I can remember my parents did oeko heu back in the 90s, a hunter came over before first cut and setup white flags so the doe's would get their young as far as I can remember no fawns ever ending up in a drum mower. The Regulations in Switzerland for agriculture has become a bit extreme over the last view decades
Talking about protecting the deer during cutting the grass, a woman in our village lost her cat due to exactly that, for some reason the cat didn't move and was chopped up. The farmer didn't know whom the cat belonged to and buried the cat, she asked around and he said what had happened. Pretty sad.
That's unfortunate. It's interesting that it didn't get out of they way. There are a lot of cats that come to the field looking for mice while we are cutting, but normally, they stay away from the mowers.
@@AmericameetsSwitzerland true, not sure why the cat stayed put. The mowers are loud enough and most cats will scramble away. Love your channel, I haven't been to Einsiedeln for a year or more, my wife went on a tour of the Kloster last time. The stables in the back where they have horses was her main interest. I had a beer waiting for her to return.
Are you ever concerned about tick bites and what do you do to prevent them? I have a friend who just got incredibly sick for several months from a tick bite.
Historically, the economy of - until WWII was almost entirely agriculture. I wonder how they managed to survive before liberalism, wokism, and other ....isms...... without which the planet cannot survive is actually still not flooded, burned down, under a glacier or whatever some of these sick minds make us believe will happen - unless we pay $ billions into "a fund" for climate change. No receipts of course, since the money flows straight into the pockets of those who will study what the next problem will be unless we pay another $ billion.
7% has to be "Insect land" if you farm up to 3Ha of crops the half has to be on the Cropland. new since 2024. You can choose the program you want. If you dont accept, you loose the goverment-support. In my case the half of the income. As always in CH some rules depends in the Staate(Kanton) you are located and the in zone of farming the(Mountain, Hill or Valley). You almost make a lawyer to manage that 🙂
This is really very interesting. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for watching.
Another interesting video! 👍👍👍
The stone seams to be a fossilized coral. which isn't very rare, but looks really cool. take it and place it in your garden.
Well, I was really hoping it was a dinosaur egg.😂 Fossilised coral does make sense. Thank you for answering!

I actually don't use anything against ticks, but I probably should. They are a concern, though, and I always check for them after work.
@@AmericameetsSwitzerland I definitely recommend getting the encephalitis vaccine.
