  • I'm at it again. This time the subject matter is my American Werewolf in London, Werewolf. Same technique as the last post. White oil on a black canvas.Part way into the video I shut off an incandescent light as the video was getting over exposed but something strange happened. A strange rippling effect caused, I'm assuming by the fluorescent light. Sorry about that.Hope you find this interesting

Mr RB you are a truely amazing artist and special effects maestro. I had no idea that AWIL took almost 10 years to make from when the idea/story was originally conceived. Its a shame you have decided to retire in recent years though but wish you all the best for future projects!👍

I can't give enough compliments to this. Imagine Jack Pearce painting Frankenstein Karloff? This is exactly the same. Hypnotic!

You know what I love about you and your work? Whether it's painting, doing makeup on your daughter, Ms. Shock, getting killed on The Strain, judging on Face Off, or whatever, you always seem to be having fun.

Amen to that. I feel the same way. By the way, I'm doing a series of audio interviews with FX artists via Skype for Leglesscorpse.com and Crypt Network. I'm talking to Shannon Shea tonight and Matt Winston tomorrow. If you'd ever like to talk about what you do, we'd be honored to have you on. Thanks for your wonderful work.

You and Stan Winston are the ones who got me into wanting to make costumes, I love the old school traditional over complete CGI, I would also imagine the final results feels so much more rewarding

I pleasantly focused on the work being made. I was lulled hypnotically into a meditative state of beauty, art, creation... THEN THE LOUD MUSIC at the end made the cats suddenly jump up and scramble off the bed in all directions. HORROR!!!

I use fluorescent lights that are designed for video and are flicker free. They work GREAT in close up shoots like this. They don't work well for lighting a studio. As an added bonus, they are not expensive.

Great video, beautiful painting. I know this is just naive wishful dreaming but if only by some miracle you had worked on WOLFEN as well, and had created similar giant demonic wolves for that film as you did for AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON. It would've been a much better film.

I'm out of my head but I rarely paint just from my head. I need reference of some sort. This was based on a photo that I took. My last video was based on a computer model that I made as well as a photo of Henry Hull in make up.

I've been wanting to foray into oil paints because I'm a strictly acrylic painter. However, oil just seems so intimidating. What is it your using to wipe away what you've already put on? Oil seems like it would be much more forgiving than acrylic.
