost passed out from the pain. The next day, my stomach hurt like I did a million sit-ups. It is now Friday a week later, and my stomach is just starting to settle down. It really is the worst thing I have ever had.
