- Rik Emmett and the Allied Forces Superstar Band-Lay it on the Line-from
Triumph’s Just a Game album-Allied Forces Triumph Fan Weekend-20 August 2022-Festival Hall Centre for the Arts-Pembroke, ON.
Gave me goosebumps when he started singing. Glad I found this. Triumph was a big part of the 80's.
the 80s? I was listening to them since the 70's. Had Rock and Roll Machine on vinyl
I know whatcha mean. Huge airplay on FM radio stations, back in the day.
Me too!
I’ll put this tune up against any of the great rock anthems of the 80’s. 🤟🇨🇦
1979
Absolutely. They killed it at the US83 show. They were the best act that day. Scorpions and Judas Priest.
I agree 👍
Absolutely!
Great song no doubt however if we’re talking “Anthems” The Blinding Light Show is more in that category.
Rik is now 70 and still killing it…where the F did the time go? Still remember seeing him front row at Hamilton Place in 1981 with Harlequin opening…. Amazing show
Doing it with class nice job nothing fake going on here..
Time is a fuckholer, that's for sure David!
for sure it all seems like yesterday... Rock on! Still listening music from that era. Still training and still burning rubber.
I never woulda recognized Rik with that beard. And it's good to see a musician that KNOWS when his time has come and he can no longer hit "the note". Instead of faking and using a vocal backing track he brings in a singer to cover his ass. Respect.
I love him even more than I did. In my top 3 guitarist list.
I wasn’t sure that was him either, plus he’s usually doing acoustic shows now. Saw him awhile ago and he sounded great, didn’t need any help hitting the high notes, but he joked around about them in this song.
Who's the other two?
Most underrated band ever.
Big time !
A Canadian rock trio that probably got overshadowed by another Canadian rock trio. 🤷🏼♂️
! And a trio at their finest.
I agree! I was at the US festival for them. One of the greatest sets ever! I also got to meet Rik on his first solo tour. One of the nicest guys and purest voices I've ever heard - oh, and he's a virtuoso guitarist as well!
@@jonnyroxx7172 I was at both US fests... backstage.
Every time I hear this song it makes me proud to be Canadian. Long live rock n roll!
Every time I hear this song it makes me proud to know where Canada is!
I saw Triumph in 1982 on the Allied Forces tour and in 1986 on the Sport of Kings tour. One of the absolute best live bands ever. I am so glad to see Rik is still out there doing what he does best.
Rik still sounds amazing, and his band is excellent. Triumph should have gone on longer than it did, but it's great to see Rik still killing it!
Rik is one one of the most underrated guitar players AND singers. He brought in 2 extra guitar player, and unlike most others he actually plays the lead parts!
What. This is amazing. Triumph needs a reunion tour!!
Rik Emmitt & Tommy Shaw are two of the most overlooked guitarists & singers IMO.
And two of my ALL TIME Favorites !
Styx, Was my First Concert, my older brother took me, it was the Paradise Theater Tour. Great Show.
Canadian here. Triumph, and Rick have been a huge part of my life. Best Rock bands come from Canada 🇨🇦
Triumph and April Wine are two of my all time favorite bands.
I've seen Rik Emmett several times over the past 5 years . HE NEVER DISAPPOINTS, ALWAYS FANTASTIC!!! GREAT MUSICIAN & SINGER !!! Come back to Chicago !!!
Sweeeeeet, super excited to see Rick out playing for all of us to enjoy. Such an unrated guitar player, song writer and vocalist!!!
Fact !
Never understood why Triumph was so very underrated They were a very talented Trio of Musicians Ric Emmett ,Gil Moore and Mike Levine They blew My Mind back in the Day Awesome Rock and Roll Machine
Love Triumph!! Might I say Rik Emmett has aged like fine wine. He looks & sounds great. ❤
I have been lucky enough to see Triumph a few times in the 80s, then Rik and Dave twice. Always great shows. Riks music is a part of me.
Outstanding ! As usual ! Been Rocking to Triumph for 40 years. I admire this man.
Rik Emmett never ceases to amaze me. What a guitar player!
Was shocked to come across this. Great to see Emmett let someone younger sing the high notes. Nothing wrong with that. Awesome, hope to see them tour here, cause I will be in front row. Rush, Triumph, and Grand Funk, outside of Hendrix, the 3 greatest 3 man bands all came out of Canada!
put the pipe down..... Hendrix was from Seattle and Grand Funk was from Flint Michigan....last I heard those places are in the United States....
