- Fast Mercedes W124 is racing and doing some drifts on Nürburgring at 08.04.2012. This was filmed with GoPro Hero HD 2. The car is absolutly stock. 220HP are enough for nearly 9 minutes from bridge to gate. This car is automatic with a 3.2 engine. The driver is over 40 years old and a old hand on this track. He has done several thousends kilometers on the Nürburgring. Special thanks to Rudi for give me a free ride in his car. See you next year

What was the ambient temperature at that time of the day?
I'm only asking because I can't really imagine the stock M104 equipped W124 on a 20c+ day doing WOTs & Sub-200km/h hard brakings, swinging the chassis around corners at very high speeds as if it was a 911 or an M3 for 10 minutes straight without the engine + trans. oil cooking off and the coolant temperature hitting the 110c mark without fitting a larger radiator & oil-heat exchanger like the OM ones in later W210s W211s

its a great gearbox the manual one. ;) we had one, my cousin has a 300CE 24v 220hp with that sports gearbox it is the only one in the country with all the equippment and that gearbox. ;)
This was so fun to watch, doesn't matter what type of car he was driving. He was taking some brilliant lines, with a bit too much speed into only a handful of them. Thank you for the upload!!
Cannot get how do you slide on automatic gearbox on that speed. Own similar 2.8 200 hp, it's not simple to control sliding on speed over 40 km/h.

Slide an automatic like a boss, respect! I have tried to slide an automatic, it's just too hard to modulate the throttle..

+1. .. Being familiar with driving the Nurburgring road course - .. It must have been "white knuckles" piloting the w124 sedan. .. a mercedes w124 E 320 can cost between 2000-10000 euros depending on condition and mileage.

I did say he was taking "brilliant lines" :) . Thanks for the info though, I don't know much about older Mercedes outside of the early 80's and 2000's.

Not saying you don't know about Mercedes E-Class W124 Chassis, but in case you don't this car is a Mid-Size 4 door sedan, Last W124 was made in '95 this car is almost a classic, and for it to be running like that is not a big of a surprise since these cars are excellent reliable and powerful :D. The driver was also Taking Amazing lines around the track, he surpassed many like a pro.
schönes video. habt's ihr auch das problem, das die bremsen schweine heiß werden? hab das problem mit einem w201, 2.3 8v automatik. da fehlt einfach die bremskraft vom motor.
300e24v und 320e haben beiden 220ps und größere Bremsanlage vorne.

Weiß einer wie der Fahrer heißt? Und wie kann man mal eine Runde bei ihm im Mercedes mitfahren? Wenn ich seine Drifts sehe hätte ich da irgendwie auch mal Bock drauf.

oh, well 4 laps around the Nordschleife (most famous part of the Nürburgring) costs 89 euros. ;)

How much does it cost?
Hat der Wagen kein ASR? Ich bekomme meinen Benz nicht zum Driften, weil ich die ASR immer eingreift. Oder gibt es doch eine Möglichkeit das zu deaktivieren? Da lobe ich mir meinen 2006er 3er BMW. Da konnte man die Elektronik bis auf ABS komplett abschalten.

oder das basismodell ohne ASR holen, z.B. 200D, 72 ps aber trotzdem das hammer fahrwerk (keine drifts mit dem diesel bitte)
