    I remember seeing Robben back on the Tiger Walk tour, and I was there hours before and well after, waiting in line to get something signed. When I finally got my chance to approach, I blurted out the first thing I could think of - "wu wu when's your next album???"... to which he coolly looked me over, thought for a sec, then stated profoundly "we just gave you the new record?" Well, done, Mr. Ford, what do I know. This dude oozes cool and has music as thoughts, what a pure musician!

    I've always seen Robben playing in a more jazzy vein, so great to see him just get into some gnarly pentatonic riffing....he does it all, masterfully!

    The date listed is 1995, but the camera has a date stamp of 1997?

    • @olric63
      @olric63  2 роки тому +1

      Yes, that’s weird, but the lineup and song do match the 1995 period, whereas 1997 was the Tiger Walk tour with a different band. Maybe a re-recording of a tape ?

    • @bluesful
      @bluesful 2 роки тому

      @@olric63 yeah I agree with you mate. That lineup wasn't playing with Robben in 1997 as far as I know. They were for some dates in 1998 I think, but not 1997.

    My impression with a lot of blues players is that they are very predictable, repetitious and clique ridden, not so with Robben Ford, he is just so freeking musical.

      Most music we love to hear is written off the backs of “ predictable blues players “

      Earlier years with Miles Davis and Joni Mitchell helped Robben hone his multiple styles and skills.
      He could then follow his heart and head into the blues with Blue Line etc. He's a gentleman and very kindly invited a friend and myself to his earlier Ojai, CA, home of an evening.