Triumph was my first concert I went to ....back in 84!...... Will never forget that night in Portland Maine!🤟🤟🤟
I'm 55 and still love this. GOD BLESS RICK AND HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS. AWESOME.
Hello🤘🏻
Triumph will forever live in me,Rock on Rik
Rik's voice sounds great. He definitely took care of himself over the years.
I met Rik at a radio station in Pleasant Prairie, WI in 2004 and was able to sit in the studio for his interview and watched him play “Hold On” and part of “Midsummer’s Daydream” on a Yamaha acoustic guitar 5 feet away! What an amazing, down to earth guy! I’ll never forget it. 👍🏻😎
Seen triumph and survivor in St Louis back in the 80s I still have the ticket stub one of the best shows I had ever ever seen still a huge triumph an can't go wrong with these guys and you never could
Epic.... Glad I stumbled across this !!
Saw triumph 4 times back in the day always loved them glad i saw this
Love love love!!!
🤘🏻🌹🌹
Seen them many times in my day. What a killer band, and topnoch showmanship.
Rik will always Have "THE MAGIC POWER"
This makes me ridiculously happy to hear his voice like this only 2 years ago... I would ******* love to hear/see them live
Great video!!!! A little story… years ago Rik and the Canadian band Honeymoon Suite did a tour together and I was hanging backstage and Rik was warming up and I brought a Triumph cd booklet to get signed,at that time he wasn’t signing anything by his former band but being 6’4 350 pound guy I asked him and he reluctantly signed it and gave me the guitar pick he was using…. We chatted and he was so damn cool and killed it that night on stage
I got old with them!
What a treat! Thank you!
Just love this ❤. Always thought he was the most underrated guitarist out there!! Will always be in my top 5 🤟🏻✌🏼❤️🎸
Still plays like a BEAST! He had guitar figured out at such an early age it always baffled me! Rock ON!
Still has it, a great underrated band. Classic!!
Triumph! Rik and his electrifying guitar!
Rick had such a classic voice and wrote some of the absolute best rock songs of all time.
We loved Triumph in Texas and still do!! I can't remember how many times I saw them but it was more than once!! That was a great performance and Ric is still a great player. Great band!!
Texas. The Allied Forces Tour was my first time I saw them on stage was absolutely amazing.
Don’t hold back Rick!!❤
Loved Triumph back in the day, lots of great songs.
🎉 One of the Greatest Singer🎙️& 🎸🎛️playrers of the 80's🎸🎛️🤘timeless🤟love them👍
Rik is a living legend. Saw Triumph open for AC/DC in 1981. All there shows are incredible. Long live Rik Emmett!
Very underated band..
Saw them 5 times in Philly , greatest Rock singer and guitarist in my mind !!!
Please!! You must be sniffing glue. The greatest?? 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Every time I hear him play it brings me back to a better time
Big fan of our Canadian brothers. Listened to Triumph and Rush in the US in '79. Great mesh with the Southern Rock bands, Boston, Kansas, and ZZ Top. Imagine?
Forgot Loverboy
TRIUMPH ONE OF THE BEST POWER ROCK TRIO'S ♥ 😊 JUST LIKE RUSH !!🎉😊
Great arrangement, great band, and Rik is still killing it. OUTSTANDING musician and artist 🎶
What a great tune!
My God, my guitar hero has arrived!
Versatile guitar player, fantastic vocalist, great songwriter and most importantly, appears to be a kind human. My way to follow from tenderness to passion...
My greatest rock music influence who even forced me to pick up my own electric guitar to resonate with him! How I want to learn your hooks, riffs and chords!
Your unforgettable double neck guitar brings only good memories:...
Thanks a lot, my dear Rik! You are amazing!
I love Rik, This video is amazing, Thank you for bringing it out for us that live a bit far away from Canada, I'm Mexican and fell in love with Triumph back in the 80´s
Played my high school in 1978!! Amazing trio of phenomenal musicians. 😎😉🇨🇦
I'm a huge Triumph fan. and Rik Emmett is a fantastic guitarist. a while ago he was giving tutorials on how he played some of those Triumph songs. here on UA-cam. he even talked about playing the double neck.
Long Live the Rock and Roll Machine 🤘from San Antonio Texas home of the Triumph away home
That’s very cool I love Triumph. And I can appreciate when there’s love for one’s music but wise enough to know one’s limitations are but still rock out 🤘🏼🤘🏼👍👍I would go see them
He doesn't just let the guy sing his song, he shows real respect and appreciation with his reactions. True class!
