  • The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), Coalition of Concerned Teachers Ghana (CCT) and the Teachers and Educational Workers Union(TEWU) declared a strike which took effect from 4th July 2022.
The strike according to the leadership of the Teachers unions is as a result of the failure of government to meet their demand which is the increment in their Cost of Living Allowance (COLA).
The strike of the various Teachers unions has negatively affected the country due to absence of Teachers in the basic, JHS and Pre-tertiary schools. The release from the unions states that they need a 20% Cost of Living Allowance increment.
The schools visited by Manuel Asare TV in the newly Asokwa created municipality to know their compliance to the strike included T.I Ahmadiya Senior High School, New Asafo M/A Primary and JHS. At T.I AMASS, some of the form 2 classes were writing Geography paper 1 and others too were writing twi paper 2 as their end of semester exams with the National service personnel and some selected form 3 students serving as invigilators at the examination hall.