Unbelievable. Wicked stuff. Still got it.
Caught him in a cool club in Windsor (near Detroit) in the mid nineties. Great show! This looks very much on par, what, 25yrs later? 😮😊
Kudos to the guy with balls to pull off singing Riks lines in Riks band!
Triumph has always been stellar in concert any time I saw them, let alone Rik!
Soooo underated back in the day......thanks for all the great music and guitar work!
Wow, Rik looks like. Kenny Rogers in this clip. You go Rik! Sounds like you can still hit the high notes, just without the power.
The other guy is hitting those highs lol
Scary seeing him fading as I am 50's and hope don't lose mine..He had great power vibrato that other guy lacking..Special and a gift don't want gone..Guy is a great musician..Father time undefeated!!!
Last time I heard this song was 1983 US Festival in CA on Metal Day. Great concert!
Loved Triumph. Def one of the top songs of all time!
Bravo !!
Thanks for sharing. Love Triumph!❤
Triumph is still BAD ASS!
God bless them!
Dang! Rik still sharp as he ever was!!!
Thanks Katrina for this treat!
I saw Triumph for the Thunder Seven and Sport of Kings tours. What an incredible live show. Left quite an impression on a 16 year old kid. Even better than the Police, Synchronicity tour or Van Halen for the 1984 tour.
Oh, this is good! The two
singers, great stuff!
Will always be Triumph fan!
OMG I couldn't recognize Rik at all! He can still play guitar like a guitar god and sing amazingly well! Rock Out. Roll on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seen Triumph at the Oregon Jam, out of all the bands including Quit Riot, they were in my opinion the best. You go Rik...
Big fan of Rik Emmett. Saw Triumph when they did their first American tour. Saw a video on his Facebook page where he says he's retired and no longer touring.☹️
His instrumental work are awesome. Also humble ol Canadian. Beard sure fooled me
I was at the US Festival in 83, unbelievable day and night, if I remember correctly it's a little foggy, literally😊
I seen Triumph and Rik so many times great musician hes now retired doesnt play any more this is 24 he quit end of 22.
Love triumph.... im sure there still are.. but back in my youth so many great Canadian bands.
great to see him rockin
I saw a video from some years ago where Rik said he had days he can sing ok but not the higher notes and others where he can barely sing. That was years ago and this was only last year( as of this date (08/24). So imagine now that he’s even a few years older on this video. It must have been hard for him to give up the lead vocal here so I am happy that he was willing to pocket his pride and enjoy just playing with these guys. There’s a time your vocal cords are just as old as the rest of your flesh. He can thank God he gave him the great voice he had and that he can still play guitar. I am getting arthritis on my finger joints. He isn’t. Thank the Lord.
He's one of the best.
Rik is an excellent guitsarist and doesnt need TWO more guitarists any more than one more........
Love this!
Dave Dunlop, not Rick's son, a prodigy in his own right who has toured with Rik on his acoustic solo tours for the last several years. Dave is awesome.
That is a great drum sound!🥁
It's good to see Rick is still ripping it up!!!!
This is Badass! Sure miss real R&R.
When we die and we can go back in time. One of the first places I'm going to is the 1983 US Festival in California to see guys play on that day.
I 1st saw Triumph, along with April Wine and Rush at a beer bash Molson's sponsored at my college in Vermont in May 1977.
We, Norwich U (the military college) were the largest US drinkers of Molson in the US for 1976.
Rik has lost neither his chops, or his voice.
Fight The Good Fight was my them song during my bout with pancreatic cancer in 2015.
No evidence of cancer since the surgery in June that year.
Well played guys! Would have liked to have been there! 🤘🤘🤘
Glad to see him still out there! I saw the Spellbound tour in Providence, Rhode Island many years ago where they filmed the Follow Your Heart video. What a great show! Molly Hatchet opened up for them.
Correction, Thunder Seven tour.
Saw Triumph in ‘83. Absolutely brilliant band.
Richard Gordon Emmett is the best lead man EVER!
Amazing!!!!
Why does Rick Emmett need 2 backup guitarists when he manhandled this song in a trio? He's one of the best ever. I keep writing for him and A lifeson to put something together. This is a great video..
A true class act and gentleman in a crazy indutry and time of his prime.
nice to see he's still rocking ! ,, like from the song follow you heart (rocknroll never dies )
Too bad he's got the other guy singing instead of him guitar player and singer myself it's hard to still hit those notes. I still love the guy one of the best guitar players and singers that ever lived
🌹🌹🤘🏻
